You probably know some farmers around your area....see if they have some old drag sections that they don't use or need. You can drag them behind a 4 wheeler pretty easy. You may need to clean it a few times, but it will grab all the clutter of of the area.

Soybeans I would get them in by the first part of june if you can. No later then the end of june. And if you get good germ and they grow, I would guess the deer will have them mowed down before rifle season. In mid july or so if you can I would go broadcast some clover right over the top of the beans and then hopefully that is coming in after the deer eat the beans. Good luck buddy!

Yup, I would agree with JB on soy beans, they need to be in the ground, latest, June. Soil temp, at least 60 degrees
Maturity is on average, 90 - 150 days....some hybrids are faster

You can plant beans later, but expect less yield in the pods.

I get wildlife seed mixes at the co-op.... they are mixed for our area of the state and grow real well.

I have bought box store stuff in the past, but you get some seeds in the mix that doesn't germinate, and you may end up with inert weed seeds you don't want.

I do remember one bag I bought from FF that has a very "popular" name brand of rye grass.....most of it was Lamb's Quarters seed....and I wasn't happy.

I bought a bag of clover and  chickory. it was 50 bucks but I didn't have 40 acres to plant. It came in really nice. It's gonna get fed some milorganite fertilizer Saturday when I get back up there.

Clover will last 5-7 years. It thins out over time. We buy our seed from local coop or from bulk supplier online(Deer Creek Seed) then mix our own blend. I am learning though that the tillage radish does not like to have company. They get nice greens but no bulbs.

Like Dotch said put some weight on top of it.  Some logs or bricks or anything.  Will take fewer laps around the patch when it digs in deeper.
