That is a great video Lee.  Great sound too so turn it up.  Like how that one jerk kept saying how bad Trubisky is.  He looks like an idiot now.  I really like that kid.  Man there are some great young QBs.

Matt Nagy Expects Bears :blues brothers: to Win Super Bowl Next Season!

Matt Nagy isn't taking the humble route in 2019.  :tut:

The 2019 NFL Coach of the Year has set some lofty expectations for his Bears, asserting that his expectations for next year are nothing short of a Lombardi Trophy.

Coming off a 12-4 season, the Bears will be a popular pick for next year's Super Bowl, as they were just a Cody Parkey field goal away from what couldn't have been an extended playoff run this year. With most of the starters on the No. 1 ranked defense in the league back for 2019, that hype is justified.

There are some concerns, however. The Bears offense looked less lethal with every passing week, and Vic Fangio, the mastermind of that amazing defense, took the Denver Broncos head coaching job.

Mitchell Trubisky was excellent in his sophomore season, but will have to make the leap to star if he wants to validate his coach's beliefs.

Jeez, I wonder where I've heard this story before?

Coming off a 13-3 2017 season, the Vikings will be a popular pick for next year's Super Bowl, as they were just a David Carlson field goal away from beating the Packers that would have led the Vikings to the playoffs this year.  With most of the starters on the No. 1 ranked defense in the league back for 2018, that hype is justified.

There are some concerns, however. The Vikings defense looked less lethal with every passing week, and Pat Shurmur, the mastermind of that amazing run with Case Keenum, took the New York Giants head coaching job.

:reporter; Pro Football Focus: Bears had 3 best cornerbacks in NFC North 2018

 :coffee: ....
The 2018 season was a breakout year for the Chicago Bears defense, and no position group stepped up more the secondary.

  ...
Kyle Fuller and Eddie Jackson made their first Pro Bowl appearances, and the entire group of young defensive backs looked like of the leagues best up-and-coming units.
Pro Football Focus says the Bears had the three highest-graded cornerbacks in the NFC North last season.

  ...
Chicago was the only team in the league with three cornerbacks graded above an 80.
Only one other team, the Houston Texans, had two cornerbacks over 80.

The Bears were PFF's highest-graded defense overall, with the highest run defense and coverage grades of any team in the NFL.
This secondary, with the league's highest-graded safety in Eddie Jackson, were a big part of it.

Bears will release kicker Cody Parkey at start of new league year

The end is in sight for the Cody Parkey era in Chicago. :cheerleader:

 :reporter;
The Bears will release the maligned kicker when the new league year starts in March, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

His fate was sealed when he appeared on the "TODAY" show after his missed field goal at the end of the Bears' wildcard loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. :bonk:

Parkey finished the regular season 23-of-30 on field goals, good for 76.6 percent, with three missed extra points during the year.

He was set to cost the Bears just over $4 million against the salary cap for 2019, and his release will cost Ryan Pace just under $5.2 million due to the guaranteed money still owed on the contract.

Chicago signed former Tulsa kicker Redford Jones to a reserve/future contract earlier this offseason, and the release of Parkey signals they'll bring in even more kicking competition.

The move opens the door for the potential return of  :happy1: to the Bears, if the San Francisco 49ers let him hit free agency.

Adrian Amos will be difficult to re-sign for the Chicago Bears. :pouty:

 :coffee: ....
NFL free agency is set to kick off on March 11 with the legal tampering period allowing for teams and agents to discuss parameters of a contract before the official signing window opens on March 13.
Bears safety Adrian Amos is expected to be one of the most coveted defensive free agents on the open market, and with the Giants' decision to not franchise tag Landon Collins, New York could be a real threat to lure Amos away.

 :happy1: .
Amos has been one of Chicago's most reliable defenders over the last few seasons and has turned into one of GM Ryan Pace's best draft picks. Pace selected Amos in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL draft, which is usually a round that's reserved for depth and special teams players.

  ..
Amos is coming off back-to-back quality seasons for the Bears. He graded as the team's sixth-best defender in 2018, per Pro Football Focus, and was the team's highest-graded defender in 2017.
Now, he'll get a chance to see just how valued he is across the league. The NFL's top safeties are paid between $10 million and $13 million annually, and if Amos is considered in that elite class by at least one team, he'll be as good as gone.
Amos isn't the only key Bears defender hitting the open market. Cornerback Bryce Callahan is expected to have suitors, too, making Pace's job that much more complicated. He can't go 0-for-2 in his attempt to keep the defense in-tact, but there's a good chance both players will be offered contracts at a level the Bears simply cannot match.

Adrian Amos would seemingly be an ideal fit for the #Giants as a replacement for Landon Collins, but I’m told per #NFL sources that a robust market is developing for former #Bears safety with several teams showing interest. :banghead:

Chicago Bears Create $11 Million in Cap Space with Khalil Mack Contract Restructure. :sleazy:

:reporter; Jeff Berckes  5 hrs ago....

  :coffee: .....
The Chicago Bears have freed up significant cap space by converting some of Khalil Mack’s base salary and roster bonuses into a signing bonus. The conversion of $13 million spread over the life of the contract creates an additional $11 million in cap space for General Manager Ryan Pace to spend as he sees fit in this Free Agency period.

  ..
The move was speculated during the off-season as a potential lever for Pace to pull in the event of the right opportunity. At this point, it is unclear what player or players Pace is targeting, but it is likely a contract move like this will correspond to a signing. :happy1:

  ...
Who do you believe the Bears will use this newly freed up cap space to sign? Will Pace use this money to sign multiple free agents to create depth before a draft with limited capital or make a splash signing?

Primetime, Thanksgiving games :Turkey: reportedly on tap for Bears' 2019

 :reporter; ..
While the NFL won’t release its 2019 schedule for another two months, Sports Business Journal reported a few noteworthy details on Monday for Bears fans dreaming of next season.

 :oscar: ....
Momentum continues to build for the Bears to open the 2019 season on Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers, a spot usually reserved for the defending Super Bowl champion. The NFL, per SBJ, wants to give the season opener to Chicago as both the Bears and the league celebrate their 100th anniversaries concurrently. If the Bears indeed get the Thursday night opener, it would be televised on NBC.

 :coffee: ....
The Bears are lined up to play the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on Thanksgiving for the second consecutive year, per SBJ. Prior to last year’s 23-16 win over the Lions — which came on the quickest turnaround in NFL history following a Sunday Night Football game — the Bears hadn’t traveled to Detroit on Thanksgiving since 2014.

The Bears, too, are likely to be in prime time plenty in 2019 as networks look to maximize on the team’s resurgence, talent and personalities. In addition to the teams always targeted for prime time based on their audience — the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers — networks are showing interest in the Bears, Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams for featured or prime time slots, per SBJ. The Bears play four of those teams in 2019: The Packers, Cowboys (at home), Chiefs (at home) and Rams (in Los Angeles), as well as a home date against the Philadelphia Eagles that could interest networks.

  ....
The Bears are already locked into an October game in London against the Oakland Raiders, with WGN Radio’s Adam Hoge reporting that game is likely to take place at Wembley Stadium and not Tottenham Hotspur FC’s new stadium.

Last season’s Philadelphia Eagles-Jacksonville Jaguars game was meant to be played at Spurs’ new stadium, but delays in its opening forced that game to Wembley a day before a critical Premier League match between Tottenham and Manchester City, leaving the field in horrendous condition.  :doah:

Looks like they acquired Cordarelle Patterson. That might be entertaining if he can stay healthy.

Cordarrelle Patterson leaving Patriots to reportedly sign two-year deal with "Da Bears" :blues brothers:

 :coffee: ....
After spending the first four years of his career in the NFC North, it appears that Cordarrelle Patterson is now headed back to the division.
According to ESPN.com, the former Patriots receiver has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Bears that will pay him a total of $10 million. Patterson is headed for Chicago after spending just one year in New England.
During the Patriots' Super Bowl winning season, Patterson basically served as a Swiss Army knife for coach Bill Belichick. Not only did he play receiver, but the Patriots also regularly lined him as a running back. As a matter of fact, Patterson's rushing numbers in 2018 (42 carries, 228 yards, one touchdown) were almost as good as his receiving numbers (21 receptions, 247 yards, three touchdowns).

Of course, the biggest reason the Bears signed him might be for his kick return skills. During the 2018 season, Patterson averaged 28.8 yards per return, which ranked third overall in the NFL. That number will be a huge boost for a Bears special teams unit that ranked dead last in the NFL with an average of just 19.1 yards per return in 2018.

The Bears actually got a first-hand taste last season of what Patterson is capable of doing in the return game. During a Week 7 game between the Patriots and Bears, Patterson returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown during the second quarter of New England's 38-31 win.

Including that score, Patterson has a total of 23 touchdowns in his career, with six coming by return, seven coming on the ground and 10 coming through the air. Patterson's versatility will likely make him a perfect fit for Matt Nagy's offense in Chicago, which means you shouldn't be surprised if you see Patterson catching passes, lining up in the backfield and returning kicks for the Bears in 2019.

The Bears will be the fourth team that Patterson has played for over the past four seasons. :doah: Before agreeing to terms with Chicago, Patterson spent one season with both the Patriots and Raiders (2017). Prior to that, Patterson spent four seasons with the Vikings after they made him a first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

"Decent year" is relative, and only seems good because it was with New England and Tom Brady.

In his first two seasons with MN, Patterson's catch percentage was just 58.4 and 49.3%.  That ain't good.  He only had 2 catches in 2015, and his production has been declining since his  "bounce back" season in 2016.

2016, Minnesota, 52 catches, 453 yards, 2 TD, Catch percentage 74.3%
2017, Oakland, 31 catches, 309 yards, 0 TD, Catch percentage 73.8%
2018, New England, 21 catches, 247 yards, 3 TD, Catch percentage 75.0%

Good luck, Bears.  As a Vikes fan I'll be happy to see him on the field for Bears' offensive plays.  I don't think Zim's defense will be a-scared of him.

BUT, Zim's special teams are another matter.  I'll have flashbacks of Devin Hester when Patterson drops back to receive punts.

Bears GM Ryan Pace named ‘Executive of the Year’ by Sporting News.

   :reporter; USA TODAY.....

 :coffee: ....
Almost three months after the Chicago Bears' breakout 2018 season, the accolades continue to roll in.

Matt Nagy was already named "Coach of the Year", and now the man who hired him is bringing home an honor of his own.

 :cheerleader: ..
Sporting News named Bears general manager Ryan Pace the Executive of the Year.

Today we presented @ChicagoBears general manager Ryan Pace with the 2018 Sporting News NFL Executive of the Year award, as voted upon by his fellow NFL team executives.

Congratulations! pic.twitter.com/ktAAoTKogn

- Sporting News NFL (@sn_nfl) March 24, 2019

The award was voted on by executives around the league who agreed Pace had the best year.

It started with hiring Nagy, followed by a strong free agent group and a draft class that contributed from day one.

Then he put the cherry on top with the Khalil Mack trade in September, setting the Bears up with their best season since 2006.

The success the team had on the field was a direct reflection of what Pace accomplished in the offseason prior, culminating in an Executive of the Year caliber season.

"Da Bears"  :blues brothers: trade RB Jordan Howard to Eagles.

Larry Brown Sports

 :coffee:
The Philadelphia Eagles are adding another running back to their position group.
The Eagles have acquired Jordan Howard in a trade with the Chicago Bears, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, which the Eagles confirmed. Schefter says the Bears are receiving a sixth-round pick in 2020 as part of the deal that can become a fifth-rounder.

  ...
The Bears had been shopping Howard and found a taker in Philadelphia. The deal makes sense for both sides. Chicago has Tarik Cohen and Mike Davis and wanted to get something before losing Howard in free agency. Philly really doesn’t have a No. 1 back and is more or less collecting decent options like Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement, Josh Adams and Donnel Pumphrey.

  ...
Howard had 935 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He had 1,122 and 1,313 yards in the two previous seasons and may end up being the feature back in Philly.

Howard said.... "he can't wait ta punch holes in da Vikes defense" :rotflmao:

:rotflmao: Bears’ kicker competition gets off to laughable start  :rotflmao:

The Chicago Bears were poised for an incredible postseason run, then Cody Parkey missed a 43-yard, game-winning field goal and Chicago’s season came to an end. :pouty:

 :doah: ..
Head coach Matt Nagy brought in eight kickers for rookie camp to find Parkey’s replacement and immediately wanted to challenge them out of the gate. Instead, Chicago’s first session of the kicking competition got off to an ironic and laughable start.

The shanks: Six different attempts to do what Parkey couldn’t, with far less pressure and even better kicking conditions, all six missed going through the uprights. :rotflmao:

Chicago brought in Chris Blewitt, Redford Jones, Elliott Fry, John Baron II, Justin Yoon on deals.
Meanwhile, fellow rookies Spencer Evans, Emmit Carpenter and Casey Bednarski are in Chicago’s rookie camp on tryout deals.

                      The unlikely solution:

In an ideal world, Chicago would love to bring back Robbie Gould to solve its kicking woes and reunite one of the team’s old icons with the city.

Gould, who received the franchise tag, is refusing to sign the tender and recently asked the San Francisco 49ers to be traded.
Unfortunately for Gould and the Bears, the 49ers do not seem interested in relenting and plan to keep him in San Francisco. :banghead:

All Matt Nagy can hope for at this point is a quick turnaround by the young kickers and for one to step up and prove he is worthy for a spot.
Nagy took a gamble by having them all attempt the very same kick that is now burned into the history of Chicago sports and it backfired. At least things can only go up from here for the kickers trying out.

Seems like it usually is  as most teams would rather sign somebody off the street or get 1 right out of college than pay a kicker more than $1-2 mil/year. :bonk: I'm sure some of that's tryin to manage the salary cap but a kicker can decide 2-3 games a year, no problem.
