cooks hurt, dont know alot of details it took 2.5 hrs to find him dont know why, has back injuries and some bleeding in the brain send prayers please. any one wants a winter job let me.know, his son is running the shiw for nownand hes our for the season.

Update on cookie !
Spoke with the surgeon this morning , they are fitting him for a back brace. His L3 vertebrae his more damaged then his L1. Surgery is still up in the air tell he gets his brace and they have him up and out of bed. Once he’s up and moving for an hour or two they can do another scan on his back to determine surgery! The brain bleed is not concerning , which is wonderful news !

This was an update from Cookie (John) this morning.....
Goodmorning to all. Yes it's true I went off the road Tuesday evening
I think I may of dozed off and caught the shoulder? Anyway the wife foundme 3 hours later when I woke up andcalled her, I was 3 miles from home. Mybrain is fine little bleeding caused by hitting my head. Your body pumps blood there to protect it. The back is another story I'll k now more in a few days but I did walk once with a brace 50 feet.

So I just got back to the car from seeing cookie. First thing he said was boars a dork!! :rotflmao:
He said he could be going home in a couple days. He said he was feeling a bit funky today and you could tell he seemed really uncomfortable. It sounded to me like he won't go home with the back brace. The vertebras in his back need to heal on there own and said the brace doesn't do much.
He also said that one individual is coming up to help for the season and staying in hisvice house. He also had 2 others reach out to help info everything boar screws up. :rotflmao: just kidding bud.
After we talked a bit he goes, aren't you the one that's always fighting with boar!! :sleazy: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:. I do know this, as from what I read over time from his posts, someone is going to need to keep an eye on him so he doesn't make things worse.

Quick update:
Cookie is getting better daily. Still have not heard about surgery. He is one tough cookie. Thank you so much for all the generosity. Here is a update on cookie he will not need surgery so that's good news but he will be in a back brace for at least 3 months but that's not bad considering what it could have been he is feeling pretty sick tonight we are thinking it's the pain meds they are giving him so they are going to switch it up .thanks for all your kindness we live you all

Hope he is taking lots of stool softeners. Those pain pills block you up like concrete. That ends up worse than the pain if not tended to.

hi guys.. Just a big thanks for all the prayers. If you could keep them coming for dealing with pain that would be great.. Having trouble focusing on writing but just to know so many people have kind words and prayers makes me tear up.
write now its day by day with the ice fishing business as my son john is going to step up'. all my to do plans are still in my head as I lost over a week of prep work.
Again just a big thank you for all the kind words, its going to be a long winter ,if I can releave some of the pain would be huge for focusing

Sorry about your accident, and the very best to ya for a fast recuperation from down here. On the pain thing, focus on one thing you really like, and let yer mind just "get into it"....music really helps me. Always been deeply into music, I let the ol' rock tunes take me away and back when I'm bad. Had three spinal surgeries with 24/7 leg pains still, so I know where yer coming from. Keep telling yourself "this too shall pass", and just take it minute by minute. Hopefully soon it'll be but a memory....

justngot back from cookies. he thanks everyone for the donations and wellnwishes.it was tough to see him so broken. but it can always be worse. he'll make it. he has a min. 3 months in a body brace. fractured his L1 an L3. craked ribs, ajd almost bit his tounge off. i got him to chuckle tho. he's a tough cookie.

lori an i got to cookies about 130 friday after great time at her sisters place on thursday.we settled in and waited for my cousin and freind to show up, once they did we quickly headed out on the ice and made our way to a pressure ridge about a mile and half out, i love fishi g pressure ridges. its structure wher ther is no structure, making a dark shadow for bait fish to hide in.
once set up up it didnt take long to start producing fish, lori hit q 24" mike a 22 and myself a 22".we ended the night about 7 pm with 8 fish and took them to jr's to be cleaned and cooked up! they were to busy so ended up at west winds with a table full of fresh walleye and fries.
saturday started early with an 8 am ice time, lori slept in as the 3 of us make our way back out to the pressure ridge with a fresh spot. we could see a acre size open water hole about 75 yrds away that hadnt froze completely. with no fear as we wer on 10"of solid ice we set up and got settled in. i went back for lori and some coffee, and once we got back it wasnt long before the fun started.it was tough fun as it was pretty mu h dead sticks the did the most work. we ended the day with our limit and lori again with the big fish of the day af fat 22".
back at shore i fired up the grill and ther 4 ribeye on for a awesome supper grilled to perfection, after a evening of food and stories we walked back to our cabin and learned that a couple of guest had driven into anothe open hole and barely made it out alive after losi g their wheeler and johnnys portable seemed like booze was a factor in them getti g disoriented out ther. i loaded up the gear as we decided to zleep in an head back for a relaxing sunday afternoon and and breackfast at perkins. feeling greatful for the good Lord keepingnus safe we are already planing to go back soon but wann get in a muzzy hunt first.

it was alot of fun, cookies son johnny is running the show and a freind of his richies is laid off for the season and up to help out for the ice season, i borrowed them a back up auger and a back up generator. and will be back tonfish and help, this time he dosent have houses out on the lake so its not busy right now. i didnt go to help as ther wasnt any help needed.

:happy1: Good to hear things were goin smooth enough that they didn't need that much help from you & you got to fish. :cool: Forecast is for colder weather up there, so how much ice do they need before putting their houses out? I know it can get :crazy: busy up there sometimes as even the bait shop in Deer River feels it from people goin up there. Know of an ex-outfitter up there who said they, all the outfitters, sold 9,000 road passes on New Years weekend, 2 or 3 years ago. :crazy:
