Has been sold again....... hopefully this transition goes better. But once again they get rid of anyone who knows that business.

Tough news for Bemidji. I reckon we all have (at best) mixed opinions about "private equity outdoor companies" and what they do to outdoor brands we've grown loyal to. (Remington )
Yeah, John Peterson did his best for the community, but after he'd sold controlling interest in Northland to Big Fish America, all he could really do was advise in the final sale. I'd say John had a sound exit strategy for himself in the business he built. He made sure it would stay where it was as long as he was running it, and after that, ya kinda have to hope to for the best.

Bad news! Northland had quality stuff and the colors of their packaging was attractive to shoppers too. Now I don't think I will continue to buy their products.

Yeah, that was what I liked best about Northland tackle - that it was local. (* sigh *)

It pretty much became a local packaging business when John sold it. Nothing was being made there at all. On the first sale they got rid of some good people who helped build it. Now they are competing against them because others seen their worth or they opened their own companies.

thats to bad........ i see nwhat happens when private equity companies take over.......ahem '''''FF!!! :doah:

Well, suppose we will see some new "stink bait" ice jigs, coming out of Texas soon! :rotflmao:

Kind of feel the same way now as I did when a hockey team left Minnesota for Texas. Pizzed. :angry2: :angry2: I have bought my fair share of their product. Oh well.

L&M in GR had smaller plastic bins of almost all of their jigs in bulk & even a few bins of bulk sinkers. They took all those bins down & bagged up a 25-30 count selection of different colors, styles, size jigs & put clearance on them. I looked at some of them & I don't believe I seen any bags priced at more than 8-$9. I think it was early October when they started to clear the jigs out.

Bout the only Northland products I've purchased lately have been the Tungsten jigs and some spinner baits. My lead jigs i might as well chuck them, too blah in color. I should look online to see if they have some deals..
