This is a great year for picking up used houses and snowmobiles. :happy1:
-
So.....the next question is ❓
What are the "rules" on these things?
If they are "attended" at all times, does it need a shelter license?
-
 It looks like it to me, HD.
All non-portable ice shelters must be licensed.
Wheeled fish houses are considered non-portable and must be licensed.
An annual shelter license costs $15 for residents and $37 for non-residents, not including issuing fees that may be charged. For the rest of the regs: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fishing/shelter.html

i dont have a house like that, but i see alot of castle's with it by the door!!!!
-
I put my numbers and my fish house license in my window from the inside. I think they have to be 3" tall but better double check. I just used a marker to write my DNR numbers on a piece of paper and display my fish house license in the clip of the clipboard. It is on a clip board that I lean in the window with my license. I have been checked and never had an issue with how I do it.

  so HD, looking at the 2nd picture......i take it thats a basic shelter. no like kitchen, or furnace and you supply your our heater???
still go good start and much more comfy then a pullover!!!!!!!! :happy1:
-
Rules say that the numbers have to be at least 2" high. I was just curious about the license. It says that it needs to be readily visible.

I don't have a pic of the front "V".... those pictures were the ones he posted on Fartbook.
Yes, there is a furnace that is controlled by a thermostat. A small counter top with a oven and 3 burner cooktop.

so......HD....question now that you had it out. is it very drafty??? i always had the perception that those toy hauler type houses with the big doors on the back werent as air tight as the non toy hauler types?
just curious is all!!!
-
Having a blanket to hang there on cold drafty days helps.
-
The wind was blowing like a mf'er... But it was really nice in the shack. No issues with the back doors at all.

So, when the ice season is done... do you guys that have houses store them indoors?
I made room in the barn, and got it inside. I'm just not sure if I wanna leave it in there.
I want to clean up the frame and undercoat it and do some welding on the fenders. But it does take up a lot of space.
-
I don't have one but it seems to me they were made for outdoor use so storing them outside shouldn't be a problem. Just remember like a boat get every crumb of food out or you'll get mice. Maybe if near electric run a fan inside for a few days to ensure everything is dry to avoid mildew? I really don't know, I'm kinda useless.

i'd leave it outside and keep the door open so,,,,,,,,,,,,ahem, .......all the skurrels you supposedly have :rotflmao: :bonk: have a safe space!!!!!! :sleazy:
it make take up a fair amount of room....but if its not in the way.......keep it inside.........but like dutchy said....they are built for outside. and before ya know it thewife will use it for extra storage space!!!!!! :rotflmao:

Mine stays outside and I keep a window cracked so it has circulation. I have screens on my windows. If I could keep it inside I sure would. Fill it with mice repellent. Mine is tight enough that I have never had mice in it yet.
-
You can store outside but if it were mine I would put an RV cover on it. Sun is the worst enemy for outdoor toys.

I do the same thing as Barry.
