Title: Ely Area Ice Conditions as of February 5th
Post by: greatoutdoors on February 02/06/11, 09:36:59 PM
The Ely area ice report is worse than last week when the 2-4 inches of snow we expected turned into 12 inches, plus another 2 inches last Friday morning.
Again travel will be limited to snowmobiles or ATV's with tracks.  Every lake is reported to have slush, with no exceptions.
The only guaranteed road access for Lake Trout fishing is at Smitty's on Snowbank.  They have three houses available to rent, and appreciate a donation if you use their plowed road to access the lake and fish on your own.
The short plowed road on Burntside off the Passi road landing became impassable after the 12 inch snowfall.
Feel free to call the shop from about 9-2 daily for ice reports.
