 just ran across this tidbit of helpful information and i thought i'd just take the opportunity to cover that base, before someone runs into trouble of a larger proportion ;)

There are many different kinds of mussels in MN, 5 out of 6 are inedible (toxic believe me I tried). Out of the rest a couple might even be legal to harvest. I actually did read up on this once and got confused so decided it wasn't worth figuring it out.

You must know your mussels first.
