I'm currently trying to come up with a name for my hunting cabin/camp/land. This will be displayed on the front of the cabin and probably often used in reference to the place. I've got a few I'm considering but now I do like BobbyBass's "Camp Iwantotbethere" as in "Lake Iwantobethere". Question is would it be ok to use Bobby's lake place name for my camp or is doing that disrespectful to his memory. You thoughts please.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Maybe, if you were close to Bobby, it might be a nice tribute.
Otherwise let it happen organically. Places often have a way of naming themselves. You'll know it the first time it pops into your head or the first time you say it out loud. Just hope you don't have a bunch of friends that will tag it with something silly before you come up with something you're happy with.

We had a trailer house outside of of warroad. 12 miles from the lake. We called it the NOTQUITETOTHELAKESIDETRAILERTYPECABIN.

No, I didn't know Bobby personally only from his many twisted tails posted here and elsewhere.
Steve-O, We currently call it "the land" or "the cabin" as in I'm going to the land or I'm going to the Cabin.
Ponderosa won't work, no pines as well as not to western.

Rebel SS, No, never anything I don't like. The only buckthorn left are the ones we didn't see.
Boar, your not by the lakes would work as it's not on a lake. Probably not going to use MNO as that's trademarked.

Is it a Family Deer camp?
Why not something from the past=Grandpa, Dad, great uncle, or something for the future kids. Or an event that has happen like Hole in the horn camp, 8's or better camp etc.? Good luck.

When I grew up we spent our summer vacation at Ottertail. Back when my Uncle first bought his land there in the early 30's people called their cabins and resorts "Camps". Usually using the last name of the owner. Camp Nidaros I remember seeing their sign. My Dad would always say "see ya all back at camp". I always thought that sounded cool. Hence "Camp Deadeye".

"Deadeye's Den" came to mind along with "Whitetail Ridge" too. "iwanabethere" is great too. IMO. Good luck, keep us in loop on your decision.

Regardless of what name I (we) come up with, the general place will most likely still be referred to as "going to the land" or "going to the cabin", however, I still want to name the cabin/camp as it's own identity. I don't know if that makes sense or not.
