Let's go back...to the 60's...the good ol' days....remember those summertime drinks that kept ya cool? Started the day out with that fruit juice mix...Beep for Breakfast. I loved the stuff. Maybe with lunch, ya had some Quik, YooHoo or what I hated, but my Mom made me drink, Ovaltine. (Yuk!) Later in the afternoon, a glass of Kool-aid, a tab of Fizzies, (with the jet-action tablets) or a pack of Funny Face.. Rootin' Tootin' Raspberry, Goofy Grape, Injun Orange, Loudmouth Lime...Boy, we had fun stuff. Maybe Dad would bring home a jug of A&W, or even Dad's Root beer. Made great ice cream sodas! When was the last time ya made a root beer float?
For a special treat, I remember my Dad taking me to the little ice cream shop for a strawberry cone after supper, boy that was great!
We either appreciated things a lot more, or they were just plain more fun. Anymore Summertime memories of things that are no more?

Reb thanks for the trip down memory lane. Grandmother made us drink ovaltine when we would get "cranky". The fizzy tabs were a hoot too. And nothing beats a rootbeer float with A&W rootbeer. :happy1:

When I was about 12 or 13 the neighbor kid and I pooled our money together and bought a gallon of A&W Root beer on a real hot day.  We had been playing hard and were thirsty as heck.  We thought we were in heaven.  We sat on his front porch passing the gallon jug back and forth.  Like I said we were in heaven with our own gallon of root beer.  Well our goal was to drink it all.  We drank and drank and drank.  Neither of us wanted to give up.  We finally couldn't drink any more and gave up.  We had a couple of inches left in the jug...

Another time I got invited to the IBP Employee party with a buddies family and they had all the pop you could drink there.  We couldn't believe it.  We drank so much we had to go outside and puke behind the building.  Then we had another one.  BUT it was fun!!!

Root beer floats rule, even tho A&W was the best from the stand, today ya gotta try "Frost Top" root beer.

Adult beverage on these hot summer days new to me is the moscow mule, very refreshing made with ginger beer.

And Mr freezes, have plenty on hand all summer, some kids never grow up.

An excellent RB! Creamy flavor! Frostop makes the BEST RB floats!   My cuz first turned me on to that in 2005. Can't find it down here anymore...Menards even carried it once in awhile. .99 a qt.

I was always more of a sarsaparilla float fan over root beer floats
