Pretend it's trick or treating time del and pull the screen on the screen door, that'll make great stand. Hit a small public area out here and dumped the only rooster we seen on it. I should just go on a mouse hunt, they've been partying like rock stars in the shed. Man its quiet out this way, perfect!!

Could have shot him out the kitchen window...  With a crossbow, since I am old enough.  But with my luck he would have run across a few yards and died in someone's driveway, or back yard.

It would be sort of embarrassing to get caught field dressing a deer in the neighbor's yard.

I see you had leftover fried taters and Swedish sausage the other day Bobber.   Man that sounds great!  One of my favorite combos....  Good idea on the orange fake hunters Boar....  And yes Del I always worry about a deer ending up in someones yard too.  I shot a buck in a field years ago and a guy and his mom were in the yard of their farm house.  That crazy buck ran right up to them and tipped over in their yard.  I couldn't believe it.  And this is in farm country, as in 1 farm house per square mile.  Glad I knew the people and they thought it was sort of odd too.  Drove up the them and loaded up the buck...   (Didn't gut it out there)  We got the onions yesterday Glen.  Thanks much.  I admire a "man" who seals a package with duct tape.  We are off to Bemidji today and will plant the onions when we get back.  They are real nice healthy looking bulbs.  Remember the pic of the deer stand I made?  Well it blended in with the popple trees so nice.  Now with no leaves it sticks out like a sore thumb.  Oh well.  Might still work...  There are buildings all around here I guess.

Looks like KATCHUP day. Filled the bird feeders and took down the last nectar feeder and replaced it with a suet feeder. Now I can have live entertainment from my view in the oval office.  :happy1: Need to make a run to FF and get dog and cat food and mineral for the sheep. Some soil sampling to do although it's near home so it should go fast. Ram behaved last night although he tried to pull the same stunt by doubling back behind the ewes so he could get a whack at me if I wasn't looking. Sneaky bastard. I hit him in the ass with the bat first to keep him moving with the rest of the group. Although when I went to find the ground in the electric fence he followed me about halfway around the pasture. Definitely not one to turn your back on.

I think if it is there for a while the deer will pay it no mind.   Here they walk all over and pay no attention to houses cars garages anything.  I think they reach to stuff that is different...
"hey, there is strange stuff going on, let's get out of here and go hide in a swamp."
Just like scent.   They aren't inherently afraid of people smell.   But when they smell something out of place... off they go.

At least that is my thinking.   So I wouldn't worry about them seeing the stand.   They have seen it every day for a good while.

Dotch a few years ago a friend of mine who raises sheep had a tree that needed to be cut down in his yard.  I said I would take it for the firewood.  They have a huge yard and the gate was closed since the sheep were in the yard.  I went in and parked my truck 50' or so away from the tree.  Their ram was small but also a little bastard and liked to butt people.  Well I am engrossed in cutting firewood and just a 3' high stump remained of the tree.  I looked up and here was that ram with his head sort of down and he was looking right at me.  He was about 30' from me.  My truck is too far away to make a run for it.    :surrender:  That little bastard was just getting ready to ram me.  I stayed behind the little tree stump and yelled at him and threw a piece of wood at him.  Finally he saw the other sheep and left me alone.  What's the first thing I did?  I looked at the next door building which was an old folks home and they were watching out the window.  lol  I think they were laughing their asses off.  Glad I could humor them.

Raining here so the outside things are not going to be in the cards for me.  Caught 4 nice walleyes yesterday so may have them today.  GO VIKES.

No new toys this time it'll pay off my 2 credit cards and some left over for a rainy day. Although my electric smoker quit two weeks ago so if it's not much to fix it I'll have to get a new one and of course it'll be bigger and better  :happy1:

Wow! Way to go, coffee!!  :happy1:   I couldn't win a fart in a shoebox with a free drawing!
Good morning....39* and clear here in Swampville. High of 55* today, then the cold stuff sets in. Supposed to get 1 -2" rain here again Tuesday thru Wednesday. What else is new? I've given up holding out on the box stores to blow out the Turfbuilder this year....they aren't doing it anywhere. Grass seed isn't on sale, either. This will be my last day to get that stuff down and get it rained in good, did the leaves yday, so the yard is fairly clear yet. Perfect time with the rain coming. I mix my seed with the Turfbuilder and lay 'er down.  Guess I'll have to break down and spend $32 for two bags....the usual blowout of $10 a pop sounds a lot better. Ah well, only money, right?
Hope Barry has a word-of-the day....time for some new ones. I'm thinking a ham/cheddar/pepper omelet with some toast and clover honey sounds about right in a bit...have a good one, guys.  ;)

Morning guys, we have 34 here. Bemidji was reporting 30 a hour or so ago, we usually stay a little warmer, here on the lake, than they are. Don't think it made 45 yesterday & with the 10+ mph NWwind it was bit chilly. I too am worjing on the yard & have a few leaves to finish today. Might make 45-50 here so a day to finish it up

Morning all.  Such a nice day I decided to take the day off.  Nice sunny day here.  Will make more Ice Rigs, plant Glens onions, and maybe do some fishing.  How does that sound?  So how about "rationalize" for the word of the day.  Rationalize = To create an excuse or more attractive explanation for ones conduct.  I "rationalized" that I had a lot of important things to do so took the day off....  Works for me...   OR the Vikes were going to lose one anyway so may as well get it out of the way.

Morning all. Had a good weekend. Got some bow hunting in and some work done around the old homestead. Seen a dozen deer Saturday morning, it was a nice day to be in the woods. I to had the same thought as LPS this morning when I went out and filled the wood burner before going to work. But I managed to pull myself into work. Oh well, I take the whole first week of rifle season off so my vacation is just around the corner. Have a good day all!

The truck read 27 this morning on the way to work.  I hope I mowed the lawn for the last time on Sunday.  I would like to rationalize taking the mower deck off and putting on the tiller for a day and then the snow blower.  But I haven't had time to fertilize the garden yet and I'll probably have to mow the lawn one more time.  I'm hoping to get out in the deer stand this evening after work but we will see how that goes.  Have a good one fellas. :happy1:

I hear ya General.  The last two times we mowed we thought it was the last time.  Now when I walk down to the boat I realize the grass is really long.  Now I am rationalizing that it may be good for it to be long to get through the winter healthier.  ????   Well another day another dollar.  No fish last night just a few bites.  Saw some nets coming out in other boats though.  Just not in the right spot I guess....

Mornin fellers! Well another day, another nickel. I am not as highly paid as some of the others ;) ;) :bonk:. I am planning to hit the deer stand tonight after work. looks like we have a big rain front moving in tonight. I am hoping that gets the deer moving. I was looking at the grass on Sunday afternoon wondering if we should mow it one more time or not. Might not be a bad idea now that all the leaves have finally come down. Could get those all chewed up as well. Have a good day Gents!

Mornin guys, we had 38 here about 6:30. The ground was white here yesterday, Friday too, just after sunrise. Finally finished mulching leaves yesterday & mowed  last week as well, so the mower deck will be coming off today. Blower will be on in the next couple of days. Turned nice yesterday pm (55) so we took the boat out for a while. Not a lot of action but that's OK. Have a good 1

Morning all. 41* and heavy clouds here. Looks like a winter s__w sky. Waiting for that heavy rain we're allegedly gonna get. I'm ready. Got the gutters blown out right before dark last nite, and managed to drag my butt out and get the fertilizing and over-seeding done yday.  Barry, leaving yer grass longer won't help, in fact, in the Spring it contributes to wet turf and snow mold. Ground is unable to dry properly. So I was taught in the turf classes. The shorter the better for that last mow.....
Have a good one guys. I'm gonna take it easy today and try to get over whatever this is I have.

There is a lot of crud going around that's for sure. Had a scratchy throat starting late last week and now it's a full blown head cold. Supposed to leave for another Canadian adventure Thursday so hoping to get enough tincture in my system before then. Drizzly, damp cold day so far with a SE wind blowing 15 mph. Made meself some chicken noodle soup and grilled provolone samich for lunch, washed down with a hot apple cinnamon spice tea, sans tincture. Save that for tonight. In the meantime I feel like finding someplace to nap.
