Momma ordered this fella about a month ago, no more buying shredded cheese. Works pretty slick, suction cups down on the counter and you shredded whatever you like. About 4 cranks and the blocks were gone. A bunch of different blades for other foods like potatoes, cooked chicken etc. While your on Amazon lps, give it a whirl

looks real slick!!!

It does look slick. And I'll bet its cheaper and better for you too. Don't they add stuff to shredded cheese to keep it from sticking together?

we wondered about that also Steve-o... a big batch of fresh cheese does stick a little but after a few days it seams fine. I'm looking forward to smoking some blocks again!

That looks great! I just showed it to the wife and she empasized NO! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: They do look handy. I bet fresh ground cheese tastes a world better. Fresh colby or cheddar or even swiss.

If she does hash browns good may have to give her a look! ;)

I like non-electric appliances. I do have a couple of questions.
A). How hard is it to clean?
2). Can you get blades to grind the morning coffee?

Scroll down on the link, looks like tater chips also. I like non-electric appliances. I do have a couple of questions.

Momma tore it apart and everything cleaned nice. I believe they show dicing nuts with a certain blade, can't see why it wouldn't work with coffee beans, might not be fine enough. Gotta remember this thing is mainly plastic, I went easy with it but it sure gobbled up the cheese. If I think of it I'll grind up a tater today.
-
Grater looks like a neat tool. I grate most of our cheese from blocks as well. We go through it so fast we don't have to worry about it sticking together much. Also work great for grinding crackers for breading too.
-
That looks very handy. How well do you think it would hold up to doing 2lb of carrots? It looks like this slicer would go through them faster than the mandoline one I am currently using.

She did carrots the other day she says. No peeling just grabbed 2 taters and ran em thru, pretty effortless. Chips are in the air fryer as we speak.

Getting more tempting! :happy1:
Not convinced on air fryer cooking yet. Need to see someone else cooking with it first
-
yes it is and I really enjoy my air fryer!!!
-
We had an air fryer sitting here for about a year. I started using it and I really like it. I have not found a breaded fish recipe I like but really like it for chicken pieces. Just did tater tots in it tonight.
How did the chips turn out?
-
We make frozen french fries in our air fryer and they are great. Those chips you made look perfect.
-
Sold. One is on order. Thank you for sharing. You can get crispers fries if you rinse your spuds a couple of time until the water dumps out clear and then soak them for an hour. This will remove most of the starch.

Chicken wings in the air fryer are good also.

I need to learn how to do good chicken wings. Never have made a "great" batch. The air fryer may be the ticket. Maybe Super Bowl. Just throw them in frozen?

I can't say I do chicken wings great either. I'm willing to listen and learn, but can you get fall-off-the-bone tender chicken wings in an air frier?
What I usually do is dry rub/season the wings, grill em to brown em up, and then move them to the slow cooker. I'll usually pour a bottle of marinade over them while they are in the slow cooker. Or, you could just slow cook em and toss em in sauce when they're done like the restaurants do.

A couple recipes I use for wings in the air fryer. Always pre-heat your air fryer. Both start with dried wing sections:
2lbs chicken wings (fresh, flats and drumettes, about 18 pieces)
2 tsp kosher salt
2 tsp thyme, dried
2 tsp rosemary, dried
2 tsp oregano, dried
1 tsp ground mustard
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp vegetable or olive oil
Mix all dry ingredients in a bag. In a bowl or bag moisten the chicken in oil. Pre-heat air fryer to 390 for 5-10 minutes. Cook wings 20-25 minutes unit they hit an internal temp of 165 degrees. Flip about half way through.
My favorite:
6 chicken legs or wing sections
3 tbs brown sugar
1.5 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp ground mustard
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1 tbs vegetable or olive oil
Mix all dry ingredients in a bag. In a bowl or bag moisten the chicken in oil. Pre-heat air fryer to 390 for 5-10 minutes. Cook wings 20-25 minutes unit they hit an internal temp of 165 degrees. Turn over wing sections at least once or twice.
For hot wings place in a bowl with Sweet Baby Rays wing sauce with a pat of melted butter. Or use your other favorite sauces. Coat the wings and cook 4-5 minutes longer until browned
Yes they will fall off the bone.
Sorry Bobber....did not mean to steal your post about the shredder!!

Well we could have Bobb's fries and youse guys chicken wings. Great combo.

atta boy Rodwork, and thanks for the tip. Don't sweat it Scenic we need to talk air fryers also. We did a batch of sunfish last summer in it, sure wish i didn't cuz it just wasn't the same. Ours here gets a good workout, too bad tho that the cooking area is small. The BIL told me last weekend he thru a New York strip in just to see, turned pretty good he said, but not for me i told him...
-
I also tried a small steak in the Air Fryer and not my thing either. As for fish I did do a chunk of salmon in it that turned out ok. But then that was not breaded either. It does work great for re-heating fried fish though. That basket is small on the one I have as well and it seems you cannot crowd the stuff in those things.

Spray the chicken wings with some Pam and they crisp up when cooked for about 12 to 15 minutes. Baked potatoes are good too, put oil and salt bake about 40 minutes, skin gets nice and crispy. Hot dogs in the air fryer are almost as good as on the grill.

Good to know about the spuds Coffee!! That's how I do em on the grill, when not wrapped in bacon.

Coffee business is still doing really good, July will be 15 years of owning the shop and 7 more to go until I wrap up this damn work thing. No I’m about 20 miles north east of Pittsburgh.

Coffee's a Steelers fan! :happy1: :rotflmao:
Yep he has good coffee.. still get some from him. :coffee: :happy1:

Not convinced on air fryer cooking yet. Need to see someone else cooking with it first
Not to be a Debbie Downer here but the air fryer has had mixed reviews at the ranch from moi, the primary user, starting with the instruction manual. We have a Power XL 5 QT. which is relatively small. Someone decided I should have one other than myself so my 1st advice would be to buy one with the features you want rather than what someone thinks you should have. I have a whole attic full of kitchen gadgets someone thought I should have starting with Presto sandwich makers & Twinkie making thingies up thru a George Foreman grill. The air fryer has been a trial & error process thanks largely to the poor instruction manual. "Shake" the contents halfway thru cooking? Ya right. You better actually manually turn the stuff or it will be glued together or stuck to the bottom of the fryer basket. And yes, I've tried spraying crap on it 1st & the basket itself, usually to no avail.
It does some things very well. Most potato recipes turn out decent and onion rings are the bomb. So are breakfast sausages from the local meat market. Some kinds of breaded fish are really good while others wind up up stuck to the basket. Battered shrimp? Messy clean up. Reluctant to toss anything that costs double-digits per lb. in it. Since I don't eat a lot of fried food & the wife hates chicken, I'll take my chances on the charcoal Weber 1st. Besides, 2 half legs of lamb won't fit in it. I was gonna ask boober, how did those hash browns turn out? Tried them once here expecting great things but was mildly disappointed. Was hungry so ate them anyway.
Clean up has been fairly easy although if you're not careful, the little silicone rubber tabs/bumpers that hold the steamer plate in place on this one are easy to dislodge and end up going down the drain. Cheap to replace but you have to order them. The steamer plate will flop around otherwise. Just ordered more tabs & told the wife to be more careful after burning the snot out of my hand when I was unaware they were missing.

ouch!!

The problem with all these kitchen gadgets is that they all take up counter space. We use to use ours mainly for things like onion rings and French fries and the like. It worked great but when the warden got her Kuerig it got moved to our storage room. Kind of a pain to go down the basement to get it whenever I might want to use it. Never really did give it a chance to try some things I had in mind. These posts make me want to take it out of retirement!
-
I sure understand that having counter room for sure. I too have a ton of gadgets that I should just get rid of. Stuff that has not been used in a long time. The air fryer is a tool but not made for everything.
Made these tonight in it. I used dry rub that got a bit brown. Chicken was fall off the bone done.

Looks Great.
-
Those wings look dynamite Scenic! Gonna hafta try that. Dotch momma has pre cut parchment sheets that fit this unit, but i always forget to use em. Haven't tried the hash brown's yet, believe they are in the fridge yet..

Thanks. I used the bottom recipe to make those.
The liners they make are the clear deal. Makes cleanup super easy. I have found that when using them you do need to flip the food.
-
well one is on order for me now too.. :rotflmao: :happy1:

Gave your air fryer wing recipe a shot Scenic. Really good, juicey and we'll give them ago again. Momma had whole wings this round but it didn't matter, just that little shot of cayenne pepper gave it a perfect bite that the Asian Zing never got used!!

Love the beets. Try them Glenn. LOL

I like beets both cooked and pickled.
-
I heard they're really good with buttered noodles... :coffee:
-
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: you guys ain't right! :surrender: :rotflmao:
-
Those wings look good Bobber. Glad it worked out for you! And nothing wrong with buttered beets either.
We did Air Fryer Salmon and wild rice here tonight.
-
This device does work well and is easy to clean. I was surprised how fast it went through carrots and potatoes. I just wish it was able to produce larger chunks or cuts. The thinner potato chunks are perfect size for the air fryer and making chips.
-
just got mine... :happy1:
