Title: Glass of water.
Post by: tangle tooth on July 07/07/24, 09:37:55 PM
If you walk in to a restaurant, either sit down or fast food, and ask for just a glass of water, do they have to give you a glass free?

It's a loaded question.  :rotflmao:

Seriously I say no. I don't feel right even stopping at a gas station and using the bathroom without buying something.

I personally would not do it.

No they don't have to give it to you but they want you to come back and spend money there so they will probably give it to you. I always spend something if I use their services too.

I was thinking of a situation where, for whatever reason, you have a long walk to make on a hot day. You stop at a stop-and-rob or a fast food place and simply ask for a glass of water.
I'm going to have to ask the folks next time I go to a Kwik Trip. I'll also have to see if these places have drinking fountains. Hadn't thought of that.

Most Kwik Trips that I've been in have water fountains back by the bathrooms.

Bought us a new/used vehicle. A 2020 Honda Pilot with 40,000 miles. Not cheap but should last a long long time. A big change for a lifetime GM guy.

Don't know why I posted this under glass of water. I did have one at the dealership though.

If at a bar/restaurant, then I would say most give you a free water. Anywhere else I've been, usually charges now days.

Didn't someone on here, at one time, say they wanted to be just like Glenn?

If I'm on the road and need to 'go' and I stop at a gas station, I have no problem using the restroom without buying anything.  It makes up for all those times when I buy gas and don't have to take a wiz.  I figure it evens out for everyone over time.

Water in other parts of the world can be a pretty valuable commodity. In Italy you are expected to pay for it in most restaurants, except one region that requires it to be offered free.  In Switzerland, there are many free drinking water fountains in cities that have good quality fresh water.
