Title: Great ice on Minnewaska! Walleyes Hot!
Post by: LandDr on December 12/05/08, 09:09:18 AM
Fish On Bait and Sport
Glenwood, MN
Lake Minnewaska

A good 6 inches plus on Minnewaska!...Many houses are now out on Minnewaska and this weekend should be REALLY busy with the additional ice and good ice!  With the temps dipping into the teens and daily highs below 30, I expect even more good ice being made and a lot of more fishing.  Glenwood Beach, Ballroom, Bottle Bay and Priests Point are some of the more popular spots right now with shiners and fatheads being the bait of choice.  This is always a great time of year to really get into the walleyes with the first ice.  One fella reported that he has already caught 42 walleyes!  Crops are pretty much out now and with that pheasants will be easier to locate.  Focus on the crop and habitat edges and I am sure that you will have a chance at your limit.  Pope County is one of the best counties for public land as well so there are many places to hunt.  We have some discount prices on shells if you are still in need of ammo.  Muzzleloader season is in full swing and a lot of interest in that.  PLM and QDMA have teamed up with a Big Buck Contest at Fish On Bait and Sport...stop in if you want to enter.  Grand prize will be by drawing for a CVA Optima Muzzleloader with the biggest buck receiving a Moultrie digital camera...so everyone has a chance to win.  We will have ample supply of fatheads and shiners as well as the regular items.  Starting this year, Fish On will also be providing fish house rental and be assured that houses will be placed on the hot spots!

Fish On!!

We will have day houses as well as sleepers.  One sleeper is just being finished and will be out on the lake in the near future.  Very nice house!

Give me an email at info@HabitatNOW.com and I will send some into out to you when we have them out and ready.

Fish On Bait & Sport

Report yesterday was 8 to 8.5 inches of great ice.  As cold as it was last night, I would guess that it is 9 inches or better today.

Couple of crazy fools on the ice last night "driving" around.  Could have been some beverages involved.  Like my history teacher Mr. Hill would say..."Drive fast, die young and make a good looking corps!"

However, I expect that there will be some small trucks and cars out there tomorrow as people test their luck.

Big houses were moved out yesterday...8x16s and such pulled by ATVs.

Been pretty busy at the store today and I expect tomorrow to be even busier with the calmer winds and less windchill.

Kyle,
Fish On...and on...and on...and on!

The eyes have been biting. Havn't been out myself but seen what my brother brought in. Only released a couple cigars, most were 17". He is out again tonight but didn't have anything as of 4:00pm.

All I know was it was in front of the school by some weed bed. Knowing my brother he was prolly useing some off the wall stuff that wouldn't be considered tackle to begin with.
