Today,sure ain't like the old days when olympians were proud of our country and flag,politics has ruined many if not all sports for alot of Americans today,personally I find the womens soccer team disgraceful,why would we send these ungrateful children to these games only to disrespect our country on world stage?it's sad.

We're discussing Olympians and protests/displays of inappropriate or perceived beliefs as related to the country from which that subject may be a citizen of at the moment, and their alleged beliefs of what they consider appropriate to display. World champion football teams aren't on the agenda at the moment, and the "too" in yer statement implies there are other "has beens" that you are thinking of. the few athletes that decided to use the olympics as their political plateform to disrespect our country,flag and anthem ruined these 2021 games for a alot of folks including respectful and greateful to live in our great country team mates.no games at my ranch,not even high lights.

Simone did qualify for every medal event despite not being at her best. I hate it when sports media feels compelled to crown athletes THE Greatest Of All Time while they are still competing. Its stupid and irrelevant, but storylines like that sell advertising. I guess it is supposed to make us feel better about ourselves for watching - that we shouldn't miss out on something important.
Ledecky's loss to Aussie, Ariarne Titmus, was not an upset. Titmus made it her mission to beat Ledecky in this event and she was faster than Ledecky in races all year leading up to the Olympics. The fact that Ledecky made it so close was a testament to the drive and determination of both women.
This is what Olympic sport is all about - not what you get from Men's USA Basketball. Nothing but excuses from those guys.

I've been very fortunate and haven't seen a minute of it. Doesn't sound like I'm missing out on much.
Besides all the political crap I started losing interest when they moved the schedule around. Now it seems either the summer or winter games are on all the time.
I like the hockey & skiing stuff in the winter games not much of anything in the summer games.

I like rooting for the underdog and I am a sucker for a good story when I hear one. :cry:
There have been lots of good rivalries played out in the pool events and good sportsmanship abounds. :happy1:
I kinda like watching a couple of water polo or beach volleyball :sleazy: matches every few years.
NBC doesn't seem to be showing many medal ceremonies. Good call. That way they can't be ripped either for showing or not showing the agitators who use the medal podium for their own activism. (However, the games ain't over yet. :popcorn:)

Kaepernick is a symptom, or even a catalyst, of this "America is inherently racist and wrong" movement, but he is not the cause.

We had a school district meeting last week concerning just that issue, and it got so far out of hand and raucous they had to end it. Had the cops standing by for last nite's district school meeting. Not as bad, but LOTS of folk were really raising cain about that, and tying in their belief they (school district) promotes the BLM scenario along with it, inciting students. Rochester school district denies that they are teaching CRT...but things are really boiling down here over it.
The good ol' news media are now saying the return to school this Fall is going to be a really tense time. Nothin' like pokin' the bear a bit more. Sure glad I'm not in school anymore, or a teacher, they're really under the gun. :rolleyes:

Kaepernick is the one that really started it in the sports I think. Yes the schools have been indoctrinating kids in school for a long time for sure. Especially in the colleges. It affects lots of families - causing splits and rifts - I've seen lots of cases like this. It is at the heart of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Dad, I can't bring the grandkids over if you wear that red MAGA had - cause the grandkids melt down.

Worse than sad, its tearing the country apart, and they can't see it for what it is.

Lots of odd things this Olympics. I wish I could have seen it when the German coach got the boot for punching a horse. Or, the guy who got disqualified for karate kicking too hard. Of course we all got to see a gymnast decide to watch and cheer instead of compete.
