Title: A family in need.
Post by: gophergunner on November 11/16/17, 10:46:10 PM
Guys, I need some help.  I go on another Mn. hunting sight on Facebook and I've made the acquaintance of a family on there that's going through some tough times. They just bought a used car, which pretty much wiped them out financially, and it all ready died on them. They are facing some tough hurdles, and Christmas isn't looking very merry right now.  I'm trying to put together a care package to help them out.  They have two kids-a thirteen year old son, and an 18 year old daughter.  The boy is interested in hunting, and the daughter is interested in drawing.  From talking to the father, all the son currently has is an orange vest.  I'd like to put together some gear to give him.  I have some basic stuff I'll be sending off his way.  As for the daughter, I don't know what to get her, maybe some art suppllies, and a CD or something.  I'll take care of that, but if you guys have any stuff you'd like to contribute for the son's hunting interest, I'd be happy to package it up and forward it to the family before the holidays.  I can pick up anywhere in the Twin Cities area, and will be headed north this weekend to pick up my deer from the butcher up in Emily.  The son wears size large shirts and coats.  Here's what I have to give him:  hunting knife, drag rope, swiss army style knife, stainless  steel vaccuum bottle, compass, some gun cleaning supplies, and whatever else I can find around here.  What would be nice if anyone has this stuff would be:  a orange or camo daysack, a sz. lrg. hooded sweatshirt in orange or camo, gutting gloves, light hunting gloves (work gloves would be fine) winter hunting gloves, sz. lrg. long johns, sweat socks, hunting socks, etc. This doesn't have to be new stuff-used is fine.  If anyone wants to help out, his wife is in need of a winter coat, in camo or pink camo, sz. XL.  I have tried asking the father what his needs are, but he refuses any attempts I have made to find out what he needs.  If you have duplicates on any of this gear that you can part with, we might be able to make this family's Christmas a little brighter.  I sent them a small ($25.00) Wal-Mart gift card today.  Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you are interested in helping them out, contact me here.  Thanks folks.

Absolutely!  Thank you so much.  Let me know how we can make arrangements to pick it up.  I also found out that the 13 yr. old son's pants size is 32/30 and his shoe size is 8 1/2.  A little background on what makes me want to do this:  I was one of three kids, and the son of a carpenter in North East Ohio.  Dad's work wasn't always good, especially once the snow started flying.  I remember many lean Christmas holidays.  I also well remember the importance of my brother and I providing meat for the family.  We ate a lot of squirrel, rabbit, and pheasant.  On the years Dad didn't get a deer, it was always a little tougher, but we managed.  I hate to see other's having a tough time around the holidays.  If I can do anything to help these folks out, I try.  Anything you might have to donate would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks guys!

Nice goin', Gophergunner! Be danged glad to.  I also hear ya.
I have a couple brand new thermos's and cold/hot drink containers I received for ice fishing a couple years ago. Never used. Still in box. I also have a brand new folding lock-blade skinning or fishing knife, 13" when open, with a walnut handle in sheath. If someone is down this way, be very happy to contribute them. I'd gladly mail them to wherever, but things are kinda tight here right now.

This is so nice of everyone.  The family lives up in Sandstone, and I'd be happy to run this stuff up to them. If anyone wants to go along when I take it, we could have a mini meet and greet, spread some cheer, and promote our group here.  These folks can certainly use this help guys.  I really appreciate everyone replying here.

This is really taking off guys, and I can see I've got some work to do here.  I'm on my first cup of coffee here, and will be diving into this to respond to everyone who's posted here.  I figured out the private messaging, and will be getting ahold of everyone today.  It looks like we'll have all the donations sent here, and I'll forward everything to the family in time for Christmas.  Please bear with me as I wade through these responses, but if I miss you, contact me to remind me to get ahold of you.  I can't thank everyone enough.  This is so cool that we can help these folks out a bit around the holidays. I'll be in touch soon with everyone who's replied.  Thanks again guys.

Deadeye-I'm sure this will all get put to good use.  I asked the father if he needed a scope for his 30-30, but it's an older Model 94 and he would need a side mount-it's not an Angle Eject, and he will just stay with the open sights.  I will be sending him a sling and swivels for it as well as a gun case.

Thanks again to everyone who's helping out here.

I believe I've responded to everyone's PM's and inquiries here so far.  If I missed anyone, don't be afraid to let me know.  I'm thrilled with how this is going, and I'm finding I've got to keep up with this every few hours or it gets too far ahead of me, so if anyone hasn't heard back from me, please PM me again.  I think I'll compile a list weekly of what we've come up with.  I talked to  Shane, and I will be bringing this up to them most like one or two weeks before Christmas on Sunday depending on my work schedule.  I can't possibly say thank you enough guys.

I don't want anyone to have to pony up for this twice.  We will have a very nice package of packages for them. guys.  Thanks to all who've stepped forward so far.  Anyone interested in contributing, we'd love to have you be a part of this. We've all been there before at one time or another.  Dad was a carpenter by trade, and I well remember some pretty lean winters when his work petered out and he didn't get a deer.  My brother and I did a lot of small game hunting, and while we viewed it as fun, we were putting a good bit of the meat on the table.  I trapped, sold squirrel tales to Mepps, turtle meat to a local restaurant-anything I could do to make a buck, and most of it went to Mom and Dad to help keep the lights on and the house warm.  Everyone's got their own struggles.  I'm just glad we have a chance to help these folks out.

Sunday morning update:  The ball is definitely rolling.  I received the first box of gear yesterday, with more on it's way.  I figured it's time know the names of the kids we're doing this for.  Samanatha (Sam) and Wyatt are the kids.  Shane has told me the mom is in tears over what we're doing.  Shane refuses to tell me what he needs, and all we've been told that Mom needs is a winter coat.  I have a question for the group:
Shane told me his daughter is allergic to bee stings, and I asked if they have epipens for her and he said no.  I am allergic to bee stings also, and have at least 4 epipens.  Do you guys think I'd be okay giving her an epi pen?  I'm going to buy them all the fixings for a holiday meal.  My wife and I plan on taking everything to them one to two weeks before Christmas so they've got it in plenty of time for opening.
I've been involved in several of these holiday efforts over the years with and through different groups, and I have to say this one is very moving, guys.  I can't thank you guys enough for what you're doing here.  Should anyone ever need anything, please be sure to make me your first call.

Many, many thanks,

Jeff

Goph, those epipens, they are not a narcotic, so you should be able to give them. as lomg as they are prescribe, and  shouldn't be cause they are not a nasrcotic. but double check with a pharmacist
Title: Re: A family in need.
Post by: Rebel SS on November 11/19/17, 10:16:37 AM
They're prescrip only, (narcotics has nothing to do with it) so you can't legally do it, but tough noogies. Give her one. Take any reference label off it with a name. You really think someone would check? hell no. It may save her life.  I'm allergic to beestings too, and one of my friends dropped dead 10 mns after getting stung last year by a bee when out shooting arrows. I wouldn't think twice about it.

I looked at work today briefly. (Wal-Mart)  They've got some nice kits with colored pencils, paint, brushes and stencils.  They didn't have a price on them, but I'll check later today-working a split shift.  Headed out in a few minutes here.

I'm going to shamelessly ask for more contributions from more members here guys.  I really want to help these guys out.  Cash isn't necessary although it will definitely help them out.   They are in need of lots of stuff, including food.  Do you have any canned goods you can donate?  Maybe go through the cabinets, see what you can spare?

I'll be going through my SHTF supplies in the basement.  Canned goods, cleaning supplies, paper products-it's all good.

I'm buying them the fixings for a holiday meal.  I'm hoping they run a sale on turkeys right after Thanksgiving to reduce their inventories.  Hope I can get a good deal on one.

They need our help guys, and it doesn't take much if we all pitch in.  If you can't get the stuff to me, I can come get it in the Twin Cities metro area.  Let me know if you've got  anything to give.

Shamelessly reminding all that this is the season of giving.

Thanks to all who've stepped up, and those considering doing so.

Boar-I agree, but only if that's okay with those donating cash.  I don't want anyone to think I'm taking advantage of this at all, or that I used their hard earned money on something they weren't aware of.

I've avoided asking that question directly.  I think the car situation caused so displacement with the employment.  I will politely inquire though.

Well, this is moving along guy.  I met up with HD yesterday and he made a very nice contribution to this effort.  I also rec'd another box in the mail yesterday.  I want to inventory what we have accumulated so far and post it here for everyone to see.  Work's been a grind, so I'm behind on this.  I hope I haven't missed responding to anyone.  I worked the closing shift (11 a.m. to 8 p.m) two days in a row, and I'm really dragging.  I'm a heart failure survivor, so it doesn't take much of a modification to my routine to make me very tired.

I just got a contact from Shane with a picture his very gifted daughter drew of a firefighter in full gear with a respirator tank and mask on. She's definitely got talent.  This is a long shot, but if anyone's got an easel she could work on, I'm sure she'd put it to good use.  Unless someone might have one, I think I'm going to buy her one.

I also learned that thankfully, they have a temporary fix to their transportaion.  They borrowed a truck from their fire chief?  Leads me to believe Shane must be a volunteer fire fighter.

I'm 9-6 today and tomorrow.  I'm hoping to lay the gear out tonight, take a pictue, and let everyoneknow where we're at with this.

My deepest thanks to all who've chosen to participate here.  We are making a differnce in this family's lives guys.

My best wishes for a very Happy Thanksgiving to all our families.

Thanks again guys,

Jeff

Update:  I have received three batches of gear and art supplies now guys.  I also rec'd a check today from XXXXXX in Charles City Ia.  It would be nice if you guys would stick a note in our envelopes with your MNOUTDOORSMAN handle on it, so I know who to thank.  I need to start putting this list together.  I'm really impressed with the support guys.  Thank you very much.  I'm going to try to lay everything out and take a picture of what we have.  I have learned that Shane is a 5 year member of his Volunteer Fire Dept., and I will be getting a good batch of cookies for him to take to his next meeting.  I asked if there was a church or charity I could make a small donation to, and he suggested his local food shelf, so I will be doing that too-out of my own money, not anything generated here. Thanks again guys, and rest assured, your generous donations will be put to good use.   Best Regards,  Jeff

Well guys, Christmas is rapidly approaching.  I will need to put a deadline on contributions for the family in need so I can get all this stuff organized and ready for the ride north.  I talked to Shane and it looks like I'll be going up to deliver everything on Sunday, December 17th.  I'd like to have rec'd everything by Friday the 15th.  If anyone plans on sending checks, please get them in the mail as soon as possible so I can get this all converted to cash. If I receive checks too late to get included in the trip, I will post here to thank the contributors, and mail them up to the family immediately upon cashing.  If anyone needs my contact info, and I haven't gotten it to you yet, message me here and I'll get it to you immediately.  One thing we haven't gotten that could be put to good use is some sz. large long johns.   Thannks for your suport of this family, guys.

Well, I had hoped to get a list of the donations put together to post here tonight, but it's been a busy day, so sorry guys, but it's gonna have to wait till tomorrow.  I've been asked how I met this family and that's a good question to ask of me.  I actually met Shane on line on a Facebook page called Minnesota Hunting Club.  I'd talked to him a few times casually on there, and came to find out his family was having some severe struggles.  They and bought a vehicle off a friend and it died after just a couple weeks.  They both just started new jobs.  Shane has borrowed a vehicle off the fire chief of his VFD, of which he is a 5 year member.  They also have had to deal with a tragic death in their immediate family recently, and are putting that to rest.  They've had a very tough year, and Shane have very real concerns that they would not be able to provide Christmas for their kids.  That's where I stepped in.  I look for a family to help every year, as that's what the Christmas spirit means to me.  I am so appreciative of everyone's contributions  here.  You guys are going to make a positive difference in this family's lives.  Shane's wife has been brought to tears by what we are doing here.

We have a pretty good set of gifts put together.  Art supplies have come in for Sam, the daughter, and lots of hunting gear for the son. There's only two things I can think of that we could really use and haven't gotten yet.  A set of long johns, sz. large, and a universal gun cleaning kit for shotguns and rifles.  I thought I had one down in the man cave, but can't find one.  I am raiding my canned goods and putting together some food, paper goods, and bottled water for the family.  I will also be buying them all the fixings for a complete holiday dinner.  They prefer ham, so I'm looking for a good price on a decent ham, and everything that would go with it.

I was wondering if anyone was interested in riding with me to their house on Sunday December 17th to drop this stuff off with the family?  I would be coming up 35 from Prior Lake and could stop anywhere along 35 to match up with someone.  I' always worried about scams with this kind of stuff, and I don't want anyone to doubt my intentions, so if anyone wants to tag along, that would be great.  Sunday the 17th is the last Sunday before Christmas, so I'm sure everyone's gonna be busy, but if anyone wants to go, you're welcome to join me.

Shane doesn't have a shotgun, so I will be giving him a Hi Standard 12 gauge semi-auto I bought for such a purpose.  I'll also be giving him a box of shells, a box of clay pigeons, and a hand thrower so he can take his boy out shooting.

Thanks again for everyone's contributions here guys.  We can always use more, and it will be put to good use.

Best Regards,

Jeff

Also this is how it got started. I started to talk to,a great person on fb and he didnt even shy way from the problems I was having he talked to me. And he didnt have to,say anything back at all but he did. And it was first about are car we,bought and then the rearend went out. And then my mom not doing to well. And then I,started to tell him, more and more. About my brother that pasted away and about my son that pasted away and that my dad dont want anything to,do with me. I didnt ask for help I just asked for someone to talk to. And with everything going its hard with not having the money for stuff for,my son and hunting and my daughter dor her stuff. And he started this and then a lot of people started saying they will, help us out in this hard time and its all over welling because I didnt think there was people out there still that wpuld help us out. But I was, wrong and you once, again you have no,idea how much this touched are hearts and soul.and want to thank everyone out there.because not only did you all make a difference in my life its also making a difference in my kids life and my wife's. I wish I,could shake everyone's hands and say thank, you person to,person but I cant. So I have to,say it on here. I will pay it fowerd anyway I,can. Sorry if its hard to,read,my stuff with the spelling and so on.

Thank you again

Hi Netzel! I know we're all glad to be able to help someone out! I'd bet that almost each and everyone of us on here has gone through some tough times and situations in our lives, and think nothing of helping someone else thru the same thing, since we've all been there at one time or another. Makes it almost second nature to just do it. I hope you have a great holiday season, and remember that the greatest gift of all is what you have together in each other.....

Myself working outside for a living long John's are a must,  with saying that I always received some for Xmas.  These 3 pairs in the pic have hardly been touched  ( I run em down til they are pretty holey then Chuck em). 34-32 is close to what they are.  The cleaning kit I'll restock the liquids and pads. Can he or she use The  boots ?they are a lacross youth 9 1/2.  For sure I'll match boars twenty!!!
You hit a home run here sir.  Every bit of this was needed!  If the cleaning kit needs patches, I"ve got plenty here, so don't buy any.  PM to you with my address on it's way.  Thank you very much.

If anybody has some light weight gloves suitable for hunting in chilly but not necessarily cold weather, we could use 'em.  I'm thinking of "work" goves either in brown, camo, or orange.

Well guys, here's some pictures of what we've gotten in for the family yet.  In addition to what's displayed here, there will be a full box of clay pigeons, all the fixings for a holiday dinner, and whatever else comes in between now and when I deliver this stuff on Sunday the 17th.  With us being a bunch of hunters,we obviously have a lot more stuff for the son, so my intention is to wait until close to D-Day, and if we haven't gotten women's winter coats (both Mom and daughter wear XL) I will buy winter coats and other gifts for the daughter.  My daughter has some stuff she's adding to the pot, and whatever cash is left will go on a Wal-Mart gift card for the daughter.  I will write up an inventory of what we have while I've got everything laid out on the table and post that later tonight.  Thank you so much for everyone's generous contributions!

Okay guys, here's the inventory list.  Sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday.  Here goes:
12 ga. 28" Mod. Choke Hi-Standard Supermatic
Canvas lined gun case
1 bx. 12 ga. field loads.
1 bx. clay pigeors
1 clay pigeon hand thrower
1 bx. Winchester Super X 30-30 ammo 150 gr.
$65.00 in checks
$20.00 in cash
1 pr. orange camo coveralls
1 set orange camo hunting coat and pants
1 pr. Sorel boots
1 pr. LaCrosse boots
1 lined camo rain coat
1 camo daysack
1 orange stocking cap
2 orange billed caps
2 camo billed caps
1 set Cabela's insulated long johns
3 pr. long johns
1 pr. winter casual gloves
2 pr. camo gloves
1 pr. orange gloves
1 pr. work gloves
1 hunting knife with gut hook and sheath
1 fillet knife with sheath
1 tanto tipped survival knife with sheath and carbon fire starter rod
1 Swiss Army style knife
1 lensatic compass
1 head lamp
2 ponchos
1 gun cleaning kit with patches, gun oil and solvent
1 survival whistle/compass/match holder
2 cap lights
1 stainless stell thermos
1 travel cup
1 pr. Baska binoculars
1 mess kit
asst. canned good
pasta
cereal
bar soap
toilet paper
paper towels
complete art kit
1 pr. camo trapper's gauntlets
1 camo t-shirt
drag rope

I am still going through more of my stuff too.  I noticed we didn't end up with any socks, so I'll be throwing in some mid weight and heavy weight sock suitable for hunting, as well as all the fixings for a holiday meal, and cookies for Shane to take to his next VFD meeting. I will be using the cash and checks to purchase winter coats for the mother and daughter, as well as more gifts for the daughter.  My daughter is going through her stuff and will be donating to the cause too. Probably stuff like make-up and ??????  We are still graciously accepting any donations to this family.  Feel free to contact me here if you have any questions on any of this.  I'm still looking for someone to ride up to visit Shane's family and hand this stuff off to them.  There needs to be full accountability on my part, and I'd just as soon have someone else involved so there's no thoughts that I'd abuse this.  Anyone interested in riding to Sandstone with me on Sunday December 17th for the handoff, I could pick you up anywhere along the I-35 corridor anywhere between Lakeville and Sandstone.

Thanks again for all of your generous contributions.

Best Regards,

Jeff

I suppose it's time that I just posted something to just say thanks to all our members for contributing to this family.  Outdoorsmen are a unique bunch.  We work hard, and play hard too, and deep down have a ton of respect for each other.  I think it's safe to say that most of us have had a time when someone helped us out somehow.  I think it's also safe to say that when we know one of our brethren is not doing well, we want to do what we can to help.  You guys have come through here big time, and I thank you deeply for your generous contributions.  We ARE making a difference for this family.

Thanks again guys.

Sincerely,

Jeff

Well, I started wrapping all this stuff.  I should have made you pikers come down here and partake in this glorious event.
Lessons learned:

1)  I really suck at wrapping gifts.
2)  This is a 12 pack exercise, and I ain't got no 12 pack!

I should be done wrapping this stuff some time in March.  Of next year.

Well, I got the mother of all boxes today from our one and only Boar.  He must be a true duct tape aficionado, as he used about 7 miles of it to close this box up.  Then I went and tried to move the box.  I think I now have multiple hernias, several slipped discs, and I must have sprained something-heck I think I even got an ingrown toenail lifting that box!  There's a lot here, and I'll have to inventory it and put it on the list for all to see.  Thanks to Boar, and everyone else who's contributed here.  We're gonna make the North Star burn a little brighter for this family guys. Thank you one and all.

Best Regards,

Jeff

I don't really know exactly what to say.  I do this every year, just because I've been there my self in the past.  Christmas is such a "kids" holiday-I can't stand the thought of a family in crisis and not being able to provide Christmas for their family.  That's why I do this.

Some housekeeping stuff here:

I haven't had a chance to inventory Boar's huge box of stuff yet.  I might not get to it until this weekend. I'm off Sat. and Sun.  I have the doctor working today, and a Regional meeting all day tomorrow.

As for the Christmas meal, I'm thinking I might just buy it on the way north when I go up to deliver the presents.  I'll be going by several Wal-Mart's along the way, so should be no issue.

Still looking for someone interested in tagging along.  Just putting this out there-I know we've all got other holiday obligations this time of year, and I understand.  My son might come along unless someone else wants to.  I think it will be good for him to see how others struggle.  Maybe I can plant the seed in him to carry on this tradition.

As soon as Christmas is over, I will start looking for a gun for next year's season of giving.  I always try to find either a .22 or an inexpensive shotgun.  Guns on the list that fit that bill include Marlin Model 60's, lower end, but sturdy pump shotguns, like a Stevens, Winchester 120, or Mossberg 500.  Other possibilities include deer rifles in common calibers like a sporterized Mauser, or a Savage.  I can't put tons of money into this part of this project, so they have to be inexpensive, but very useable.  If anybody hears of anything like this, or sees anything along these lines at a flea market or garage sale, I'm interested.  I'd prefer to stay as close to $100.00 as I can get, which isn't much, but it seems like every year I somehow manage to get this done in this price range.

We'll see about doing this again next year.  I hate to beg from you guys every year, but as the old saying goes, it takes a village.

Thanks again for everyone's support and donations.  I'm sure I'll be saying this many times between now and then, but Merry Christmas.

Most Sincerely,

Jeff

Guys, I'd like to talk to everyone about taking pictures of the family.  These guys are going through some very tough times.  I'm sure there will be some smiles on their faces, but I'm also sure those smiles will be hiding some hurt and tears. I'm really apprehensive about stripping away their dignity by asking them to let me take some pictures.  I'm just not real comfortable with that.  I understand your feelings-our members here have stepped up to the plate and contributed a lot of nice stuff for these folks.  I can see why you want pictures, but I'd ask that we not do this, out of respect for the family.  I am at your mercy, as you guys have contributed so much. I'd like to just let them enjoy their Christmas as a family and not be looking for any more out of this.  For one thing, I really don't plan on staying while they open their gifts.  This is "family time" and should be as private as they want it.

I'd like to hear the group's opinion on this.  I will abide by your wishes as a group.  I'd rather see one of our members go with me, so there's no question of my intentions.  Please give this some thought and state your opinions here.  If you feel like you need some pictures, and that's the group consensus, I will respectfully ask them if we can get some.

I hope this isn't a deal breaker for anyone.  I just felt the need to state my thoughts on this, guys.

Thanks again for all the generous contributions.

Best Regards,

Jeff

Ya, know, I thought about that after I posted the pic idea, Jeff....and it's personal, but I'll tell ya why I thought about it. I think ya know I have assisted at the Salvation Army Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner things for many years. Well, the last three or four, I ate there too. The local TV stations always do a tidbit on the dinner, filming there. I didn't really appreciate being seen by everyone, and I always knew that some of the folks there were embarrassed by it too.....
So, I've changed my mind. Let's skip the pics. I have no issues with your intentions or what you are doing. I agree with your post completely, and it's well put. That's just my opinion on the matter, for what it's worth.

Last week to get in any donations to this effort.  I'll be going up Sunday to deliver the goods.  Shane has said they'd be home all day, so my travel itinerary is a little open ended.  I'd like to head up sometime during the morning, but other than that, I can vary the time a bit in case any one wants to tag along.  I could match up with anyone anywhere along the I-35 corridor from Prior Lake, north.  If anyone has gear they need me to pick up in the metro area, let's talk tonight so I can make plans.  Time is becoming of the essence. I don't have a day off work until Sunday, so I'd have to do it in the evening after work.

Just a head's up to all who sent checks-I will be cashing them on Thursday.  Because they're not from my bank, I'll probably have to deposit them to our checking and then take out the corresponding ammount.  If anyone has donations of merchandise or money for this worthy cause, please get them to me by Saturday of this week.  If you are located in the Twin Cities metro area, or along the I-35 corridor between Lakeville and Sandstone, I can make arrangements to pick up if you can't get these to me.  Contact me here ASAP.

Well, better late than never guys.  Here's the list of stuff that I rec'd from Boar.

Greek Heroes coffee table book
16 pc. Micro Line Artist's Markers set
Styles & Techniques of Sketching album
75 pg. spiral binder of Premium drawing paper
The Secret Language of Birthdays coffee table book
4 spiral notebooks of premium drawing paper
36 pc. colored pencil set
My Wish interchangeable watch set
25 pc. oil pastels drawing set
Lansky knife sharpening set
Blaze Storm Air Soft gun (Boar really had a hard time letting this one go!)
30 pc. Artists Marker Set
2 Moultrie Game Cams.

This was a big heavy box and I'm sure it cost Boar quite a bit to ship this.  Special thanks to him for stepping up.

I would be remiss to not thank EVERYONE once again.  This is coming together nicely. I will be buying winter coats for the ladies, the holiday meal items, some kitchen utensils for Sam as she prepares to move out on her own, and possibly a few other items.  We will be delivering all this on this Sunday.  My wife wants to ride up with me, so it will be the two of us.  She doesn't really like me traveling by my self due to my heart condition.

You guys reall did a great deed here.  Everyone should be very proud of what you accomplished here.

Thanks again,

Jeff

Another hour spent wrapping presents tonight.  I just might have to go get a bigger truck to haul all this loot, and there's more to come yet.

Today's the last chance to contribute to this family's Christmas.  I will come to wherever you're at and pick up what you have to contribute to the effort.I work till 6 tonight so it would have to be this evening, and in the Twin Cities metro area.  Things we could still use:

Blue and white patterned dish set
Kitchen utensils
Small and medium casserole dishes with lids
Microwaveable containers with lids
Kitchen supplies-dish rags, dish towels, dish soap, (liquid and for a dish washer) garbage bags, napkins, paper towels, etc.

Any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

I could also pick this stuff up tomorrow anywhere along the I-35 corridor between Lakeville and Sandstone.  We will be delivering the goods tomorrow between 12:30 and 2:00.

Today is Shane's birthday.  I'm sure he'd appreciate hearing from you guys with a happy birthday wish.  He joined our forum here, so if you look back a bit in this thread, you'd find him to send a PM or just do it here too.

Thanks again for your generousity and concern for this family in their troubling times.

I will check this thread tonight after work and see if I have to run anywhere to pick anything up.

Best Regards,

Jeff

My wife and I are heading to Wal-Mart to buy the last stuff for Shane's family, and then are heading north to drop it off later this morning. Please keep Shane's family in your thoughts today and in the coming days.  I'll post a follow up later today when we get home.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Thanks again for all you've done.

We just got back from Sandstone.  Dropped off all the gifts with Shane and met his boy Wyatt.  Reall a nice kid.  You guys all deserve a pat on the back for coming through for this family.  I can't possibly thank you all enough for your contributions.

As the old saying goes, it's the reason for the season.

Thanks again guys.  You made this work.

Most Sincerely,

Jeff

Hang in there Shane.  We're gonna get together and so some stuff for sure.  I'd be honored to drag the boat up your way and do some fishing, and if you want to get some hunting in next fall, that's gonna happen too buddy.  Best wishes and keep in touch or I'm gonna kick your butt!
