Woman rescued after falling out of moving boat :doah:

A 62-year-old woman was rescued Saturday after falling overboard on Serpent Lake in Crosby, the Crow Wing Sheriff's Office reported.

 :police:
Deputies were called at 11:30 a.m. of someone hollering for help and an unoccupied boat doing circles on Serpent Lake in Crosby. It was discovered that Laurie Jenniges of Long Lake had been operating the boat and had fallen overboard. Jenniges was not wearing a life jacket at the time. A passing boater had rescued Jenniges prior to officers' arrival and was brought to the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby to be checked out.

Deputies were able to disable the running boat by throwing ropes into the propeller causing the motor to quit. :happy1:

Sheriff Todd Dahl reminds all boaters to wear their life jackets while operating any watercraft.

 :coffee: ..
"This individual is very lucky as the water temperatures are still very cold and hypothermia sets in quickly," Dahl said in a news release. "There is also the risk of being run over by the boat as it out of control in what is known as 'The Circle of Death.'

"Thankfully with the fishing opener, there were lots of boaters on the water to help her out and bring her to safety." :bonk:

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's water patrol was assisted by the Crosby Police Department and the Minnesota DNR.
