How do you guys process your tomatoes when they are just trickling in? Blanch then freeze?
-
I quit the whole blanch thing. I just put them in a bag and freeze them. When they start to thaw when I am going to use them the peels come right off.
-
I picked enough Early Girls and Saucy tomatoes today for the first batch of fresh salsa>
-
ok Barry we are going to try your freezing method.. that way we can get more maters too..
-
So, just wash them, bag them, and into the freezer whole? That’s a time saver.
-
Yup it works great and makes blanching a lot of un-needed work to me. We have had some tomatoes frozen for a couple of years and they still were great for stews and soups.
-
Now that I think about it I think someone on here told me that. Or the other place.
-
I'll hafta try that lps, I've been picking daily starting to give em away. How bout freezing for salsa yet ?
-

-
I have noticed more grasshoppers than usual this later summer. They make a snapping sound at times. The other day one landed by me and snapped 4 times. A strong snapping sound! Weren't like the big green ones we saw in Luverne but a darker color.
