So really the little girl set the hook, but her brother brought it in. They should share the credit a bit more with her!   :pouty:

That kid holding the fish should be a basketball player as he has to be at least 6 foot 6 inches tall.  I really doubt the fish was 72 inches because that would mean it is 6 feet from the ground to his mouth.  Also the fish would weight around 100 pounds.  Something fishy here.

X 3......

I used an old trick...onscreen measurement with length of a known object. OK, kid looks like he has big feet, say size 12 or a foot tops, that'll make fish even bigger with that measurement.  So, marking his foot length on a piece of paper, and going from ground up from rear of his foot, to tail of fish, also noting fish is closer to cam, and off the ground a ways, so deduct a bit of size...I come up with about 58-60" tops. That's my take......try it. See what you get.

First of all it was a great catch by that kid.  But I don't know of any lake that has sturgeon in it in the Pine City area.  Could be wrong, but except Grindstone Lake by Sandstone has some in it.  A former state record came out of there by the same guy who caught the state record brown trout out of there [Carl Lovegren I believe his name was and I met the guy several times on the ice and in his home on the lake].  Not many in there but there are some.  Fished that lake since the early 70's almost every year and never caught one.  I can also see the shoreline which looks much like the western shoreline with the steeper banks.  good luck.
