Most sites are unsecured.... only the ones that have personal information on are secure. Like your bank, credit union & online shopping. We don't store any personal information on this site except for your email address, and the only way someone could that, is if you give it out.

If you look at the site addy at the top of the screen, if it was secure, it would start with https:
If it's not secure, it starts with http:

Right. No big deal since you don't have a bunch of personal information on this site. So, is that why coffee has not been around?

It's no big deal on your end, but it is on mine....I have to keep an eye on fake memberships and keep the controls on admin approval only. If I didn't, spam bots (I do have a spam blocker program in place as well) could make a fake account and post a bunch of crap....then, if they bait you and con you into getting information from you, then you have a problem.

Well he didn't get spammed from this site unless he gave his information out to somebody he shouldn't have.

He never indicated it came from here and in no way did he incline to assume that. :happy1: your good HD.

This might be a bit off topic and I doubt that a couple experiences I have had are connected to this site, but thought I would share them.
About a year ago I received an email on my work email account that showed a password that I only use on my personal email in the subject line. No message, just the password. A couple days later I received a message that said “I have video of you watching porn and pleasuring yourself. I will send it to all of you contacts unless I receive $2,000.00 in Bitcoin within 48 hours. By the way, nice car—what will your contacts think when they see you face on the car with the video?”
I knew this was a scam, and ignored it. A couple days later, I received a threatening follow up that said time up was running out and the (nonexistent) video was about to be released. I didn’t have any fears about that, but notified the company that we contract IT services with. They said that somehow, my personal password was apparently for sale on the dark web and had somehow been tied to my work email address. I was advised to just delete the email, which I did. Since then, I have received about a half dozen identical emails and the follow up threats. They are all from different emailers.
Even though I knew this was not a possibility, it was pretty disturbing, and really pissed me off.
These guys should be tracked down and severely punished.
Again, I apologize if this is off topic, but it’s important to take these jerks seriously., and not cave in to their scare tactics.

Hey guys coffee here, I would check in every so often but never log in because I wasn’t sure about it saying not secure. HD sorry if it sounded like I was implying that it came from here, I know it didn’t and I didn’t mean to sound like I did. If u say I have nothing to worry about I trust you just didn’t want to take a chance. I got alerts from my credit company that my account from “my fitness” account and emails were hacked and were being used on the dark web. I had credit checks for loan applications and car loans. I had to check in with those places and confirm that I wasn’t applying for any loans. Then they had me check my S.S#  to make sure no one was using that. Last year I had the deed to my mothers house put in my name and I had to make sure there wasn’t a mortgage being taken out in it since it is paid off. It has just been a hassle and was taking all precautions I could, I didn’t know the difference between secure and unsecured sites. But when u see unsecured and went through what I did I was hesitant to log on. Hope this clears things up and hope to be on like I was before. Thanks

Great to hear from you Coffee  I too have wondered about the secured/unsecured thing but always hope those smarter than me had it under control.  Glad that you are ok.  I hope you are doing well Coffee.  We have missed you.

I guess I should have worded it better, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that it was anyone's fault. In a world of cyber attacks, everyone just needs to know to protect themselves.

I would suggest tho, never staying logged into any site, and change your password often.

I had a similar experience as FW about a year ago too, in that I received a threatening email saying they had my email password & other personal info. They wanted $1000 in Bitcoin within 2 days, knowing it was probably a scam but unsure how to handle it I showed it to my brother. Because of his work he was much more informed on this so in about 5 minutes he sat down & sent an email to the security department of our email service asking them to investigate. When he finished I changed my email password & that was the end of it. I knew they didn't have any other personal info to any of my secure sites as I check those closely & always have, at least once or twice a week. Never the less for the next month or 2 I checked all my finances online even more often. Not only knowing what to do to protect yourself online is important but also knowing what NOT to do is also. Just my .02

This happened to me too.  I googled the scam and they said old websites were compromised with account info, emails, and passwords.  It is really scary when your *real* password appears in the subject header of a blackmail email message.  The good news - for me - was that the data breach occurred a while back and I was no longer using that password.

And yes, this scam had nothing to do with MNO.

This might be a bit off topic and I doubt that a couple experiences I have had are connected to this site, but thought I would share them.

I've been talking to our tech- guy about securing our site. He said that every link and every photo would have to be secure. Even if you have a secure site and those things are not, that makes your site be unsecured.

Clear as mud?  :rotflmao:
