Just like that we are in the final week of fish houses on the ice as last day is March 31. Walleye season will remain open through April 14. Some anglers on the ice, others on the river in a boat!  Some ice roads in good shape while others are deteriorating, call ahead to the access you plan to use. Ice fishing for walleyes similar to last week as some filling buckets and others working for dinner. Some big females being caught.  Anglers not having to go out very far to find fish. 18-24 feet of water. Some resorts have pulled off while some still going strong. Good numbers of big pike being caught in shallower water with live suckers, big smelt, or hot dogs.  Bait must be through authorized bait dealer.  Auger extensions still needed.

Rainy River spring fishing has begun.  Birchdale is open to all boats with the open water line moving west more every day. Initial reports are good.  Safety first.  Follow the open water line here  on Lake of the Woods Tourism Facebook Page.

The NW Angle fishing continues to be very good heading into the last stretch. Walleyes and saugers in 17-19 feet during morning/evening and 21-25 feet during the day. Pike in shallow bays.  Make sure to get your new fishing license.
