I was wondering if you guys cut out the "pin bones"
I never have, but, I have had a few stuck in my teeth.
I think I'm going to start doing this......

my wife first started us doing that... after we cleaned the fish they went to her and as she rinsed them she would cut them out.. so we just do it that all the time now...
-
Yep we take em out. I cleaned fish that way for years, now its rip thru with electric and take the rib bones before skinning.
-
Yup, I just run the blade entire length and end up with 2 pieces. I also leave that skin on. Like the crunch.
-
Yep, I have been taking the pin bones out for many many years. I would get them stuck in between the gum and tooth in my mouth and it hurts.
-
Yeah, me too. I give some away to friends & family so they may end up being ate by some little people. Don't really want them having issues with them, done it for years as well
-
i got a better way...........just throw them back!!!!!!!!!! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: crappies are other peoples fish!!!!!!
seriously though.........along the same lines as taking them pin bones outta walleyes!!!!
-
We only take crappie in spring iceout time 2-3 meals of them. And yes I started removing pin bones years ago had to many stuck in the roof of my mouth ,That hurts and last as long as a slopoke

Good info for folks, thanx for posting, however we never keep larger fish where the pin bones don't cook out such as walleyes 18"s and up,then its a good idea.Crappies/ sunfish and perch? These little bones cook right out but to each they're own.
-
I never found any pin bones, but i fillet to the skin when going around the ribs,
-
take a look at the video again, pin bones ride on the top of the rib cage and below the loin, run your finger along the loin and you'll feel these little bones.
-
I go by the size of the bones in the fish...
A nice big walleye or lake trout I take them out.
A bluegill or little walleye, don't bother.
You can also pull them out with a tweezer or long nose pliers like the tv chefs do.
-
Fry 'em up with the skin, slap 'em on a bun with lettuce and tartar sauce, and chomp away.

-
You dip stick, I eat fish, I just wouldn't ruin them putting tarter sauce on fish.
-
You didn't say that, ya pointy head!!! OK; we'll add tartar sauce to yer list... :mooning:
