Does anyone hunt tree rats and bunnies anymore? Sure used to love the heck outta that this time of year...plus eating them. Kept the crack pot full!  For some real fun, try it with a pistol.  :happy1:

We used to eat 20 squirrels a year when we were young bachelors.  We had a big house on the edge of town.  Had huge cottonwood trees.  All of the neighbors fed birds so there were lots of tree rats.  We shot them out the kitchen window on the side of the house opposite town so noone saw us.  One day a nice older neighbor man said "you know Barry there aren't as many squirrels around as there used to be".  LOL  HE KNEW!  SO we slowed down on the harvest.  And yup crockpot is what we did with them too.

Squirrels were the second animals I hunted.  First were gophers.  Hunted them every Sunday in fall.  We would get 5-8 of them every time we went out. My mother fried them like she did chicken.

Never did much tree rat hunten but use to love Snow shoe hunting in the winter with the old Ruger 10/22 and scope.  Can't seem to find them much like I use to since everyone seems to have a hard-on for saving all the predators. I see more Fox, Coyotes, Wolves, Hawks, Eagles and everything else then any danggum white bunny much anymore.
