Water temps are dropping in the Ely area lakes, with surface temps about 58 degrees a few days ago, probably 55 currently.
The thermocline on Burntside Lake (deep, clear) is at 34 FOW, and some fish are being taken in 29-32 feet.
Fishing is very slow on all lakes, with walleye being pushed down to over 40 feet in Snowbank Lake.
Pike are being taken in anywhere from 6-35 feet by trolling.
A warming trend is coming later this week, which will raise surface temps a bit, but the nights will be cool.
Lake are about 18-24 inches lower than spring levels, and don't see any measurable amounts of rain predicted in the near future.
