I was thinking last week that I was done icefishing for the year, but with this weather the ice should hold up for awhile. I haven't been out since all this snow, but the ice looks a bit funny on the lakes I drove by.
Anyone been out?

When we were u pat woods the ice ranged from 25-32" of ice the auger barely made it down some stops without the extenstion. But that is also a long trip to make but if u have the time and money i would certainly make it.

Crappies and sunnies are going pretty good in and around the Chisago chain. Can barely wait for ice-out crappie fishing...too fun.

It looks like the temps are going to be in the 50s next week. I don't know how much longer the ice is going to hold on in the metro. I hate to say this but I packed up my icefishing gear and stored it away. I am now getting ready to hit the river during the transition. I just hope I can get away from work. My last icefishing trip was up to LOW. This was a pretty good trip. I caught my biggest walleye ever, 26 1/2 ". That was a blast. Good luck to those still heading out and be safe.

12-18 inches on most of the southern metro lakes. Open water on the shore of some also. DO NOT PUT AWAY YOUR ICE FISHING GEAR YET!! ;D There wil be another couple few weeks of ice left. Actually i feel it is some of the best fishing of the ice season. In some of the south and west metro lakes the bite has been pretty hot for the last week or two.

Good luck out there SSN. It was a tough call to put everthing away :'( I will be counting down the days for next winter. I agree with you, late ice is a great time to fish. Have you hit ML lately for some jumbo perchin' ?
