That way he got in with 2 bottles of gin instead of only one they allow.

So my Epson fax printer that I have been bragging about had an issue.  The fax quit working.  I thought it was the modem so I called my phone company buddies here and they came over and determined it was the fax machine that was shorted out.  I bought it in Jan from Amazon.  They wouldn't replace it so had to call Epson.  I am a Saint.  I started the phone conversation at 9:15  Just got done with the 4th or 5th person at 11:25.  They are all related to Moojibar.  Couldn't understand squat.  I stayed nice since I was trying to get something out of them.  Each one wanted to troubleshoot the situation as they are looking at a card in front of them.  Finally they gave me female Moojibar who was a little easier to understand and is their superior or something.  The phone connection kept dropping.  I think they just do that if it is not an easy call for them.  SO they are sending me a new fax printer and at the end said they don't need a credit card just throw the old one away.

Well, at least ya got it replaced!! The female's named Manjula Nahasapeemapetilon ARE easier to understand....I don't know why, but I can't understand a word those people are saying. No problem with any other accent, but their's is impossible for me.
No way could I go to an Indian Cuisine restaurant, I'd be there for three hours ordering.
And then I'd end up with toasted cow hoofs and katchup, or something.

Del how do you know these things.  You did a lot more than you are letting us in on in High School didn't you?  LOL

I did my hitch in the Army.  In basic we got a demo of the LAW.  We didn't get to fire one, that was for the lucky guys who went to fort polk La to Advanced training for the infantry.   I missed out and went to fort ord and ended up a programmer...  My IBM experience got me something.

We did get to burn a lot of 223 ammo and throw a hand grenade... not at the same time.

"...an "uptick" in crime in CAWchester."  That's hilarious!!!  :rotflmao:  Nothing to be concerned about here, citizens.  It's just an uptick.

Last weekend the TV was on 'CCO while the Weather Morjits were tracking Armageddon blowing through the state.   My apologies to those those affected by the severe weather, but if I hear Lisa Meadows tell me one more time to go to my "Safe Place" (or mispronounce the name of another town in out-state MN or western WI), I'm going hurl!   :puke:

Truth be told...  I shouldn't blame Lisa Meadows.  I'm sure she was coached (required) to say exactly what she said and for as many times as she said it.

The consultants and analysts and the bosses and the lawyers have ruined local TV news.

As for "Polar Vortex..."  That one has been around for a couple of years and the term has become old hat.  Since we are desensitized to the dangers of Polar Vortex by now, the Wedder Morjit Consultants will come up with something even more terrible sounding.

I know. Polar Vortex was worn out years ago. I heard "Atmospheric tornado".....it's a T'nado that doesn't touch ground. Uh....aren't they ALL atmospheric tornadoes ?!

If you want some really great ones, then you know James Thurber was a master of them. I'm fortunate to have some first edition books of his. Maybe they should use a few of his.....His wordplay cracks me up. A partial look at some....my favorite is pussgrapple.  :rotflmao:

An excerpt from a review of his books..

PUSSGRAPPLE. A bickering or minor disturbance; an argument or dispute among effeminate men. Also, less frequently, a physical struggle between, or among, women.”

BLESSGRAVY. A minister or cleric; the head of a family; one who says grace. Not to be confused with praisegravy, one who extolls a woman's cooking, especially the cooking of a friend's wife; a gay fellow, a flirt, a seducer. Colloq., a breakvow, a shrugholy.

FUSSGRAPE. 1. One who diets or toys with his food, a light eater, a person without appetite, a scornmuffin, a shuncabbage. 2. A man, usually American, who boasts of his knowledge of wines, a smugbottle.

And there are such other expressive coinages as Kissgranny,  Cussgravy, Bassgrave, and Hossgrace. All of these comic compounds show Thurber's interest in remaking language, playing with the relationship between sound and meaning, pushing back the limits of the familiar, and transforming the terrain into something strange and new.

I'd like to know why CAWchester has their nozzle stuck so far into this...the Elk Run land, is in Goodhue county, Pine Island, with only a tiny portion of it entering into Olmsted County. (CAWchester is Olmsted cty) So why is it being brought into a city council meeting?!

Prairie Island Indian Community’s plans for Elk Run land address concerns, offer opportunities

Leaders from Rochester and the Prairie Island Indian Community met face-to-face Monday to discuss Prairie Island's plan to convert 1,200 acres of Elk Run into tribal land.

“It answered a lot of questions,” said Rochester City Council Member Shaun Palmer, speaking to Tribal President Shelley Buck, who gave a 20-minute presentation on the tribe and its plans for the Elk Run land near Pine Island.

Palmer was among City Council members who sought more information regarding Prairie Island's request for support of a potential Congressional designation giving the land reservation status.

Council Member Nick Campion also indicated the added information was helpful.

“I realize sometimes it feels like one more step along the way, but it’s also good to get this additional information,” he said. “It makes it easier for the community to understand what’s happening.”

The effort to extend the tribe’s reservation land will create additional housing for its membership.

Prairie Island has used up most of its current land. A little more than 200 of the tribe’s 1,030 enrolled members live on the reservation along the Mississippi River near Red Wing, according to Buck.

“We can’t expand any further in residential lots,” she said, noting another 150 are on a waiting list for 1-acre residential lots.

She said the current reservation is limited by three factors: a risk of flooding, a nearby nuclear plant and an active rail line. All three pose threats, she added.

The flooding stems from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers construction of Lock and Dam No. 3 in 1938. The infrastructure flooded acres of existing tribal land and put other land in a floodplain, making it unusable for most construction.

The proximity to Xcel Energy’s Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant also makes housing a challenge.

“A lot of the younger kids don’t want to live near the nuclear power plant or deal with flooding every year,” Buck said.

The third challenge is an increased amount of rail traffic through the area. The rail line crosses the only road providing access to the reservation. Rail-line freight includes frequent loads of crude oil, which adds to potential challenges.

Buck said the acres near Pine Island — part of the failed Elk Run development — provide a prime opportunity to expand the tribe’s supply of land and attract members who want to return to the area. The land meets federal requirements by being within 50 miles of the original reservation and is within the 1,500-acre limit.

Placing the land into federal trust allows the tribe to access federal government programs while maintaining its right to govern the land as its own civil jurisdiction.

Buck said the land will also offer the tribe options for future diversification of its economic portfolio.

While the tribe’s casino, Treasure Island, has helped it become self sufficient and fund programs from family services and health care to law enforcement, she said it’s important to find other income sources, which could be built on the new land.

“We don’t want to compete with anyone,” she said, previously noting that includes the tribe’s existing gaming operations. “We want to help build this area and make it better.”

So far, the tribe has received written support from Olmsted and Goodhue counties, Pine Island and Oronoco, as well as Xcel Energy.

Rochester City Council President Randy Staver said he expects Rochester will be added to the list on Aug. 5, when the council revisits a request for a resolution supporting the tribe.

“I expect it will fly through this time,” he said.

Welp, as HD would say, I dropped into my most hated store, Sly-vee, home of the rip off, becuz they had my favorite thick-sliced bacon on a super sale for $2.49 lb. Had to stock up freezer when the chance presents itself! Sale started yday morn, as the sales around here are..on Wednesdays. Stopped in at 1:00 PM.....couldn't find it, just Hy-vee brand for a buck more. I asked where it was, "Oh we ran out"... I blasted the guy that the sale just started that morning!!!  :angry2:  "We'll substitute the Hy-vee brand, only a dollar more...THIS is why I hate that place! It's always the bait and switch crap, and over priced. I walked out.
They've done that crap many, many time. That's why I quit going.Someone oughtta step on their toes legally for that crap. So I run over to my Mom 'n Pops butcher shop, where really nice looking 8 oz ribeyes were on sale for $3.99 each. Cooler where they were was swarming with people. Some fat Bovine grabbed a huge  a pile of 'em in the case, leaving about four.....%$#@
I aksed Rob if he had any more coming out..."Ya, about 400, Mark...ya want all of 'em?"  :rotflmao: They keep up on demand like a good store should. Four of Sly-vee's 4 oz 85/15 hamburger patties were SIX BUCKS...I just got my tube of it for $2.39 at Fareway!!!!!
That's $6 a lb!  That place is insane.

(I did manage to get the very last 8 pkgs at Fareway, they're now closed.  :undecided:)

Yup, I pretty much avoid Sly Vee as much as possible. One in Owatonna is crowded and full of old people like me! Once in a while they have Crown on sale for a competitive price but they're a HS place to buy gin!  :rotflmao:

With the local grocery & meat market here and Fareway in Owatonna open when the meat market isn't, there's no reason to purchase meat at Sly Vee.  :happy1:

Here is something about Hy Vee that most people don't know about.  The only choice beef they have is in the service case period.  All of the rest in their regular meat case is Select. Same stuff that Walmart got.  They give it a fancy name but it's crap.  In general they have a nice store with some things other grocery stores don't have like making things on the spot to eat and the service is good.  But as far as the beef, Forget it.  Ya i see their ads and you have to be careful what you are buying as far as beef.  Cub last weekend had a three day sale on Farmland bacon for 2.99 ea. for 16 oz.  good luck.
