We had a mouse problem a few weeks ago and along with traps, we put down some D-Con. Well today during some spring cleaning, we had the closet door open where the D-Con was and my golden retriever got in there and ate some. We knew immediatly so I rushed her to the emergency vet clinic where they induced vomiting and prescribed some other stuff. Now who's dumber? The dog for eating it or me for having it there in a house with 3 dogs? Yeah I know; its me. ::banghead::
Well the D-con is gone and the dog is fine but I just thought I'd recomend to anyone with dogs to not use poison for mice/pests. It only takes a moment for the dogs to sniff it out and they can down it quick. Its toxic no matter how much the get in them.

I'm glad to hear that you seen your dog eat the poison and got him in right away. My dog got a hold of some and I still don't know to this day where he could have got it from but thats what the vet said it was. Well after almost $3000.00 in vet bills he finally pulled through but I didn't think he was going to make it. They did plasma transfusions and everything. So I guess you have one lucky dog there.

thats why i use those glue boards they work pretty good

Glad to hear things worked in your favor. I to use those glue boards, worse case scenario-Glue boards stuck to dogs nose- loss of a little skin ;D ;D ;D ;D

A bit off topic.
When I was a couple yrs old I ate some at my aunt an uncles. Back then it just looked like oatmeal and that is what I thought I was eating. Needless to say the folks took a trip to the hospital in the snow at 100 plus MPH.
I can't remember any of this but have heard it many times. Can't remember gettin my stomach pumped either.

Glad to hear the pooch is okay. The domestic animals are so innocent and SOOO dumb at times. My question is why can't the mouse kill folks produce a product appetizing in smell and flavor to rodents, but distastetful to rodents and Griz (JK)? I had moles at my last home and I was very afraid and never did lay down rodent control stuff due to that reason. D-Con ...don't take my dog away.
