We've had a squirrel in the freezer since fall - my oldest son's first kill of his young hunting career!  He only got one, so not really enough for a meal.  We just haven't had the opportunity to cook it with our busy schedules.  Well, the blizzard gave us that opportunity. I used the Andrew Zimmern Chicken Fried Squirrel in Pan Gravy recipe - cut in-half because we only had one.  This was dynamite! And both my boys ate it up - really nice flavor.  I haven't eaten squirrel since I was young and while my dad tried his best, he was never much of a gormet unless a grill was involved. :cheesy:  So my memories of eating squirrel weren't great.  But I'm a born-again tree rat eater now.  I can't wait 'til fall to get some more!

O wow! That brings back memories! I think I've eaten a gazillion tree rats when I was younger. Poor mans chicken. Get young ones, and ya can cook 'em up like Forrest and Bubba say ya can cook shrimp.....sauteed, batter fried, pan fried, baked....... :azn:
