We had to go and do taxes this morning. Then a couple home repairs when I got home.... now I'm out in the woods checking deer stands.

The weather is so nice, the snowmobilers are out in force running the trails...

Nope, I have not...
I usually set up 4 pop-up blinds in areas that I know they are moving. And pick the best one for the next day by scouting where they are roosting the night before.

Love it when folks are out enjoying the outdoors.  This is a great time to be out in the woods just to be out.  I wish I could go and check our stands up north but my brother said the snow is too deep.  Nice to see you got out there.  good luck.

I was out looking at some tracks along a local woods.I needed to clear my head after this week. Tracks sure tell a good story....the bunny one that starts galloping an stretching out, zig-zagging, then some big swirls and sweeps in the snow, some bits of fur ...then nothing. Looks like Mr. Owl nabbed some dinner.

I've heard that hunting from elevated deer stands makes it easier for turks to pick off your movements from a distance.

I know we've had a couple of old tree stand threads and I figure this one was as good as any to resurrect.

My daughter sat in this one last year and said she wouldn't go back up it this year.  I don't blame her.  It was pretty wiggly.  One of the two dead tree is no longer carrying any load.  The criss-crossy, bridge-bracey looking things I nailed up yesterday firmed it up quite a bit.  :happy1:

P.S.  I see the 20-year old burlap wrapping the stand ain't doin' much good to break up your silhouette from down below.  I might have to swap that out next year.  Crazy thing is... seems like you are pretty covered up when you are sitting behind it.
