The Vermilion Lake Association will continue its sucker sales this week thanks to a sizable run of white suckers at the Pike River hatchery this year.

The VLA sold about 3,000 pounds of suckers on Monday, the first day of the sale. That's only about half of the 6,000 pounds of the fish netted by DNR fisheries staff over the weekend. The DNR netted an additional 1,800 pounds as of Monday, which should leave plenty of fish available for purchase on Tuesday. The sale is likely to continue much of the week, but interested parties should check https://www.vermilionlakeassociation.org/other-prog this website https://www.vermilionlakeassociation.org/other-programs/rough-fish-removal/ for the latest information on sucker availability. The sucker sale info will be updated by 4:00 pm each day. People can also call Tom Forconi at 218-428-7096.

Buyers who arrive before 8:00 may sign in on a clipboard to record their place in line. Each buyer is limited to one 100-lb tub until all have had their chance.
Suckers are sold for $10 per 100 pounds. Proceeds are used by the VLA for activities at Lake Vermilion.

yeah folks smoke them.   And at 10 cents a pound, you want to get them weighed so you can buy 80 cents worth?

Ya smoking fish is fun but 100 lbs of suckers?  That's a lot of fish to have to process.

Share with your friends.   And they are pretty good sized so maybe only a dozen or so fish per load.
