Managed to put together a few wood duck boxes last fall.  1x12x12 of pine and cedar. Cedar was nearly $45 bucks, so only one mother gets to live in luxury.

Look forward to getting them up this spring.

if I remember correctly it's for the little one's to climb out when it's time
a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work!!

look good...
you should get them out now, while the ice is good.. Don't wait too long.

we put 60 out in the end of Jan through a joint effort with our delta waterfowl chapter and groups in red wing.

JohnWester,
Wow, that's quite an effort.  Nice going.

jlynch3,
I assume that's metal conduit.  Last year the bears bent some of our metal polls.  Damn bears.

I got a couple complete houses from a friend.  I need to get them out this spring as well.

hey jlynch3... I'm assuming you are putting wood shavings in the bottom of your houses right?

We have one up on our shoreline that a friend built for us about 4-5 years ago. We don't get any wood duck, but the Goldeneyes sure do use it.
Hey look your bobber is up!

I was able to get out long enough to fill the houses with wood chips. Quite a few ducks and geese on the water already, so I hope its not too late.

Good Luck and Stay Safe.

Should be ok.  Ice just went off on my ponds.

You'll be fine SHB. We've had them nest here in So. MN from late March until late June. I used to belong to the wood duck society but my membership has lapsed. They have a nice website with some good info.  :happy1:

Good read there Dotch. Looks like I will have to invest in some predator guards soon.
