Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.

Based off of the MN Regs for this year:
“Bait or feed” is grain, fruit, vegetables, nuts, hay, or other food that is capable of attracting or enticing deer and that has been placed by a person.
• Liquid scents, salt, and minerals, are not considered bait or feed.

So, once again, it depends on interpretation of the law and what the particular Game Warden you deal with thinks.

If they sell it in the Mn store's then its legal, they dont sell licks that we cant use.

Thats not true at all... They sell a lot of stuff on Minnesota shelves that is illegal. Thats a huge problem but its the truth. Be careful what you buy.

They re-worded things a bit this year, a bit more understandable now... Swany's post is right, BUT, it also says you cant use the liquids and minerals if they are made with/contain fruit/vegetable/grains.... so yeah,  MNO is correct, pretty much all that stuff they sell is illegal to hunt over, you can use it to attract deer to an area, but it has to be "gone" ten days(I believe) before one can hunt over it.... Straight salt or mineral licks can be hunted over if they are the type with no flavors added...(apple,corn,acorn flavors) If you read the regs, its all in there and there really is no interpretation needed... no food, or food flavoured items...simple.  Now, the one thing I have always wondered is how does the DNR/Wardens deduct whether a salt lick had food flavors added?  Do they taste it?  What if the apple mineral lick/comere deer/other has absorbed into the dirt...?  that to me is the only grey area remaining... another words, if there is nothing there for a deer to consume, except for a stump or dirt with traces of whatever was put there.... Its legal?  I just use unflavored mineral licks, then there's no issues. :happy1:

I'm sorry. I got the arcorn rage, but I found pic/ of corn in it, I said I wonder if I would be in trouble for this. How can they sell this stuff if its not legal. motorized ducks are not allowed I dont see them selling them her in Mn.
I sell like c'mer deer. I used it and it works very well. Is this a bad thing?
The hole baiting law is so deer dont all come together and strid diseases by close contact of each other, like Texas they all bait there.

Acorn rage is illegal to use to hunt over. I am pretty sure c'mere deer is too. I don't have the ingredients in front of me but pretty sure its just corn dust isn't it?

Read the next line in the regs after "liquid scents, sprays, salt and minerals are not considered bait or feed."..... the following line says: "Any attractant that contains grain or other food sources is considered bait or feed."  SO...... read those labels! :reporter;  Comere deer has apples in it!  Do the math :whistling:  mineral licks, liquids, powders (doesnt matter what...) & the like that have apple, acorn, molasis & grain flavors are considered bait.... you can get straight mineral licks that ARE legal to hunt over, (used them for years, and they get hit hard, though mostly thru the summer...) you can put down anything you want, corn, apples, acorns to attract deer to an area, BUT, it has to be gone for ten days before you hunt over it.  Then its gotta be food-free salt/mineral licks etc. ...  Not that difficult really, just gotta read the regs, and we have to be very careful not to pass false/incorrect info to others on this, the fines and trouble one can get in isnt worth it.... at least it isnt to me!  I like being able to hunt every year and keep the guns that Ive paid big bucks for! ;) :happy1:
