The NFL Network is reporting the Vikings will let your Cousin Kirk get to the last year of his contract vs giving him a extension early. A bit of a gamble knowing how Kirk operates.
-
If true, so much for taking the team-friendly, home-town discount. :doah:
-
:rotflmao: Yea I read that. I'll still take Cousin Kirk over that prima Donna Erin

yep. No I in team for him!
Been reading the Vikings brain trust has spent a fair amount of time looking at QB's at the trials.

Kirk will never offer a hometown discount. Nor should he. It's big boy football in a league of billionaires where the players think they deserve theirs also. You either pay him or tank to draft a franchise quarterback cuz you ain't winning in this league without one.
-
I might hear what your saying, but alot of players do it. They probably eventually get cut loose down the road anyway but mostly player decline.
I just read where Chris Jones from KC is looking to help the team and wants to stay there his entire career.
-
Maybe they will trade up in the draft to get a QB. Maybe trade Cook too.

Chris Jones isn't a quarterback, he doesn't have the leverage a franchise quarterback has.

Adofo-Mensah said that the team didn’t want to be throwing darts at the quarterback position and that the team is “always trying to be solutions-oriented and find a way that works for both people” while acknowledging that the two sides may not have the same view of what another contract would look like.
Question is.....Will they move up in the draft and take a QB?

If a modern day, veteran QB REALLY wants to win a Superbowl, then, yes, he SHOULD play at a reduced rate (which is STILL 10's of millions/year) to let the team bring in more talent around him. It is a sign of unselfish leadership.
After you've already made 100's of millions, maximizing your own deal is a sign of selfish greed.
Yes, football is a business, but it is also a passionate team game where sacrificing for each other is still important if you want to win and succeed.
-
that is pretty much why i have the opinion i have........after ALL the money he already got............
also if thats the case WHY all all these teams signing these huge friggin contracts only to want to take some away or extend. i get it but man its crazy!!!!!!!

Brady took a big pay 60-100 million dollar pay cut to help the Patriots get better players. It made the team and him better for it. Kirk doesn't have near the class as Brady has.

You obviously have never been a union guy. The union would hemorrhage if one of their top players ever gave a discount on a major contract. You forget Cousins is a poster child down at the NFLPA union hall. He was the first guy to ever get a guaranteed contract in the NFL.
You can't compare Cousins (or any starting quarterback) for that matter to a working guy. He makes millions because there are millions available to them. Remember...the Wilfs could have built Bank Stadium with their own money but the NFL doesn't do such silly things. The NFL believes the fans should pay a portion of the construction costs and then pay a PSL for their seats on top of that.
No the NFL (Vikings) understands grabbing all the money available at every turn so they don't expect a sweetheart deal from Cousins. Next you will hear the Vikings can't afford Cousins which is a load of BS. If KC can pay Mahomes $3 million per game why would Cousins think he should play for less?

but cousin Kirk's wife probably doesnt make near the money brady"s wife, or should i say ex-wife does!!!!!!!  :rotflmao:
heard it a few times Gisele make more then he does!!!!!
-
Because he isn't as good.
-
dutchy.....LPS was a Union guy. and you have this Union stuff mixed up. its called collective bargaining for a reason.
both sides eventually agree on the terms and conditions of the proposals an both sides agree to these terms. so its not a one sided deal!!!!!!!!! BOTH sides agreed to it.

truthfully.........i really dont give 2 shnitz what happens. i love watching football, especially the Vikings......whatever happens happens. i'll never attend a game anyway so unless i indirectly spend money on something that may go to the organization.....its someone elses money!!!

NFL owners are billionaires. Why take a pay cut. I wouldn't either.

then why have a salary cap. Let them spend away.
Still trickles down to the ticket buyers for the most part

With no cap NFL would be the same as baseball......Small markets basically have small chance to play in World Series. They are nothing more than minor league teams for the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers etc. They all have their own TV markets. NFL is National TV.
Cap makes everyone equal. Same in NBA.

What Ken said. :happy1:
