The latest snow storm and winds will idle lake trout fishing for two to three weeks unless we get a miracle.
The plowed roads were getting a lot of water and slush all over them on Burntside and Snowbank Lakes before we got this dumped on us.
Ely area received about 12-14 inches of snow, which created 2-3 foot drifts on the lakes.
This is going to make travel next to impossible unless you have a wide track, high HP snowmobile or an ATV with Camoplast Tracks.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to go buy a ranger with tracks to me. :happy1:

The Ranger with tracks goes good through snow and slush, even crummy stuff like this. :happy1:
It's when you step out of it into knee deep, or deeper snow, that the trouble begins. Then there's that 6-12 inches of water and slush below the snow that makes things interesting.
You can auger a hole to fish, but with all the water below the snow, it's like fishing in a toilet that never quits flushing. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
