No NOT the animal. :pouty: :banghead: :banghead: our illustrious NBA basketball team.
I know there aren't any or many basketball fans here but they have a new head coach. They fired Saunders today. I was wondering when this was going to happen.
-
They have the worst record in the NBA and last nights game was just an example. They got way behind, made a nice comeback, but too little too late. I was wondering. Although, too many injuries don't help. I hope the new guy does better.
-
 Sure didn't help that KAT has been unable to play much the last couple seasons. They must've had this in the works as some assistant from Toronto has already been named as the replacement. Thibodeaux couldn't get out of town fast enough & he left Saunders with a mess, so he didn't get a fair shot IMO. :pouty:
-
These guys seem to play when they want to play - and most of them don't want to play defense.
Did you see where we finally unload Wiggins to the Warriors and suddenly he's playing defense? I reckon if he didn't try hard on that team, he'd be on the bench. But for the Woofies, it doesn't seem to matter.
Wiggins' defensive statistics putting him in elite company (https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warriors/warriors-andrew-wiggins-posting-elite-defensive-stats-season)
Thibodeaux was defense first. He couldn't make them play D. Saunders took a different tack, but the result was the same.
-
Also read that the lead man in the T'wolves front office now was in the Rocket's front office when the new guy that's comin got his start in the league with them. Not much defense played in the whole league IMO & almost all the rule changes in recent years have been put in to help the offense. One reason I don't watch much NBA anymore.

20 Reasons Why the NBA Is the Worst (https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1597577-20-reasons-why-the-nba-is-the-worst)
My faves...
- No Defense
- Coaches Are Glorified Babysitters
- Celebrity Fans
- No Effort
- Flopping
- Players Whining About Fouls
- Traveling Is Now Legal
Other reasons not on their list.
- Players conspiring to build their own "super" teams
- Star players taking nights off just to rest
- Players demanding to be traded
- In 2004, Latrell Sprewell Turned Down A $21.4 Million Contract With The Timberwolves Because It Wasn’t Enough To Feed His Family. He Never Played Again And Went Bankrupt. (https://fadeawayworld.net/2020/09/07/in-2004-latrell-sprewell-turned-down-a-21-4-million-contract-with-the-timberwolves-because-it-wasnt-enough-to-feed-his-family-he-never-played-again-and-went-bankrupt/)

Along with that the mess the NBA's made of the NCAA. The one or two and done's along with the coaches who play that game including but not limited to coach K, Calipari, Kelvin Samson and the list goes on. Bobby Knight for all of his other faults had that one right. They were there to go to school and get an education first.

The Timberwolves have had 14 different coaches and 16 coaching changes in their 31 season existence.
1 Bill Musselman 1989–1991
2 Jimmy Rodgers 1991–1993
3 Sidney Lowe 1993–1994
4 Bill Blair 1994–1995
5 Flip Saunders 1995–2005
6 Kevin McHale 2005
7 Dwane Casey 2005–2007
8 Randy Wittman 2007–2008
— Kevin McHale 2008–2009
9 Kurt Rambis 2009–2011
10 Rick Adelman 2011–2014
- Flip Saunders 2014–2015
11 Sam Mitchell 2015–2016
12 Tom Thibodeau 2016–2019
13 Ryan Saunders 2019–2021
14 Chris Finch 2021—
Good luck, Chris Finch :bonk:

Well, last nights game proved, it isn't the coaches fault, but then I was told, 24 hours is not an indication and he needs time to practice and find out more about his players. The announcers also stated that the T-Wolves have not had a long stretch at home and this effects practice time. The Bucks though couldn't miss either last night and are among the leaders in 3 pt makes.

Why anybody pays any attention to the NBA is beyond me. I wouldn't watch them play if they were playing in my front yard.
Best of luck to the new guy and the next guy and the guy after that...........

I like to watch the home teams. Those are the only games I watch though. I know some that are glued to sports channels all day. Hey, some even watch golf. LOL!!!

Funny thing is... with all the "new" drama - players building their own super teams, trade demands, social media battles, social justice issues, Instagram highlights, etc. - stuff that rubs a lot of old schools fans the wrong way - is just the stuff that energies the new, younger fan base.

Seen on the news last nite the timber puppies and links will have new majority owners in a couple years. Also booted the GM the way it sounds.
Maybe things will start looking up
BUT.... they also said " new arena"" :angry2: as long as it's not taxpayer funded :tut: but we know how that works in the state.
-
Seems to me we've heard both of these stories before...
Regarding the firing of Gersson Rosas, the Timberwolves have a long history of hiring the "wrong" general manager
- Gersson Rosas - toxic work environment
- Tom Thibodeau - traded talent to get Jimmy Butler who didn't want to stay. Didn't get along with the Timberwolves remaining young talent.
- David Kahn - Will forever be remembered for passing on Stephen Curry in the 2009 draft and general incompetency. What qualified him to run and NBA team? Still wondering; prior to that, he was a lawyer and sports writer.
- Kevin McHale - Traded Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics by the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Al Jefferson, and a bunch of no-names. Celtic GM and good friend of Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge, won the title that year. The Timberwolves lost their best player ever.
Regarding the arena...
The best the city could do for the team was re-ferb Target Center, which is still junk. By all accounts, it is one of the oldest, crappiest venues in the NBA.
So after the new ownership regime takes full control, they will threaten to move the team, the People's Republic of Minnesota and the Socialist City-State of Minneapolis will cave and build them a brand new building so they stay and pass the bills on to you and me.

Ah, the NBA, where the inmates run the asylum. So Kyrie Irving the other days lets it be known that just because he makes $40 million a year he shouldn't be expected to play home games. (New York has a vaccination law, no vaccination no work) So he is up to playing road games but I assume he will need "rest" days also.
There is more dope smoked in one day in the NBA then in Jamaica in a month.
A person who lied and cheated the way to the top of his profession (but can't buy a team in that profession) is welcomed with open arms into NBA ownership in Minneapolis.
I have never spent a cent with them, never will, don't watch their games and only follow them in the paper to ridicule them for the punk asses they are.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :laughroll: :laughroll: damn dutchy, tell us how you really feel about the NBA!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

I know, I just hate it the way he sugar coats things... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

2-0 or 100-0 won't change nothin. Has Simmons in Philly decided that he is "mentally" ready yet? Last I saw he was "mentally tired" and couldn't / wouldn't play for Philly. I believe he makes around $35 million per year. People in the state actually believe the Puppies should trade for this slug. :doah:

 so you DO follow the NBA!!!! :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I follow anything (professional) except soccer. I follow basketball but don't care what any teams do. In fact Gophers men will be historically bad this year.
Besides, what else do I have to do?

Soccer!
