  • "Seems like time is here and gone".....Doobie's
Solved a big Wifi connectivity issue I was having, and wanted to pass it along to others.
I was losing my Internet off and on intermittently....wifi would drop, and doing the Windows issue resolve, I was getting the Windows 10 "Default gateway not available" message, which is a big issue with Windows 10. I'd gone total route over the last month of having Charter ping the (new) modem, No issues (so they said), I have a new Linksys "smart" router that does the goodies; and 'puter was even taken in to check the wifi card (OK), which at that time was blamed on Charter, as they were having issues here. Anyhow, I noticed my 'puter seemed to be "process working" a lot when it happened, so I went into the taskbar and checked what was doing the most CPU processing. While nosing in there, noticed a program that was recently installed by a windows update that I didn't recognize..."Smartbyte app path and drivers''. I looked it up on the internet, and lo and behold, it's causing huge wifi drops and connectivity issues. It's for video streaming, and is installed on all the new Dell 'puters along with Windows 10. Also installed with Dell auto updates. (That's how it was installed on mine) Advice was to uninstall it as soon as ya find it, as it really drags down speeds and causes Wifi drops. Well, I went and did an uninstall and reboot, and *ZOWIE*! Haven't had an issue since!  AND, on a speed test, my speeds went from 38 Mbps to above 60 Mbps!
So, if ya have a program labeled "Smartbyte" installed, and are having connectivity/drop issues, right click on it and uninstall it! Just my .02.... :happy1:

Here's what I found out after I discovered it...
