We got lucky and avoided any snow both Tuesdy and today, so ice conditions are the best they've been all year.
There isn't any snow on the ice, so ATV travel is recommended, and snowmobiles if they have bogie wheels, or studs to chip ice and keep the slides lubricated.
I'd be careful with full size pickups because scattered amounts of water and slush that existed a few days ago has frozen, and may have formed some double layers of ice.(take a high lift jack and some 2x6s to help you get back on if you happen to drop a tire, it shouldn't be more than 4-5 inches if at all)
Lake Trout fishing has been good on Burntside, and the stream trout lakes are also producing good numbers of fish.
Jigging is the most productive method, but live minnows or frozen Herring on tip ups will also work. (live minnows cannot legally be used on designated trout lakes, but are totally legal on Burntside and Snowbank)
Keep in mind that both Stream and Lake Trout season is open until the end of the month.
