Title: ELY AREA MID AUGUST REPORT
Post by: greatoutdoors on August 08/15/11, 07:43:12 PM
Fishing has been slow in most of the lakes in the Ely area for the last week.
Snowbank Lake is reporting a few walleye in 30-40 FOW, pike in 18-20 feet, trout in 60+, with small bass being caught in shallower areas.
Shagawa is producing a few decent sized pike in 6-10 FOW on suckers, with walleye and bass fishing almost non existant.
The White Iron chain of lakes reports the best fishing with limits of smaller walleye being taken, bluegills in shallow water, and some pike with spinner baits and spoons.  Minnows have been working well for the walleye.
It appears that most of the fish have been pushed into the depths with the warm temps and low winds during the days
