Hey I don't know about youse guys but me and the wife really like to hit the Perkins in Bemidji.  Great help. Clean place. Great food.  Once I said to the check out gal that I would like a piece of a certain pie to take home with us.  She said "oh this pie is almost to the expiration date.  Do you want the whole pie?  It was a virgin pie.  I said how much.  She said oh free.  LOLOL  I said OK I'll take it.  LOL    So anyways I see that they are in financial trouble or something and many are closing.  Surprises me.  There aren't really any other big chains even competing with them are there?  The Detroit Lakes one is closing.

There's one in red wing. Haven't ate there in a while. The food isn't bad but I've found better places. I know they closed at least one in st cloud.

Both closed down here, then one reopened. Saying it's going to close soon. "They" (CAWchester)  say family-style restaurants aren't the thing anymore. Gotta be the ones with special little piles of caramelized leeks in a wine reduction sauce, with spring chanterelles on a bed of shaved tofu and soused-up duck peckers with fresh watercress.
For $75 a plate.

Not sure on the Bemidji one Barry. I've eaten breakfast there and it was great. I know Reb & Del's Perkins are were gone in Rochester but as far as I know the one in Owatonna is safe for now. One in Faribault was still operating last I knew. Both are in a good spot, right on I-35 both visible from the road so that probably hasn't hurt. Perkins has been around a long time & I can't honestly say I've had bad food anytime I've eaten at one. Occasionally less than stellar service perhaps but that happens just about anywhere these days if you go someplace often enough. The food for being a chain ain't been bad.

Ya we always look at Perkins as the go to place so I hope they don't all close.  At least the one in Bemidji.  We like other places too.  Fun to try new places.

Perkins was always the after-bar place all the drunken boobs would go and destroy after 1:00 am. Never was impressed with their food. Closet thing to good chain food around here was Embers. Denny's sure wasn't, even the free meals they gave us cops. I'd take a soft drink or cawfee, but never a meal.

Wife isn't a big fan of perkins but she says the one that reopened in Roch was doing a good business the other day when she went for breakfast with a friend.  Parking lot always looks pretty full.

A bunch of us geezers meet for breakfast at denny's (miracle mile) every thursday morning..   The guy that owns the franchise is there always...   Food is fine.  What can you do to eggs, sausage, pancakes?  For 4 bucks.   Coffee ok too.

Ya, they were good. Not so much anymore, I don't think. One I do like here is Outback. Pretty good.

I like Denny's too.  We used to enjoy Applebees but we have had bad luck there lately.  We kept going back for lunch's and kept walking out unhappy.  Nice place but not real good lunch's.   Ya I like Outbacks.  Wish one was around here.

Hadn't been to Pizza Ranch for a few years so a couple of us went to the one in Waseca recently. Pizza was OK but the chicken was as good as remembered. If you want pizza in Waseca the Yellow Mushroom on the south end of town is better. Thin crust is truly thin crust and crisp.  :happy1:

Been to the Perkins in Austin after 1 of Mom's Mayo appts. in the last year or so & wasn't impressed with it. :tut: Looked like a big group from the Chamber of Commerce or somethin there when we sat down so the service was less than stellar. Food was OK but nothin special & pretty expensive too. :pouty: We do go to Pizza Ranch quite a bit when we're in town & like their buffet. The chicken is some of the best but like mike said the pizza is pretty bland. Not a fan of their sauce, not enough of it & too bland IMO. But 3 of us for $8-9 a piece, Seniors discount, it's a deal besides Mom always likes chicken so she eats good. There's an Applebees right up the road too & never have eaten there.

The Perkins in Anoka just closed.  I've been to the one in Blaine years ago for some reason I can't remember what it was like.  Hardly go to resturants anyway.  Cook at home  and maybe go out once a year.  Last one I went to was the Island Lake Inn near Duluth and had burgers.  Very good.  Used to be a stop over during deer season for breakfast.  Now with new owners made it into a sports bar.  When I do go to a resturant I always order a burger to see how good theirs is.  One of the best one's I had was at the Casino by Hinkley.  good luck.

That's one thing I do NOT like...these "sports" bars, with blaring TV's all over the place.
Not my idea of an eating atmosphere. But then, I suppose if yer half in the bag, it doesn't matter where ya eat.
