Title: What are you eating on Christmas?
Post by: LPS on December 12/23/23, 08:24:50 AM
I ordered 2 live lobsters from Maine here at the meat market.  I canceled them when I saw the nice big frozen lobster tails they had the other day and got two of them.  We are going to have them Monday afternoon.  SO that means mayhaps a steak on the grill Christmas eve. Subject to change.  We will steam the tails I think.  That is easy and works good.  Now need something for today.  ???

Various lasagnas.  Make ahead, put em in the oven, no one has to worry about futzing in the kitchen.

Gonna be 8 of us tomorrow and Monday.  Tomorrow the usual wings on the Traeger 3 different sauces,  Asian zing, Diablo and parmesan garlic,  will have a small crock pot of Buffalo wings. Gonna do something different tho, gonna sear em fast on the stove first and add some crunch.  Momma has Italian sliders on Hawaiian buns that are awesome,  right along with a veggie tray and other finger foods. Monday the ham hits the pit boss paired with cheesy taters, side salads and an unlimited amount of homemade Lefse. Pies? Not sure I'll have room but they'll be on the table. Hopefully the rain allows me to cook outside..

Gonna put a few Cornish hens in the smoker. Lots of sides and fixins, mincemeat pie (I get pie twice this year) and a beer or two.

We had Christmas today...

We had the traditional Ham & Scalloped Potatoes.
Of course we had all of the snacks before supper....crackers, shrimp, venison summer sausage, cheese, pickle and olive tray, meatballs and little hot dogs in BBQ sauce..

That sounds great.  Kind of like a pecan pie.  ???   Some whip cream or ice cream may be required on it too.

I forgot that i had to cook ribs for tonight.  I put the dry rub on last night and I'll do them in the oven instead of the smoker.  Less futzing around.

Looks like we settled on shrimp. Thought about pork tenderloins but looking too ugly outside with winds gusting to 30 mph and the promise of rain. New Years maybe better.

It's going to be just me and Mama today. I have some Crab legs in the freezer that need to be cooked.

So that's the plan.

Everyone has gone home. Just me and my bride, now. There is a slight possibility that I ate just a wee bit too much. It was all good.
Over the course of Sunday and Monday, we had cheeses, sausages, lil smokies, home made apple cider, home made donuts, huge egg bake with fried taters, Cornish hens, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, real cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, dinner rolls, homemade fudges and candies and cupcakes and pies.lots of coffee and maybe a few beers.
I shouldn't have to eat again till 2024. But I will.
      Merry Christmas, everyone.

Izzat a roadkill northern on the wall? Boar told me to ask...:rotflmao:

There then! Et shrimp, baked taters, cherry salad and raspberry jello with raspberries and cream cheese in it at noon. About 3 we went to our friends' place on Beaver Lake to graze & have some beers for a few hours. Like you tt, been an extensive variety of different stuff consumed over the past several days. My intestinal flora have been celebrating or protesting, I'm not sure which. All I know is it's a damn good thing there's a strong breeze when I step outside. Poppy ain't got nothin' on me...🦨 :whistling:
