Lake Geneva Report from 6/24/10
This will be my final report until the end of July. I'll be headed to the MN. Boundary Waters (BWCA) and won't be back till the end of July. I know everyone is already feeling sorry for me and it's a tuff break, but someone has to do it. Hopefully I haven't put to many of you asleep while reading my Geneva reports. I just report each trip as it unfolds. I'll try to work on the reporting punctuality thing when I get back.
Today's trip included the big 3 John, Bob and Jim two of them still working for Motorola with the 3rd retired. My wife recently retired from Motorola, but didn't recognize any of the mug shots I showed her. The fishing took a turn for the better today while everyone was able to score some decent fish. Mostly working the crawlers on Carolina rigs did the job, but I did take note to the fact a dead stick rig was producing just as well.
At this time of the year a dead stick method (Do nothing fishing) is deadly. It will produce well all the way through the fall when anchored in the right areas and depths usually 26 to 35 ft about a foot off the bottom. I recommend walleye green (also called moss green) 6 lb test Stren Magnathin for your dead stick rods. It out fishes any other dead stick line by far. It’s a soft line and can't be dragged thru Geneva's zebra mussels without being ragged up. On a dead stick though in deep water It won't be a problem. Leeches and crawlers are best bait for dead stickin if you can afford leeches.

I just wanted to say thanks to the diehard bluegill fisherman out there who sacrifice the big gill fillets to improve the gene pool. You guys know who you are and it's working so hat's off to you.
