Title: Ely area lakes starting to lock up
Post by: greatoutdoors on November 11/25/13, 08:50:23 PM
The smaller lakes in the Ely area are getting some fishable ice on them.  A few brave souls should be heading out to fish pike this weekend on Birch Lake near Babbitt which has about 3 inches or more in some areas.
Larger lakes like Shagawa won't be ready for another week or two.  It's the primary walleye lake in the area, so won't be many reports until then.

Let's make a correction!! :oops1:
Last night's cold temp appears to have locked Shagawa Lake up, ice as far as the eye can see. :happy1:  Some may be fishing there as early as this weekend, but waiting for another week will be better! :happy1:
