well they called and said the crank shaft and main bear are shot. they put in a claim and polaris will pay for all the parts and the dealer and i are splitting the labor. i called to today and asked what caused the failure. bad bearing. i said nuthing todo with oil pressure? nope oils fine. clearly insistant on the bad bearing. i voiced my concern about the oil pump. but he totaly was convienced that he has to trust his mechanics. ect ect blah blah. 30 day warrenty on installed parts.  so we'll see. im eased that polaris is doing that much, but dont want to go thru it again.

Figgered that.....Well, like my Dad used to say, "that's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick".  Good luck on the rebuild....but WHAT caused the bad bearing?! HAS to be more than a bad bearing in there.....Hmmm....

Feel for ya Boar. Went thru something similar with a early- mid 90's Evinrude the folks bought new.The company tried to give us the run around but I have a buddy who is a great mechanic( sleds, outboards, & bikes mostly) & he gave us the low down. It took some major haggling with the company but they finally came around. The local guy who did the work was top notch & wouldn't help the company cover it up. Turns out it was a major design flaw & all of those motors, 93-95(?) 3 cylinder OMC with the VRO oil pump, were  junk. Think we had to pay all the labor though, only the lower unit was left original
