Time for a daily "grump"column.....what bugs you? The news? People? Daily things? Anything goes...if it bugs ya, post about it! ;)
Mine today: Diversity. I'm all for it, let it happen, but what about when it goes too far with one specific group? Can it? That's the #1 thing in this city...it's non-stop on TV, the radio, the news, the paper...diversity, diversity, diversity. That's all they talk about. It's rammed down yer throat 24/7/. A buddy of mine and his wife that were visiting here from Idaho thought it was totally insane, the lengths they go to here to push it. Rochester, according to reports, has the highest influx of Somalians of any city in Minnesota, beating out Mpls/St. Paul by a wide margin.
They say they aren't getting proper treatment or respect here....latest is they don't understand the voting process, and no one is attempting to speak with them or teach them. Sooo...they had a state legislator come down and hold a special meeting just for them, with interpreters, to help them. Forty people showed up. They scream they aren't included in things in the city. We now have special meetings just for them...they now have special prayer areas at many work places. Mayo has a lot for them...since they are so big on the diversity thing.
On the other side of the coin, I never see any of them volunteering at the Salvation Army, ringing bells, or some of the Homes for Habitat, clothing drives, or other charity functions that I volunteer for. To be involved, don't you need to GET involved? Put forth some effort!! My buddy, that runs the school lunch program, said most get the free or low-cost meals, which they then dump in the trash, eating just the fruit or juice, yet they have to give them a full tray of food. He said it makes him want to tear out his hair.
I feel they are given more opportunities than other groups, and it;s ridiculous the changes we've made to our country to accommodate some of these groups...no national anthem, so as not to offend them; no "Christmas vacation", now it's "Winter holidays", etc. Now they want the school holidays changed here, as it does not coincide with THEIR holidays, and "makes it difficult to keep up in school".....HELLO!!! What country are you living in right now?? YOU chose to come here, right? I'll let you decide if the perks they receive are over the top in comparison to others or not...that's my gripe for the day!

1. I couldn't agree more Rebs. I saw that long post and thought it was too long to read and then I thought what does Grumpy have to say so I read it. You couldn't have said it better. I have nothing against them. I read there are 26 other Muslim countries they could have gone to but they chose here. We have a great country. Maybe they need to hire someone to help them get aquainted with "OUR" customs since they are in"OUR" country. I guess that if I went to another country I would feel that it was "MY" responsibility to learn the proper way to do things and not expect it to be handed out to me. This MN nice and US nice has already bitten us in the ass. Maybe a "NICE" thing back in the 50's and 60's when I feel people took more personal responsibilities for what they did. Now it is expected that the money that comes out of my pocket for taxes should pay their way. AND I don't only mean Somalis. Many of our own are sucking off the system just as bad.

These are elected officials, that are representing our state that get government subsidies to bring these people here.

I will say that our economy is unbelievably better than it was 9 years ago. Gas prices were almost $4 a gallon a few years ago. We are not on a wage freeze like we were 6 years ago where I work. Interest rates for those that are buying a house or car are at record lows. For those with lots of money in savings that means low gains. That is not so good. But it is wonderful compared to the Bush screw the worker years. BUT the lets help everyone era has to be done. By helping everyone who is too lazy to work or new here cuz we brought them here has got to stop. Let's help our own! So how do I vote for that????? Like Bob Shaffer who knows a lot more than any of us said, we have turned into a banana republic third world country with our political candidates.... IT IS EMBARRASSING!!!!

I agree 100%. What Rebs brought up makes me grumpy and it just keeps getting worse. I blame a lot of it on the media for constantly ram it down our throats. And also what LPS said the VIKES, they really made me grumpy Monday night. :puke: :censored:

All the above makes me crabby (except cardboard)..lol. What's been driving me nuts lately is the lazy neighbors. On house behind me has a compost pile ( all grass) as high as the fence and when it's warm out it is putrid. The Family next to me cuts the grass around 3 times a year and picks up the dog s...t almost never. The aroma when the wind is swirling is almost staggering.

Oh and then there's the other neighbor that let's his German Shepherd bark non friggen stop, and the little tipper across the street that goes on and on for hours....I need a place in the country.

I agree with you bobber, lazy ass neighbors. The guy two houses over is a pig, garbage and branches all through the yard, he cuts the grass maybe once a month. He has about 16 oak,locust cherry and apple trees in his yard, I'm 45yrs old and all the trees have been there before me so that tells you how big they are and he never picks up a single leaf. The neighbor next door who is 83yrs old and myself don't have a single tree in our yards but have to spend time and money cleaning his crap up every year. Freaking lazy ass hillbillies. I won't even get started on tree hugging hippie liberals

The 2 houses behind me turned to rentals and all the situations above happened. I put up one of those 6 ft dog eared plank fences, best $1000 bucks I've ever spent. I still have to get up real early a couple times each summer and spray round up about 2-3 feet at the bottom of their side of the fence or the weeds and creeping charlie get over to me.

She does "daycare", ie; watches 2 kids run around while she sits on their crumbling, crap piled deck, stuffs her gaping maw with chips, and watches them. He works a 9-5 desk job, M-F. Told me he doesn't have time to do stuff around the house. I told him that isn't a job, it's a friggin' vacation. They moved in 3 years ago, and now the place is over run with weeds and falling apart, and it was a very nice place...they actually have some huge weeds that are over the top of their deck base!!! Like 3' high! Look like small trees! I asked him three times to trim the foot high grass that's going thru my chain link fence; he just shrugged his shoulders and did nothing. I took the roundup to the fence and his side of the lawn. Took care of that. His leaves are a foot deep out front, they keep blowing in my yard. I got PO'd the other day and blew every leaf in my yard over into his. They're his anyway. Buncha lazy pigs. The drunken idjit with the continually barking dog and drunken domestics next door finally moved in September after six years of neighbors-from-hell crap. Sure is nice to gave some peace and quiet.

I built out in the country for the reasons stated above. I walk out my front step and hang it out to pee whenever I feel like it.

When I was in my 20's, I rented an old farmhouse out in the country. Well water, no garbage, and had to go out to the pump house every day to manually fire up pump to fill oak cistern in the basement. Had to run out when it was full to shut it off....all year long. If ya didn't run the milk house heater on it in winter, ya had no water. But, I could step off my porch, shoot the pheasants, tree rats, turkey, deer......and take a whiz right there, just like the General said. Looking back, that was the best time of my life.

Definitely gunner, people do what they want on the roads, crossing double white lines on the freeway when there's signs all over saying not to.
I hate to go back to the neighborhood but I have a foreign older lady across the street that has her son in his fortys living with her. Everything is done for them, mailman has to run up the house to deliver, garbage man has to pull the cans down and up, a husband and wife show up and do yard work and snow removal, cleaning lady shows up to the laundry and clean. All the while the kid does nothing and I'm probably paying for these services. Last year she wanted me to put her bags of leaves with my yard pick up, I said ya right have your good for nothing kid bring then in, she said that would never happen, your on your own I said.....lazy taking advantage of the system pukes!!!!

Thanks guys. Too much of that going around lately, it seems. I haven't picked on the NL lately, as she just found out her Dad has terminal cancer, and maybe two months at best. She's not doing too well with that. Saw her out raking like crazy the other nite after dark, wondered wth?? Went over to see if things were OK, and she was crying her heart out while raking like mad. I let her be.

Boy to much coffie id think :rotflmao: I just cant stand that everytime i turn around theres cardboard to throw away or recycle, I recycle plastic, and I try to do card board, but theres so dang much of it and it dont crush enough to put in the garbage, and it just so maddening to me, I just recycled a bunch and yeasterday the wife gets in an order of new silverware and it package in 100 fricken boxes arrrrrrrgh

We use a lot of cardboard at the bait store. It catches all the blood from the hanging deer. Easier to clean up then having to mop all the time. :deer:
