I am going over to a farm that raises lots of good veggies tomorrow.  I am getting 50 lbs instead of 40 which means 50 qts of pickles.  I also ordered 20 lbs of carrots for smoothies.  They are great for that.  Also lots of garlic and dill too.  May have to get more onions too.

Just got back from the produce farm.  They have a lot of stuff.  They only had 35 lbs of pickles for me though.  SO I asked what is that growing there.  He said that is basil.  People buy it to put in ice cream.......   ???   I asked if they just sprinkle it on top and he said most people stir it in so it is everywhere in the ice cream.  He said it is actually pretty good.  I just can't wrap my head around that flavor combo...

SO in case you missed it.  The veggie farmer said people buy basil to put in their ice cream.  As I asked do they sprinkle some on top?   He said no they put enough on the ice cream and mix it in.  SO there is a good jag of basil in their ice cream!  Glenn you are the chosen one to try it!  Let us know how it works out.

Oh NO!  I was hoping you would say a month.  I know the longer the better but it is hard to wait.  We try to go 2 months.

I would think 2 should be good. I usually have some of the previous years models I use first so my newest batch does sit that long. :happy1:

Any of you guys ever try doing the dill pickles in the crock thing? My Father in law used to make them that way and they were some of the best pickles I ever had. A lot of time invested in making them.

Cast iron stomach I guess... :rotflmao: If you don't believe me, ask the General. We went to the Manannah bar and I ordered the "inferno burger", the owner kept asking me if I needed some water to wash it down and I asked him if he had some Tabasco cause his burger was a little bland.... :rotflmao:

I cut them in half (length wise)....cause the heat is in the seeds and membrane....if you leave them whole, you don't get the "full" effect..... :rotflmao:

I got some Reaper's for the next batch....those, will melt yur face off....  :happy1:

I can handle some jalapenos but not that other stuff.  Actually I would like to try them.  But man that sounds hot!!!   I did 7 qts with 1 1/2 jalapeno in each one and that is living on the edge here.  LOL I did three qts of an easy refrigerator pickles yesterday.  They are great!  LOL  I couldn't wait 24 hours.  You layer onions and sliced cukes.  Easy as can be.

The "really hot" ones (not really to me) we like in our bloodies LPS....kinda (as Emerald would say) kicks er up a knotch!  :happy1:

I have noticed that you boys are really "canning" pickles, I do a hot bath just to seal. They last a year or so in the cooler, but most times they are eaten before they will go bad. Mine, can be eaten the next day, but are better in about a week or so afterwards of "canning"....like Glenn say's...they gotta meld.....(oh....did I say that out loud? I agree with a Smurf  :banghead: )

Yeah, me to. It must be some sort of new corporate strategy to not have so much inventory in the stores/warehouses. I don't think the managers would like it at all as it would cut into their bonuses, so I doubt it's their idea.
