This can be about any topic.... outdoors, indoors, on the road, pet peeves, neighbors, mother-in-law....just use your imagination. >:(

Ok, so let me start the gripe site off.

My gripe was today when at the bank drive up window. I sent my deposit in the vacuum tube to the window teller. Then this guy pulls up to the next window with the boom box blasting and windows down. The teller got on the speaker to tell me something and I told her "I cant hear you".

I figured something was wrong with my deposit ticket, but I can't hear anything she says on the second try. So I yelled over politely to the guy to turn down the music since I cant hear the teller. He turns and stares at me saying nothing with the music still blasting. The teller sends back my checks and deposit ticket and I fixed my error and sent it back.

Meanwhile the cashier was trying to talk to the radio dude thru the speaker so he had to turn down his radio so HE could hear her. What a moron this guy was. He's lucky he pulled out quickly, since I was just gunna send my wife over there stomp his head. ;)

I look at my clock on the cell phone, 7:59 pm. ?He say they are closed, I point to the time and say I just need a new car/cig lighter charger... he just waves BYE-BYE to me. ?Well F him and someone is going to get a nasty poor customer support call on monday. ?What a JO.

BFG,

The same thing happened to me at Austads Golf, I pulled up about 5 minutes before closing and the door was locked, a couple employees were inside, so i knocked on the door, they sat and looked at me for a minute or 2. Finally they come to the door and yelled through that they were closed, I yelled back that it was 5 minutes to. I never did get in, but the next day i went in at a busy time for them and told the manager about the incident in front of about 10 customers. He offered me a discount and some other stuff, but at that time I stopped listening and told myself I would never go back.

They lost a good customer and the manager knew it, he knew who I was and how much money I spent in that store. To this day I have not been back. This was a little over a year ago.

After yesterday I was getting prepared for a topic called the BIG D as in divorce.

The divorce is done and final. I was awarded the 42 acres, have to cut her a 5 digit check and take over some outstanding medical and credit card bills I didn't know about. She was supposed to be of the property by Nov. 30 of 2005.

She hasn't moved yet (I'm going to have to have her evicted) Yesterday I went over there with a friend knowing she wouldn't be there because of her mothers birthday. What I found was a garage that had the two sliding doors removed. It was then pushed over with my skid loader still inside.

The 30 x 45 pole shed I built 4 yrs ago had the door stops removed so they could be pulled off, which also caused a couple gashes in the tin.

The skid loader had four flat tires due to what appearred to be slashes from a knife. All the hydaulic hoses from the skid and it's attachments had been removed. I would guess that the sugar might need to be drained from the gas tank also.

Now to the barn about ten yrs ago the hayloft had the floor joists and flooring replaced. Yep that has all been ripped out leaving the barn within a slight breeze of coming down. Oh not to mention the bale conveyor had been taken out also.

The other shed that is 15 x 45 that I insulated and put osb on the inside has had the OSB taken off, the insulation taken out and thrown all over the lawn. The wiring I had done to that building had been cut once between each wall stud and the wood stove and refridge in there are gone. Not to mention my tool chest shelving and other things.

Now to things that have dissappeared piles of wood fence posts, t-posts, miles of brand new barbed wire, a pile of pole shed tin about mid thigh high, traps, a mountainous pile of 2 x 4's and 2 x 6's. This list can go on.

And how was your day >:( Yes first thing tomorrow I am getting ahold of my attorney.

Thats my only gripe.

THAT SUX GRIZ.? I sure am glad that I refused to budge. Mine left me instead? :D.? I suppose I will have to pay her a pile to get rid of her, but at least my farm is still intact!!!

SMG - If I start gripping about my mother-in-law on here, I'll smoke this keyboard :o.

I'm thinking by the time this is over she'll owe me money or be in jail. Anyway it does suck but I keep my sanity by remembering no matter how bad things are someone else has it worse.

Griz;
Stick to your guns, Buddy! looks like she dug herself a BIG hole this time.  Remember, it's only stuff and it can be replaced.  My divorce was three years long, cost me into the 5 digits, and I lost a pile of stuff but I got custody of the kids so I won!   ;D lemme know when we can hook up and you can tell me all about it over  a beer.  :)

Griz that is one hell of a brutal story. I am really sorry to hear of your situation. And  I'm sorry to hear that there's someone out there who thinks - what you described - was a good idea. Seems reasonable to think you might get some of your money back. It's got to be hard though to see someone you once cared about turn so hateful.

Fawkinnae

This was not really a surprise to me, thats why I had the place video taped shortly after I  had to move out, when it was still in good shape.

The funny part is she called me up on my way home from work tonight. She asked if I wanted to go to a party with her this W/E to try and work things out. I said " No, I don't trust you and does it look like I have stupid written on my forehead."

It's been 2 yrs and all I want to do is move on with my life.

NOW SOMEONE ELSE MUST HAVE A GRIPE ABOUT SOMETHING EVEN IF IT'S THAT YOUR WIFE CAN'T LEAVE THE TOILET SEAT UP. ;D GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. ;D ;D

In June the hinged lid blew off my $36.00 Igloo cooler in route to the lake. Attached to the lid was my custom built work station including clippers on retractable cable...stainless pliers in holster.. 2 worm blowers (velcroed on)... fish counter clicker and hook sharpener stone. Value total of $35.00

I called Igloo and I ordered a replacement lid and it was $9.00 for the lid and $9.00 for shipping so I said ok send it. I left the lidless cooler on the patio.

We then left for a 3 week vacation to the Boundary Waters.? My son stopped at the house weekly to cut the lawn and the neighbor fed the cat and took the mail.

When we returned I saw that Igloo delivered the lid and of course it's the wrong one. I went out to the patio to get the lidless cooler and it was gone.

After some research I discovered that my son thought it was useless garbage so he threw it out.

$36.00 cooler gone
$35.00 custom work station tools gone
$? 9.00 new lid wasted
$? 9.00 shipping wasted
$36.00 cooler replacement cost
$35.00 custom work station tools replacement cost
? ? ? ? ?
$160.00 TOTAL LOSS

Thanks for listening to my gripe! ;)

back in the day when i was still drinking! I made a few mistakes one was with my taxes  :o . Yes i said taxes so i went to see old uncle SAM. Not a very forgiving S.O.B.  but i knew the answer i would call one of them high priced tax lawyers. I found JK Harris in the book and on T.V. So i ran over and you guessed it they promised me the moon. everthing i wanted to hear. Now I'm not totally stupid he's a lawyers so he gets paid to lie I know. So i only believed half of what he said and figured that it would still be worth it. So i gave that piece of s$%# $4,000 and off we went its been allmost 2 years now he said it would take 4 months. So i just got my final letter from Sammy And i saved  $0.00 thats wright they took 4 grand and did nothing!!!

If i had all day i could tell you how bad they really are. I made the prob i know and ill pay for it but who could hit a man when he's at his lowest I'll tell you   JK Harris  thats who

Friday 9/22 Arrived 5:00 am at boat launch observing mild lightning flashes to the North and West. I unhooked the boat ready for launch figuring to wait and see what the weather was going to do.

My clients arrived at 5:30 am and seemed plenty jittery about the weather conditions.
They said they don't want to fish in the lighting and I assured them that I won't launch until it passed the area. I had the weather radio on and it said it was going to pass over and it was mainly to the north.

I explained that standard procedure is to wait it out for an hour to see if it clears before throwing in the towel. These guys were feeding off each other saying repeatedly that they didn't want to get fried.

I assured them that I would not take them out in unsafe conditions so let's wait it out a while. After a whole 15 minutes they decided that waiting was not an option an cancelled and left. >:(

I was not in the best of moods since it cost me a half tank of gas and 3 hrs round trip driving. Went home and looked at the radar and saw that it all passed the area within 15 minutes and my clients couldn't wait that long. >:(

Thanks for listening to my gripe!? ;)

Ol PUTZ used to go to the drive up teller, wait in line, smelling exhaust, listening to boom boom from other cars, getting mad then the teller send your stuff to another car and thats when I said never again.
Now ol putz goes inside the bank and it is much quieter inside and it smells better and they can only give your stuff to you.  Have been doing it this way for 5 years now and I don't have to leave my truck run.

The Bad News: The boat and car were in the driveway when the storm warning sirens went off. So I ran out to back the boat into the garage and the storm hit. I couldn't see well with the downpour so I backed the prop into the wall of the garage and bent the prop.

The Good News: I did the same thing last year and stopped at the prop shop in Herman Town MN. on the way up the BWCA. Told them "I'll pick it up on my way back home" He said hold on a few minutes and came back with my repaired prop and said have a nice trip the repair is on me.

Well, I guess I'll be stopping there again in July. This time I'll insist on paying for the repair work. Boy, that would never happen in my area. Good thing I recently purchased an extra prop.

Good thread!

Although I might take up all your server space! Lol!

St Croix River.

I don't know who I should be griping about! The pleasure boaters, correction...the captains of the pleasure boats, the DNR, the Sherriff's deputies....or all the above.

For those of you that haven't been on the scenic St Croix, it's more of a lake that a river from Stillwater, MN south...14 miles to where it flows into the Mississippi.

Sturgeon fishing is anchoring...generally to one side of a half mile wide river. For some reason anchoring during the day or night we become magnets for these cruisers.
State law reads I have 150' of personal space. I've had sail boats under power that would have broken off my 8' rod had I had one out on that side. A close friend of mine had ferry boats that have been close enough to have a converstation with the deck hands...(not very nice ones either). Stanley Hubbers (owner of Hubbard broadcasting) Mimme, a large yaght was headed directly for us one night. (I always anchor with as many lights as I have including head lamps on)  An underhanded toss would have put a 3 oz sinker on it's deck. My customers were slightly nervous to say the least!

The dnr and sherriff boats see this all the time but I've never seen a cruiser stopped...for anything.

I'm was at the point of not fishing the Croix any longer just for safety reason. The only thing that has delayied my decision is that with the colder weather setting in, more an more cruisers are going to storage.

I believe in sharing the river with everyone...but not at the point of my personal safety...

Maybe it's time for a talk with the boat patrols?

Rant off.

Time to go fishing! ;D

As I proceeded down the next block I spotted only one flag. :(

Our flag flies proudly 24 hrs 365 days!  How about yours? If not, how about putting it out now to Honor Our Veterans this weekend.  Years ago folks never had to remind each other to put out their flags for holidays. What a display of support and pride it was up and down the block.

Roland Martin has gone a little to far in promoting this kind of junk into the fishing industry. Anything for the almighty buck. Is this something you'd like your youngsters to start out with as an introduction to fishing fundamentals?

In my opinion a true legend like Roland Martin should never introduce/indorse junk like this into an industry that has been so good to him.

we have talked about this before.
the way I look at it is if it gets a kid outdoors who might otherwise not, I am all for it.
would this gimmick do that?
I would say a kid that has little enthusiasm about most things and there are plenty of those kids nowdays, might be enticed to take his rocket over to the pond just to play with it and maybe catch a fish at the same time.
who care I guess.
I agree that really wasnt the point, but just trying to shed a little different angle on the subject.

Gripe #1 how can you gripe about Oklahoma?
Gripe #2 I have been livid with capras for about eight years. I had a transducer checked by Christensen in the back (he is the best) it still had use as a back up so I kept it and went to check out with a whole new one and a camo suit. At the till was a new clerk screwing up everything and taking forever. It took about 15 minutes for my turn and I told him the old transducer was mine but he charged me an extra $31.00 for an internal part. I wasn't going to put the peple behind me in line through another hour of waiting so I left to come back later. When I returned behind the till was a spare tire around the waist grey haired fella about 55 on a stool. I could tell By the way he labored off the stool that he didn't want to be bothered by any customers.I explained what happened and he spun the reciept back at me and said that I must have bought something else. I repeated my story to him as he climbed back on his chair to which he crossed his arms and repeated louder NO YOU BOUGHT SOMETHING ELSE! I had to leave for fear I would punch this pr***. The previous 3 years I had traded an average of $1000.00 there. I realize this is peanuts to Capras but I will not step foot in there again. And take every opportunity I can to tell what a wonderful place they run over there. GO TO THORNE BROTHERS.

I have never been to Capras, but I do not understand what you are saying either, the clerk charged you for a part that you never bought? You should of taken the time to make it right the first time there, maybe you should call your buddy that looked at the ducer and he can clear things up for you. The 2nd guy you dealt with had nothing to prove that you didn't buy something extra, how could he rectify the situation on your word alone?

This doesn't seem to me like a "Capras" deal, it was miscommunication between you and one of there employees, why fault the entire store for one employees misunderstanding? You need to talk with the right person and make them understand the whole story, when you get all pissed off and threatening, he has every right to ignore you.

My 2 cents....

I have a Gripe,

And it's about the Gals. Why is it that they have the need to out do us in the field?

Like it is some sort of competition or something? I know we have spent some good time and money to get the gals into fishing hunting shooting or what ever.

I have noticed in so many sites and threads that the gals just have to rub our noses in stuff when they out do us.

Now don't get me wrong I like it when my wife shoots a good score or even out  fish's me time to time.

But when was the last time one of us guys looked at his wife and said I out shot yea or out fished yea.

Man if we did that we would NEVER here the end of it,,,I know for sure.

But why do they have to do it? Just seems wrong is all.

My wife don't say it allot,,,mostly cuzz I don't give her a chance to out shoot me.

But I do see allot of other gals say it online.

Just a Gripe is all

There is nothing wrong with a little competition in the feild. I know my husband and I joke about it all the time.  I do think it is how you take it. If you feel like they are rubbing your nose in it, they are probably getting you back for a different time.  Guys do it all the time with each other, whats the difference if a girl steps in and lets you know hers is bigger, she is really just trying to get your attention and some man attention. ;D luvnlife

Now luvnlife-you (being a woman) of ALL people should know that us MEN are simple creatures.  We don't respond well to subtle hints-in fact you'd be lucky if we respond at all!  We need you (Women) to be blunt and to the point if it's "Man attention" that you need!  ;D

Right now I'm hearing it from my spouse cuz she kicked my butt in the MNO Nascar League!  I'm soooooooo glad I invited her to play along with us!  ::) ;)

Heres a gripe:
While LUVNLIFE  is up stairs learning her next fishing technique, or bragging about the big bucks she shoots off "HER" deer stands, I am down in the cold basement doing laundry, so while I'm breaking my back at work tomorrow , I have some clean clothes to wear.  No wonder the "women of today" out do us in the field, us men keep tripping on our skirts.   I am making a stand here, enough is enough, I am not doing anymore housework until she forces me to. If you know what I mean.

P.Ss
LUVNLIFE if your reading this I could use a warm blankie and a cold beer down here.

I lent a friend of mine a golf travel bag. anyway when he brought it back it was broken. he told me the airlines did it. so what does that mean. i have to replace it because i lent it out to a friend and while in his possesion it was damaged ?? maybe i am over thinking this. i was brought up a  Little diffrent than that. my father taught us that if we barrow something and it gets damaged we should either fix it better than new , or replace it. is it wrong of me to be upset at my friend.  please chime in and let me have it .

I don't think you are wrong at all.

I borrowed my father in laws turck while the tranny was being replaced on my truck and noticed a few things wrong with it so I fixed them (I use to be a mechanic). I didn't break them but he got it back better than he left it and with more gas in it to boot. That is the way it should be.

I was always taught to leave things better than when you found them (or borrowed them in this case)

I have a friend who has let me borrow his truck several times for projects since i sold mine last year. whenever I borrow it, I fill it up, top of his fluids, pick up any trash in it, etc...

It is only common sense and respect that he should take care of anything that happens to your stuff while in his possession whether it was his fault or the airline.

good luck holdemtwice

My guide service business has never been so busy as it's been this year. So, this new client calls and books at trip for him and his wife for the next week. I explained that he must send his deposit to me in the mail right away to secure his date. He says no problem consider it done. I checked for the deposit each day but never received it. ::popcorn::

Now, since we had a holiday (Columbus Day) with no mail I figured it would come late. The day before the guide trip the mail arrived, but no check. I called him up and had to leave a message at his pastry business. In three hours he calls back and I explained that I never received his deposit. Well, he explained "that's because I never sent it". He said that when he told his wife about the trip she didn't want to go. He said I figured when you didn't get the check you'd know were not going. puke.gif

I was real ticked off and and told him I could have booked that date with someone else if he had told me up front and now I lost a whole days pay because he was a moron. :death2:

I should order some pastries from his shop and never pick them up! :taz:

So that's my gripe for today and thanks for listening.

Hey this is the gripe site.  Stop being so cheerful and friendly.  Just kidding.  I do have a gripe though.  My neighborhood is riddled with druggies and criminals who couldn't care less about their family, the neighborhood, any person's life, welfare.....I've lived there 14 years and its gone down hill steadily.  It is on an upward slop but good change is so slow.  The neighborhood consists of about 50% duplexes.  That puts double the normal amount of people in that block and many of them are transient -- they know their leaving some  day so they don't care to take care of anything.  I'd like to buy them all up and remodel them into single family homes but IM not rich.

Thats my gripe.

Here's my latest GRIPE. :taz:

About 2 weeks ago one of my clients wanted to set out an extra rod, so I set him up with an ultra light combo of mine. I always tell my clients when using my equipment "If you loose it you bought it". So, anyhow I set it up for him and told him to always leave the anti-reverse lock off. This way if your not watching it when a fish hits the reel will spin freely and you can grab it. ::popcorn::

Well, the first thing you know he leaves the lock on and I noticed it so I told him to leave the lock off. He stated that a fish will never pull it in. I followed by telling him if it was his rod I wouldn't give a crap! He then took off the lock. About a half hour later he forgot to leave the anti-reverse lock off again and a smallmouth grabbed the bait and over the side went the rod & reel in 31 ft of water.  oops2.gif

Every time I fish that area with clients I tell that story so If anyone snags the rod they know it's mine. ;)

Now for the rest of the story: ::popcorn::

About a week and a half after the incident we were fishing the same spot in 31 ft. of water and one of my clients hooked what he thought to be a fish. As he began to reel it up he realized it was something other than a fish. Soon he noticed some fishing line at the end of the hook and stated " I think I found your lost rod". Sure enough it was a rod and reel and he was so happy to have rescued my rig.

I congratulated him on a job well done after his victory dance. Now!  I exclaimed, there's good news and bad news. The Bad news is that's not my rod and reel. The good news is you got yourself a free new rig. ::hittingself::

I've been busy 6 days a week with the guide service. :fishing:  It seems that there are still enough folks left with some money during these hard times and I intend on getting some of it while it lasts.  I was supposed to be out on the water today, but the radar at 2:00 am told me to cancel today's outing.

So, I called my clients at 2:00 am and told them to look at the radar and forecast of 100 percent chance of thunder storms all day. They were more than happy to cancel. Naturally all the storms on the radar vanished within 2 hrs and we could have gone out. :doah:  Thank you National weather service geeks!  :bs:

The first thing you can do about gas prices is drive less. The second thing is slow down. Everyday when I am pulling the work trailer or boat at posted speed limits I am passed and given dirty looks from drivers speeding by. Not even 4.00 a gas is slowing people down.   :banghead:

That's the first thing that SHOULD be done.

All that talk about that new super worm that was set to hit 1,000's of computers on April 1st decided to put me on the prefired list and wiped me out. Therefore I've been without a computer until today when I picked it up from the service center.

When I hooked it back up at home today I found that they wiped out tons of my stuff including years of fish photos even after they had backed it up backed it up and reinstalled it. Now I have to take it back in the morning and drop it off again. They replaced my video DVD player and that don't work either. Can't get on my msn for mail and it won't accept my password or recognize my e-mail address.

Looks like I'll be down for who knows how long. training-087  :taz:  :puke:

I learned my lesson the hard way after telling everyone to back up stuff.  My hard drive died (mechanical failure) about 6 months after the warranty expired.  I lost 10 years or more of family pictures-and who knows what else.  Actually it's all still there, still have the hard drive (in storage) in case the cost of data recovery comes down.  So it's not totally lost-but may as well be for the time being.

I've now got a external backup to my internal backup.  Google Rocketfish-they make a nice hard drive enclosure with a one button back up feature.  They only sell them at Best Buy stores-or check on e-bay  ;)

My gripe is ungrateful employees.  You give them the schedule that they want. The days off that they want whenever they ask, usually the day before they want off. Give them a x-mas bonus and holidays even though NOother employer in there field gives them. Pay them better than all of the other places in town, and what do they give you when you ask them to help cover some hours in the new store until we get new staffing hired.   You guessed it.

So far we have only ONE employee that is helping out.  She will be the only one getting a bonus this x-mas.  ALL of the others are just complaining.  It might be time for them to get replaced by employees that are interested in being a team player!!!!

Afeel much better already.  Thanks for listening to my gripe.

I went to the E.R. for pains that turned out to be kidney stones. They shot me up full of stuff including morphine and gave me a CT scan. Well I don't have health insurance so I couldn't afford the medication to desolve them or afford any pain killers. Well I passed them naturally last week and it hurt like a MOTHER @#$@#&. Just got my hospital bill and it's over $6,000!!!
My gripe isn't the pain or anything like that but it's that since I am a LEGAL citizen of the United States with a full time job I have to pay every last penny of my bill BUT if I was in this country illegaly like Obama's aunt I would have all of my hospital bills paid for by all of you hard working tax paying Americans.
I think I'm going to apply for a Mexican citizenship and live off of all of you for the rest of my life. I'd have a retirement plan, kids would go to college for free, never pay taxes oh and if I ever need a organ transplant I get bumped up to the very top of the list no matter if I smoke, drink, do drugs or am 105 years old.......Oh what a beautiful life it would be! If the country ever told me I had to leave the country I would just ignore them just like president Obama's aunt has done after being told a 3rd time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead: :banghead:

My gripe this morning is about people who litter!  Drives me nuts!  On my way in to work this morning, I followed a guy who ended up throwing his cigarette out the window -- that's littering, plain and simple.  Every spring, my husband and I take our kids a couple miles up and down our road and pick up the trash that everyone throws out, including couches, scrap metal, mailboxes, what-have-you!  Tires -- we "Get" to drag the mosquito-infested things up out of the ditch and load them onto OUR trailer and haul them to recycling.  A week later there was "new" garbage being tossed into that same ditch -- I don't understand why people can't just take care of their our garbage!!
Whew -- I think I'm done now!!

My Gripe For The Day!

Well, the weather man has let me down again. As usual my town was forecasted to have heavy rain with thunder storms for 3 days in a row this last week. That was just what I wanted to hear so I could mop up on the night crawlers. I fixed up multiple crawler condos in advance so as to be ready for the new tenants'. Three weeks ago I gathered up 300 crawlers, but the first season heavy rains only provide med size crawlers.

The jumbos have fattened up by now and are just waiting to be gathered up with the arrival of some heavy duty storms. Anyhow, as fate would have it the multiple storms were heading in my direction. As soon as it looked like we were just about to get clobbered it seemed like Moses held out his staff and spread the blackened skies over my area. This remarkable phenomenon repeated it's self for three days straight.

Thus, there I sit waiting for the next go around having gathered zero crawlers with three beautiful empty crawler condos waiting for the next set of storms forecasted for the end of this week. I sure hope Moses won't be in the area this time.

Anyhow that's my gripe and thanks for listening.

Everyone is upset about the gas prices. :taz:  Some things that still amaze me are that when the speed limit is 55 mph folks still go about 60 mph. That's just our nature,OK. However you best stay in the right lane at 60 mph. In my area 70% of the drivers are going 65 to 70 and will ride your :moon:  if your not going 10 to 15 mph over the limit.

The same people that are bitchin about the gas prices are running 70 mph and over. Wouldn't one figure they could just leave home a tad earlier and save on gas mileage?

Another pet peeve is the stations with the highest prices still attract customers when the area competition is much lower. I don't get it?

I've got a friend that delivers gas and he say's he delivers the same exact gas to lots of various brand stations.

Anyone with a gripe, post it here. I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, but I'll betcha this thread should be a busy one.

I hear ya! My Rover gets around 11/gal in the city in the winter.....I have to run premium in it too. It's KILLING ME!! I love the rig but can't really afford to use it as a daily driver. It is the best off-road vehicle I've ever owned. I'm trying to convince the wife to buy a rocket to go to work and such but she's not buying in so far. I'd like to keep the Rover as a weekend warrior for hunting/fishing/family vacay, etc. We'll see what happens.....I think we're being rooked anyways, too bad we are all slaves to oil barrens, an unsettling reality of modern times.

I had this email sent to me and not sure if it would work or not, but it said something to the effect that Exxon and Mobile are the world largest suppliers.  If everyone stopped buying gas from the stations they supply it would reduce the price.  It also said don't buy gas from them until the price hits $2 a gal.  I usually buy gas from Sinclair at least then I know it's not coming from the middle east and the people who hate us.  But I'm not an expert but it makes sense in the laws of supply and demand.  But I'm also guessing without those companies their wouldn't be enough supply so it's probably just one of those BS emails.  But I still try and not buy oil from the middle east if I can help it.

Stations in Minnesota can't lower their prices just because people aren't buying their gas. Minnesota has a minimum gas price law that says all stations must charge at least 8 cents per gallon more than the wholesale price of a gallon of gas. This keeps large chains like Walmart from dropping their price low enough to drive the independent franchise guy out of business.

Yeah, as much as we complain, there isnt anything we can do about gas prices.  Just like groceries and anything else everyone uses.
I hate paying $3.50 for a gallon of gas, but if you think about it (glass half full).  For those who have a fuel efficient vehicle, you pay $3.50 to go 30 miles isnt such a bad deal.....   IDK, thats kinda how I see it, but I am lucky to get 20MPG in my SUV.

No  :censored:  I think the same way.  I got more out of a gallon of gas, that I do a gallon of milk, and they are the same prices.
But yeah - 'exploration'  :bs:  I suppose alot of it is Govt regulation of where they can and cannot explore and drill or mine or whatever else they do.   :coffee:

Here's my gripe for the day

After a slow hot summer with the guiding business the phone starts jumping off the hook with the great Fall weather. I manged to book some nice trips almost daily and things were looking up. Monday I took out some repeat clients and mid morning my motor wouldn't start. We could smell something like burning wire. I figured I'd make it back to the dock with the electric but, that was dead to. We called the water saftey patroll for a tow and they were done for the season :taz:. There were no boats in sight to tow us :banghead:

Another fisherman came along after about a half hour and towed us back to the dock. Now the next problem was that the power tilt and trim was dead. Therefore I can't pull the boat up the ramp without tearing up the prop and lower unit. I called a marine dealer that's about 20 miles down the road and he sent a guy down to help out. He got the motor to tilt up after replacing a burnt fuse. The motor its self has a mess of burnt wires and a bad voltage regulator. This is the damage seen so far. After they dig deeper I'm sure they will find more damage. So, they don't have the parts in stock and you know how that goes some times.

I was so pissed off that I left everything in my boat. I know that's not smart but, I just had it with everything and couldn't wait to get the  :censored: away from the whole mess. They did say they will lock up the boat.

I had to call my booked trips and give them the bad news . I guess that's the end of my season the way it looks. I am sending back all the trip deposits as we speak. The old saying
"A boat is just a hole in the water that you just keep throwing money into" is so true!

When you use your rig as much as most guides do, you better be ready for the heartaches that go with it. Once more the small profits for the year get eaten up. Borgie ( :queen: ) keeps telling me to throw in the towel on the guide service but, for some reason it gives me a sense of purpose and enjoyment seeing my clients enjoy a day on the water with Lee.

:sorry: But, I just felt I had a gripe coming today :taz: and I had to cut loose.

Lee

:sorry:  for your troubles.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I had the same thing happen three years ago.  New voltage regulator, starter, alternator and the boat still will not start. It has spent more time in the shop than on the water.  I pick it up they say its ready to go.  NOT!!! It is dead in the water and it looks like I may have to tow it to get is out in two weeks.  I had a long weekend planned last weekend with a trip up to Leech lake.  Instead I screwed around with this tub and still could not get it to start without assistance of a battery charger.  I had the battery tested yesterday.  It's fine.  This boat is about to become an artificial reef. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

DDS and LEE, in a word that sucks. I feel for both of ya. I to have boat problems but on a much smaller scale than both of you but I can still get out and fish. New trailer tires that I bought just two season ago, one tire is bald already. My graph died a few trips out ago, Won't turn off and changes screens when it wants to. My favorite reel is worn out, have to push the thumb bar up after every cast, come home with a sore thumb that takes a day to feel better. To late in the season to buy a new reel and graph and I am just hoping I don't get a flat. I was lucky when my motor went bad, It just flat blew it up. Electrical problems seem to be never ending and these days a lot of the shops just keep throwing parts at the problem hoping they find the right fix.

:banghead:  Hi gripe site fans training-087

Long time no gripes so let me get the ball rolling here. Two weeks ago Borgie and I drove up to Linn Township to purchase my season boat launch pass sticker ($100.00). Then we decided to ride down to the launch area for a pre season peek. Unfortunately we found the road to the launch was blocked off. When we got back home after a 3 hr. round trip I called the township clerks office to find out what was going on at the boat launch area.

Well it seems that the pier is not in yet (it's always in before this time). Also the launch area is being repaved. It will be shut down from May 7th----May 17th if all goes well. Lots of unhappy fisherman to say the least. We had early ice out in southern Wisconsin so that was not the problem. Why couldn't someone have told me this when I was purchasing my $100.00 season boat launch pass.

Gas prices shot up past $4 in the Brainerd lakes area Wednesday, hitting that threshold where many motorists blanch at the sticker shock on the pump.

Gail Weinholzer of AAA said reduced capacity due to closures of two large refineries in Chicago was the main culprit in the price surge.

And surge it did. Gas prices rose by as much as 30
cents Wednesday.

The last time gas prices of $4 were common was in June of 2008, during some of the darkest days of the Great Recession. The average prices during that June five years ago topped out at $3.99.

Weinholzer said the high gas prices could hang around until July.

That’s not likely to be welcome news for anyone with a sizable commute, those who drive for work, or businesses transporting goods or those who may see consumers cut back as they see their gasoline bills rise.

Michael Green of AAA reported Monday the national average gas price for regular unleaded was $3.58, which represented an increase of six cents from the previous week. It represented the largest weekly increase since February.

“Gas prices at this time last year were falling consistently and would eventually decline 82 out of 87 days for a total of 61 cents from April 6 to July 2,” Green wrote in the AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. “By comparison, the national average this year has increased for eight straight days to the highest price in more than a month.”

Prices around the Brainerd and Baxter area ranged from $3.79 to $4.19 Wednesday.

Monday AAA reported the top 10 most expensive state averages for gasoline. The list started with Hawaii at $4.35, California and Alaska at $4.04. Minnesota was ranked seventh with a price of $3.84. North Dakota was ranked ninth at $3.78.

The top 10 list included perhaps expected states of Hawaii and Alaska, along with the West Coast, besides Minnesota and North Dakota, the other states were Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.

On Monday the national average was 21 cents below the then peak 2013 price of $3.79 on Feb. 27.

In 2011, AAA reported the national average for regular unleaded gasoline peaked at $3.98 on May 5. In 2012, the price peaked at $3.94 on April 5 and 6.

“While higher crude oil prices have put upward pressure on retail gasoline prices across the country, it has been tight supplies and refinery maintenance — both planned and unplanned — in Midcontinent and West Coast that has squeezed prices substantially higher for drivers in those regions,” Green stated.

Its amazing how E-85 changes throughout the state, outside of the city its still cheap and makes sense, but here in the city, E-85 is only about 30-40cents cheaper than Regular Unleaded.  At the station down the street E-85 is still 3.89.....

I guess Ethanol is cheaper where the corn is actually growing....

After preparing a large endless feast of assorted Superbowl goodies, including a variety of adult beverages it was now time. Mother nature had also decided it was also time! The phone started to jump off the hook prior to kickoff with individuals complaining about the blizzard warnings and warnings to stay off the roads.

Well, so much for the company that we expected. We figured it was to be expected since the warnings were coming in left and right about accidents and pile-ups. We wound up with 19.5 inches of the white stuff.

All was not lost since we still got to see 1/2 of a great football game. Yes I did say 1/2. As soon as half time ended Comcast went on the fritz in our whole area and we had no TV. They did manage to get it back up and running 30 minutes after the game ended.

Hey! Here's a novel Idea! Anyone with a gripe, post it here. I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, but I'll betcha this thread should be a busy one.

This can be about any topic.... outdoors, indoors, on the road, pet peeves, neighbors, mother-in-law....just use your imagination.

Disgusting isn't It ?

Welcome to the Clintons' $11 Million Dollar

Mansion in New York state

.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator now comes under this fancy "congressional retirement staffing plan" which means that if she never gets re-elected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies.
If Bill out-lives her, he then inherits HER salary until he dies.  He is already getting his Presidential salary ($20,000 a month) until he dies.  If Hillary out-lives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies,  Guess who pays for that?  WE DO!

Clinton 's 20 Acre - $11 million mansion is common knowledge.  For her to establish NY residency, they purchased this mansion in upscale Chappaqua,New York....makes sense.  They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life.  Still makes sense.

Here is where it becomes interesting.  Their mortgage payments are around $10,000/month.  But an extra residence had to be built by the government on the acreage to house the Secret Service Agents.  Any improvement to the property is owned by the property owners...the Clinton's.  So....the Clinton's charge the federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of the extra residence to house the Secret Service staff which is just about equal to their mortgage payment.  He is the ONLY ex-president to use this loophole, thus earning the name 'Slick Willie'.

This means that we, the taxpayers, pay the Clinton's, salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff and it is all perfectly legal.

AND DON’T FORGET HIS GOVERNOR’S PENSION AND HER SECRETARY OF STATE PENSION…..

When she runs for President, will you vote for her ?

It's hard to tell if Glenn is joking or not as most of his posts are just smack.  But I sure hope he is when he says he'd vote for Hillary.  Republican or Democrat I believe just because of Bengazi alone (not to mention the numerous other things) she is not qualified.  Even if I wore Blue Blinders like Glenn I'd seriously be disgusted having her as my President.

The government thinks it's okay to destroy your engines. :banghead:

Ethanol. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is trying to force gas with 15% ethanol on America.

Called E-15, this fuel is approved for use in less than 10% of the cars and light trucks in the U.S. Most boat and car engines are designed to run safely on 10% ethanol. But not E-15.

The EPA doesn't seem to care that E-15 will destroy your engine and continues to push for more ethanol.

Stop the government's handout to the corn lobby and ethanol producers at your expense.

Lee the first two pics are  true union pictures.  They did in fact have what resembled a fish in them.  The staple item was in the picture.  A measuring device was also in the picture. The fourth one you had coming.  The last one however after 15 minutes on the Gimp would  get an official provable score of 20.25".  As a seasoned veteran to the MNO fishing challenge you wisely took more than one picture assuring your fish a chance of receiving it's best score possible.   I don't like pulling out the gimp but I will when I have to.  Post those picture folks.  The judges will score them if they can.    :happy1:

St. Paul: We expect an orderly State Fair protest by Black Lives Matter

The St. Paul Mayor, police chief and fire chief encouraged people to come to the Minnesota State Fair Saturday despite the protest planned by Black Lives Matter for outside its front gates.

Fair advice: Stay off Snelling during protest march.

Black Lives Matter says State Fair booth isn't theirs.

•U.S. Black Lives Matter movement having growing pains
•Black Lives Matter to protest at Governor's Residence
Aug 31:
•Black Lives Matter chant threatening to officers, police say

•St. Paul Whole Foods scene of protest over business practices
Aug 29:
•Hundreds rally in Black Lives Matter protest at State Fair
Aug 27:
•Black Lives Matter: Fair booth isn't theirs; Mark Dayton: Protest inappropriate
Aug 25:
•As Black Lives Matter plans State Fair protest, police union pushes back

Indians protesting No netting.

school hunger strike protests because a certain school is being replaced.

protests over a law breaker that fought the police and got shot.

Crowds boo when speaker says "all lives matter".

I could go on and on and on! but you get the general idea.

:taz: Long time no gripe :taz:

 :reporter; .....
OK! so here it is!  Did you ever get so sick of seeing the same one TV commercial repeated over and over so that you have to change the channel. If you didn't change the channel you may have to :puke:    . Well here's mine and Borgies gripe. She along with many others got sucked into purchasing the infima's  "My Pillow". As I expected it was just what as I expected "crap!". Borgie sent it back and got a refund from QVC (the TV home shopping network). That was when they first came out on the market some time back. Then they started to advertize buy one and get one free. We figured that so many were sent back that they had to get rid of all the returned ones.

  ..
So, to cut the story short, today I found that they have now gotten themselves in some trouble. Borgie and I are now rejoicing  and cheering to hear the good news. :cheerleader:

View the story and see for yourself :doah:

Your 'Z's Might be 'A+' But MyPillow Just Got Rated an 'F'

© The Better Business Bureau revoked its accreditation for MyPillow. MyPillow's BBB accreditation
The BBB said it had received 232 complaints about the company, a "substantial number" of which were about the BOGO offer confusion.

The BBB noted other issues such as "As Seen on TV" claims on the boxes that weren't actually seen on TV and a "full warranty" that wasn't actually "full."

In a statement to KARE, MyPillow company CEO Mike Lindell said "we run sales and specials for our customers, so that we can give as many people as possible the chance to have a great night's sleep." He said he was "terribly disappointed by the BBB's decision."

The company reportedly said it couldn't stop the BOGO offer for now but would look into doing it later in 2017.

In November the company settled for $1 million a false advertising lawsuit with several California counties over its health claims. Earlier last year a class action suit was proposed against the company over allegedly misleading advertising claims.

We have several of these pillows, and we like them!

The "F" rating was because of the way they handle their "promo code" allegedly you can't keep running a promo if you are already established.  :doah:

Not because of their product......

Yes, I see that as well.  My neighbor across the street is a officer in the military and his flag and mine are up all the time.  I live in 2 1/2 acre min. lots and I can say I have never seen a flag from anyone regardless of holiday's and any day.

My gripe lately has been almost road rage  :angry2:walking down the grocery lanes or other places I shop at.  The cart is blocking half the isle and the person blocks the rest of it.  Here I stand waiting to get by and some see it and move.  But others know I am there and do nothing until they get what they want.

I'm probably the calmest guy out there but I have been having a little fun with it rather than get mad.  I get to the offending party and wait a few seconds.  If they do not know I'm there I just turn around and go to the next isle and return later.  But to those who see me and do not move I just go forward and bump into their cart and say Oops.  Then they move their cart.  Not the biggest thing in the world but having been in retail for years I've seen it all.  good luck.

 :tut: Medicare Rip Offs' :angry2:

 :coffee: ......
So when yer on Medicare yer entitled one free pair of approved shoes each year. This is if you have foot problems and approved by a physician (ie diabetes or foot DR.)

Also after getting approved and measured by a special person dat does dis stuff.  It took over 3 months for da shoes ta be ready. (that was after Borgie kept calling different places to follow up on da delay. Were talkin gym shoes here.

We keep receiving statements as to the cost from everyone in da chain dat were involved.

The bottom line total came up to just over $2,000 :doah: for a pair of firkin gym shoes wit a Velcro strap.

Da cost to us was nothing!

I was considering getting myself a free pair since I also have diabetes. However after seeing what a rip off this is to the government I couldn't
justify such a rip off! :angry2:

I think this stay-at-home is gettin' to everyone. Mentioned in an Email to my buddy that moved to Mpls last Fall, that I needed to run to the store for some food items, and then was gonna pop into Menardo's quick. This is the Email he sent me back:

Best to stay off the streets and out of the stores. Everyone. Even discounting the chance of acquiring the virus or passing it to others, some out-of-the-blue accident could become an emergency that just adds more strain on the medical system.

He hasn't left his little condo in 2 weeks. Period. He eats nothing but microwave TV dinners. (He says "If I can't 'wave it, I ain't eating it") No fruit, veggies, bread, etc. No fresh stuff, period. Said he's been "vegging out" watching movies all afternoon and nite. His place is surrounded by a nice park, he won't go out.  I fear they're gonna find him in a couple months...or he's gonna crack like a coconut.

We are very careful but not as bad as your buddy.  I am watching a cooking show and they are stuffing chicken breasts.  I would love to make that for supper but I don't want to go to the grocery store until I have to.

I did just install Malwarebytes on my lap top.  Had it on my PC.  Then I installed AVG that Delman suggested.   :happy1: :happy1:  Thanks Del.

Back ta da shoes fur a brief second.........

So if ya want ta take a look at da breakdown On dis let's take a look..... First ya got Da foot doctor, Next is da diabetes doctor, Den da guy at a-nudder location da takes a cast of yer feet.

Next is da shoe manufacturer. Den da shoes get shipped ta a place in Chicago. Den from dare to a place closer ta my area. Next we have ta go ta pick um up. At dat place we have a so called specialist dat tells how ta break in da shoes. Fur example wear dem briefly, den a bit more often and so on.....
Also gives us insert pads fur da shoe (not orthotics).

And dis is how everyone gets a slice of da pie! :angry2:

I am in no way try-in ta justify da bottom line total costs! :doah:

Went to the store today.  They were still out of TP.  You have to go early to get any.  Each store only gets so much.  I seen that they had rice again and more pasta.  Plenty of meat items and produce.  Canned soups like Cambell's cream of and the other small cans in that brand is still in short supply.  But If you like pre made soups like progresso flavors they had them.  Things are looking up as far as supplys in the grocery stores [ the Cubs  in my area anyway].  good luck.

When I zipped into ALDI's today, the girl had just finished putting out an entire pallet or more of TP...three different kinds. Was stacked as high as my head. Store was stocked real well....except for dairy was wiped out. No eggs, very little milk. First I've seen that at ALDI'S. But, that's what Kwik-Trips for.

Guy forgot to ring up my loaf of bread; after I paid, said "here, have a free loaf"...I refused, and gave him a buck. "But it's only 79 cents, says the guy,"  "Give it to someone that needs it!" says I.
So, I went home without my bread...and my buck. Pay it forward.  ;)

Nope.  Medicare has defined what it will pay, like for my cpap.  Just got the explanation of benefits.   Provider billed $175.   Medicare allowed like $36.

The prob is Malewarebytes sometimes....but AVG has had issues with uninstall (Not pickin on Delwin either) Their new updated version fights everything. I always ran MBytes and Kaspersky with no probs. Well, when I renewed my yearly subscrip to Kaspersky, ya haveta download the improved version. (But ya don't KNOW it's been "improved") NOTHING worked....not even my Email. My whole 'puter was wonky. (I run a dual Hard drive i6  Dell Inspiron 17")
It was such a mess, I couldn't uninstall or even select a backdated restore point. Had to take it in to the 'puter shop my buddy owns. Even he had a heck of  a time (Took him a whole day) to figger out they were fighting each other. Ended up dumping Mwarebytes completely and reinstalling Kpsky. I also daily run CC cleaner and registry cleaner and do a disc cleanup twice a week or so. Another tip: Same prob will be encountered with McAffee, I won't even go THERE. I like Kpersky, as he recommends it, and so does PC mag as one of the #1 virus suites.
But, try this AVG uninstall tool, barry, and remember to reboot and go back and remove any "traces" when yer done. They will show up on task bar processes/installs.

Try with AVG Clear tool ( https://www.avg.com/en-us/avg-remover ) to remove it completely. AVG remover will uninstall old version & PC Tuneup only.

1.Open tool
2.User Account control - click "Yes"
3.Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compatibility)
4.Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
5.Click "Uninstall"
6.Click "Restart Now".

Run AVG Remover http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework).

Ok the wife uninstalled the Malwarebytes first.  Have liked that in the past.  Then she was able to uninstall the AWG  It did say it didn't work well with others when I installed it.  Things are much faster and back to normal now.  May just reinstall one of them now.  Thanks all.

I see guys from out of town with boats fueling up in town.  Aholes.  I went to  Vidas landing and see someone moved the barricades and launched a boat or else carried it 50 yards.  The Kooch Sheriff was there and Kooch County Hwy dept.  They were using their backhoe to pile up more ice and snow to dissuade idjuts from coming here.

You’re right about the audio books. I drive a lot on some fairly long trips, and listening to talk radio or the same music over and over gets old. It’s really easy to download the audio books and there are a lot of good ones.

Why can't they just admit that they screwed it up!
Sunday noon I got an email from Menards indicating that my "special" order railings have been received in "full" at the store.  I went there Monday morning to pick it up.  The order was packaged on a pallet and a quick count indicated it had 19 posts instead of the 20 on my order.

(#1 - Deflection, "not my problem")
Understandably the guy helping load the parts had no explanation why the count was off.

(#2 -Put the blame on me).
I went back to the the pickup desk and the girl looked it up and said I only ordered 19 and proceeded to print out the order to prove it. I had my copy from when I order it and it had 20 on it.  She had no explanation how or why they were different.

(#3 - Cause confusing by adding another transaction and saying the I did it to myself).
I then went to the department Manager who looked it up and said that Sunday evening one post was returned and credit was applied to my form of payment.

(#4 - Back track and change story).  After telling the mgr that IF I picked up ONE post, why would anyone do this, and then returned it, wouldn't there be some record of me picking it up.

(#5 - When caught in a lie, change story again). After being unable to show me documentation of this phantom transaction, the story changed to it was damaged so another one was order to replace it.  I then said, let me see the damaged one as maybe I could use it in someplace out of the way.  After searching, calling he said there wasn't a damaged one.

(#6 - When caught in a second lie, change to something I can't dispute like maybe come clean).  Now the story changed to having only received 19 from the shipper who said they brought all 20.  He said not to worry because the now admitted missing post has been back ordered and is scheduled to be here on August 2th.

(#7 - Offer help).  The Mgr did check and found a post in another store.  However, I didn't feel like making a 100 mile round trip for one post.

I shouldn't be this hard.   :angry2:

How close is the nearest L & M Supply, LPS? We never have those issues at the 1 in GR. Everyone is always very helpful & if the person your talkin to doesn't know the answer they'll go get the person who does. Another reason why we rarely go to town without stopping there besides them having everything or are able to get it for you. Most everything is fairly priced too. :happy1:

meh. figured i'd resurrect this one!!!!!!!  :rotflmao: :rotflmao: so went down to the grocery store, brought the plastic bags down for recycling.     no bin???/ i thought what the hell. asked and the guy says they dont do that no more. ran into an older feller with a big kohls bag full of them bags and told him not to bother, he looked as baffled as i was!!!! :doofus:

got home asked the wife if she seen a recycle bin at cashwise when she was there........she didnt notice one and seen another shopper look also. so......they went into the recycling bin with all the rest of the plastics, ef them.

cant believe as hard as they push them plastic bags vs the paper bags there is no source for recycling. stupid if ya ask me. yea gotta almost slap them upside head to get them to use/bag your stuff in paper. just gonna be more in the garbage into landfills......then more whining about that.   :doah: :pouty:

Been awhile for those bins here momma tells me. We didn't use many anyhow,  the little we got they got used in bathroom garbage cans etc etc. Here they want em in the garbage cans and not recycling. We end up reusing the paper bags for recycling,  dog poo, and my lunch bags so they get used.

Same here, but we don't change out the plastic bags every week in the small wastebasket. Use the brown paper bags for the main wastebasket. When I go to the store I make them put the stuff in paper.

I'm pretty hard core recycling. So you say they'd just as soon put the plastic bags in the garbage, not recycling  I can do that too

Ya I hear those little bags jam up the sorting machines at the recycling plant, and also harms the equipment so they just chuck em. I say quit producing them. When we go to Wallyworld we usually bring our own bags, just doing our part.

The problem with most grades if plastics is poor markets for them. 2019 was a tough year for all recyclable commodities snd 2020 was a complete disaster. The cost to collect , sort, and bale has to be covered by the selling price and that was not happening. Single stream recycling greatly increased the cost to sort things into the individual components. Bobber’s right about plastic film like bags—they tangle around shafts and plug screens used in the sorting process, causing downtime.
The reason that stores push plastic is based on economics. Plastic bags are cheaper than paper sacks and lighter weight. Inbound freight costs are less and they also take up a lot less room to store before they are used.
The increase in oil prices may stimulate plastic recycling markets, since  virgin plastics are manufactured from petroleum. Don’t see that happening in a big way, though, in the near future.

We got some collapsible bags at menards and never looked back. I take them grocery shopping, fleetfarm, wally world and menards.

When done, collapse them down for the next trip. They fold flat and get stored in the back seat of the truck or car.  :happy1:

I generally agree with everything you said, except for the economics of the plastic vs paper. I do agree plastic may be cheaper but I ain't buying the fact grocery stores don't take onto account in there pricing of there products the price of paper bags

I don't ever recall grocery prices going down when the plastic bag was introduced

I used to be in the business.  As mentioned they are a pain in the butt to try and process.  The only time it is even an issue is if your area burns garbage.  Then they try to keep plastic out of it.  For the rest of us who's garbage goes to a landfill it is a completely different issue.  So crumple up a paper bag and then crumple up a plastic bag.  Which one is smaller.  No contest, it is the plastic.  It takes up much less room in the landfill.  Things do decompose in landfills but not like people think.  That paper bag will look just like it is in 50 years. Kitchen waste does degrade to an extent and creates the methane that burns off landfills.  In my mind someone in an office in California created the guilt trip with plastic bags to justify their job.  It does have some merit but not that big save the world thing like some think.

Groceries are a high volume, low margin business. Like most businesses, they are not going to pass cost savings on indirect costs through to customers. I don’t think I heard of any prices dropping for consumers after the Trump tax cuts were put in place.
As for the retailers that still take plastic bags being returned—that’s more of a feel good thing done for their customers and a public image thing for them, hopefully making them look “green”.  The cost to take trash to the landfill is volume based. The bags tossed into the trash compactor don’t take up a lot of room, so there is not anything in the way of additional trips, and the light weight of the bags does not significantly increase the per ton cost of disposal.

Mercedes-Benz has a new plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama that's built on a landfill & they developed a system for capturing the methane gas coming from it. They're using it to at least partially power the plant.

Why are people such pigs?  This morning the McD's parking lot was a mess and every morning at the landing, we have to do a clean up.  Yesterday there were 5 huge bags of garbage that some good souls collected along the river.  This is a weekly event.
And I can't believe that when there is a recycling bin and a trash bin side by side how many get confused as to which one to use.
And here is a picture of what was collected along the Mississippi River near South St. Paul by someone.  This is the 3rd collection this summer.

I agree GT, some people are outright pigs, slobs and don't seem to give a crap. We see it up north alot. We can go for 4 wheeler rides and easily pick up a bag of trash, and that's in the woods or even boat landings.

We usually do and when I head home 1/2 the garbage I bring home is someone else's

Agreed G.T. just think of all the crap we don't see dumped in the river...this summer's low water level will highlight what lies beneath, outof sight out of mind type thing, working in the hood of st paul for years, residents would just leave they're garbage, furniture, old broken bikes etc out in the ally for the city to carry off,sad state of affairs.

When I lived in Stillwater I got my first yellow lab puppy.  In the fall I would take him for a walk at the Boom Site north of town along the river.  Not many people there at that time of year.  I brought a garbage bag with me every time.  They sign said no dogs but since hardly anyone was there I still brought him and picked up garbage.  I got garbage every time too.

If a person hits any body of water in Minnesota and can't find trash they aren't looking very hard.

As sad as it is, littering is NOTHING compared to the 60's and mid 70's. Back then it was a absolute embarrassment.

The Lake Assoc. has adopted 3 mile of roads on both ends of the lake. They pick up both sections twice a year, Spring / Fall, & I volunteered a couple years. Now I just cruise the part by our place on the wheeler with my special tool while putting my findings in the wire basket mounted to the front of wheeler myself a few times a season. The section where they turn to go over to the NW Bowstring PA is usually really bad, especially in the Spring.  :pouty:
