The stream and lake trout season outside of the BWCA opens this Saturday.
Burntside and Snowbank Lakes have about 14-16 inches in most areas, and no slush reported in the main parts.
There are a few roads plowed on Burntside, and Snowbank has a road plowed from Smitty's but not from the public landing to the best of my knowledge.
However, Mother Nature is going to throw a curve ball the next few days with snow and high, gusting winds. What this will do to the roads and lakes is anyone's guess.
Truck travel was looking good today, but prepare to bring a snowmobile if going out this weekend, just to be sure you can get to your fishing area without any problems.
Some of the smaller stream trout lakes like Tofte are very likely to have quite a bit of slush.
so it won't hurt to wear knee high, waterproof boots.
