Set up 2 bait sites yesterday and both have been hit. Only have cameras on one site. 4 different bears. Sow with 2 cubs and a young boar. Using candy trail mix, cardinal mix, liquorish, and circus peanuts. Used 5 gallons of used oil from a Chinese restaurant for on the ground for bears to track into the forest, also 1 gallon of vegetable oil mixed with 4 ground up beaver castor glands that I sprayed up into the trees. Let the fun begin.
Hopefully the huge, old boar stays away.

Also using beef fat. Put out 40 pounds to start.

We had 2 if our 6 stations hit. Will be back up next weekend to freshen them up. I was actually quite surprised the bugs weren't all that bad. We could of done without the rain though

Bears devoured all the bait over night. We are baiting heavy and hopefully the grease does the trick and brings in more bears. Hopefully the cinnamon makes an appearance.

I have the stream machine also! :happy1: I had no hits on Sunday. Seems to take a little longer for hits up here in our neck of the woods. Going to check them tonight and add more bait. Won't be back for a week after today. I got 3 sites out this past weekend. Good luck boys.

I ran the loop last night and went 0-3. I won't check them again until next Wednesday. So hoping yogi finds the picnic baskets by then. On another note. Funny how the CO is camera shy. With the big rains we had yesterday morning I could tell there were tire tracks heading in and out of my bait sites. So on the last one I swapped the card in the trailcam to see if I got any pictures of him to confirm. Yeah at 2:22pm I got 2 pics of the inside of his hat. At first I thought it was a night pic until I looked at the time. Strange, like I didn't know they checked bear baits. :crazy: Maybe next year I will go back to the old paper form and make them work to find them. ;)

My thoughts exactly. I think I would have heard from him by now if I was doing something wrong. I did expect a quick check since this is the first season of using drums on public land in MN. and when I registered them online it asked if a drum was used or not.

got up there Friday morning. went and checked all the baits and 5 of 6 had been hit. rebaited all but one. I pulled 2, one that wasn't hit and the other was close to a trail with a lot of activity for labor day weekend.
Saturday......only one got hit. after that nuttin. :scratch: :scratch: :scratch: :scratch: :scratch: I have 18 hours sitting in portable ladder stands and boy can I feel it.

One year whilst a friend was hunting at the spot near Hinkley he had to go since his wife was going to have a baby. She called and said it is close so be home by early afternoon. (they had 3 kids already so she knew the program) Even though it is the low percentage time of day he went to the stand at 8 am and was going to sit till noonish. In walks a nice bear at 9ish and he shot it. You just never know.

I sat from sunrise till 10 the first morning, then if it didn't rain on us, from 4 pm to dark but sunday and Monday we got chased early cause of rain. Tuesday am we didn't go out because it was raining.
I AINT HUNTIN IN NO FRIGGIN RAIN!!!!!!!! :confused:

ive 1 outa 2 sites hit. small guy. i go che k 2 baits tomorow. hope somthing has improved. my honey hol wer ive takeing 15 bear off of was a weeken behi d opening baiting due to crops has now been open for over a weeke without a hit. strange year for me

LOL! As of Tuesday I had 2 of the 3 getting hi. 1 is a pretty nice one and the other would be a bear that I would shoot. Was going to hunt the nicer one this evening, but the wind is going to completely wrong now. Patient has is virtues I hope. I am going to restock the picnic baskets after work today.
