I just read that since San Fran is so expensive to live in that the 49ers have a guy that helps players adjust to it. Trey Lance from Marshall is learning that now The average home price in Marshall is $198,000. That will get you about a 2,000 sf home. In San Fran the average price for an 1,800 sf home is $1.9 mil!!!

He best find one of them hot California girls to share a place with :sleazy: :rotflmao:
It was spendy 30 plus years ago when I was out there. worked on a milk tank and was out there a week
-
Haight Ashbury area? Must be just a great place and great climate to be that expensive.
-
Back in the early 80’s I did business with a company located in th Bay Area. The company sold and the employees had a chance to move to Decatur, Georgia. They were all extremely unhappy- until they were able to sell their small bungalows on postage stamp lots for enough money to buy nice big houses with acreage, swimming pools, three car garages, and at least, in one case, a “stable”. And then they still had money left over.
-
Don't NFL teams have a guy or a "fixer" for everything?
A guy to tell rookies to save their money.
A guy to remind players to stay out of trouble.
A guy to drive players home when they've had a few too many.
A guy to bail them out of jail when they don't call the guy who should drive them home.

Looks like the saints will be looking for a new head coach. Payton announced today he is retiring. But woundnt rule out a return after 2022.
Another piece said if Erin does retire he won't pull a Farve and unretire.

Yeah... right. Erin is a bigger Diva than Favre ever was.

May be he will come to the NFL retirement home. It would be fun to see him bang around with the Viks for s season! :blues brothers:
-
Rumors are that Jerry Jones wants him for the Cowboys. He still has 2 years left on his contract. So He would have to be traded to the Cowboys. A bunch of draft picks I would guess. Will have to fire McCarthy. He could be the next Vikes coach. Knows the NFC North.

Just because everybody wanted him, doesn't mean he is going to make the all the right moves.
The Vikings needed a new Head Coach in 2006 and the "hot" name floating around in the "inside circles" that everybody wanted was...
Brad Childress!!!
Previous owner "Red" McCombs ran the team on the cheap, and his choice for head coach, Mike Tice, didn't demand top dollar.
New owner Zigi Wilf fired Tice and - wanting to be the best organization in football - went out to hire the best out there, and the consensus choice back then was Chili. I remember it being said back then after they hired him, "We weren't going to let him leave the building without signing a contract."
Damn, I wish they would have let him interview with another team. :doah:
G'Luck to 'da Bears :blues brothers: and Poles.

Da Bears :blues brothers: got d'er coach.
Da Bronco got d'er coach.
What are da Viqueens waiting for?
-
Just hired a new GM.....Gotta giveive him a chance for input. They are interviewing candidates again.
-
Pederson maybe?
-
Former QB. Might be a good choice.
-
so Tom Brady is retiring I see..
-
That doesn't surprise me, him and his super model have enough money to support all of us. I spose gronk will retire again then.
-
so Tom Brady is retiring I see.. depends on the source you read or listen to at the moment??????
-
 Seen it come across ESPN that he's done this afternoon too. Heard she hates watching play on Sunday anymore because she's afraid he'll get badly injured.
-
I would think all of that training would eventually get to be a drag.
-
Gronk only plays if Brady doesn't retire.
-
Gronk is done. The NFL doesn't have rules to protect tight ends running across the middle like it does QBs.
Besides, Gronk has his own super model girlfriend and plenty of money.

Bills Rumors: Could Rob Gronkowski Land in Buffalo If Tom Brady Retires? (https://heavy.com/sports/buffalo-bills/rob-gronkowski-bucs-contract/)
Before Gronkowski re-signed with the Bucs last season, it was reported that the Bills, who were in the business of looking to sign a tight end, made an offer to the 6-foot-6 offensive stud. News 4 Buffalo reporter Matt Parrino tweeted on Saturday, January 29, “Now with Tom Brady retiring, interested to see if Rob Gronkowski considers playing with Josh Allen. He said Bills were in the mix last year.”
-
Doubtful, Gronk has enough money he will just go out with Brady and be happy. From what I've read he is pretty tight with his money and won't have to worry about that.
-
Yea dutchy heard that too. From what I read he lives off his endorsement money and stashes his football money.
Today's local paper had an article about a local cold spring, ROCORI, kid that played his college ball in ND. He's playing Saturday in a college all star game, sounds like he has a decent chance of playing in the NFL. :happy1: the latest mock draft has him going to the Packers in the 4th round. Guess he's 6' 7 and 300 lbs and an offensive lineman.
IF he makes it he would be the 3rd ROCORI kid to make it to the NFL. Eric Decker, and Ricky Bell before him.

Hows those lawsuits coming along? Goodell is going to have his hands full burying this one. Those women are pissed and have Snyder squarely in their sights. It will be full to see the NFL squirm.

Well I won't go so far as to say it was a real football game, more like touch football, but it was really entertaining to watch. Some of the interviews, watching the 2 Diggs brothers prodding each other. They showed some footage of the contests that happened during the week. Was a good 3 hours of entertainment for me! :happy1:
-
Why don't they just wear shorts and use flags. Like watching my 10 year old grandson play football. :bs: :bs: :bs:

I watched some of it too. Was good to see them all laughing and having fun.

Packers' Aaron Rodgers named 2021 NFL MVP (https://www.foxnews.com/sports/packers-aaron-rodgers-2021-nfl-mvp)
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named the NFL's most valuable player on Thursday night at the NFL Honors presentation in Los Angeles, becoming the fifth player in league history to earn the award in back-to-back seasons.
Rodgers, 38, edged out Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady with his stellar regular-season performance for his fourth MVP award, just one away from Peyton Manning's record five.
Upon hearing the announcement, Rodgers was quoted as saying, ":queen:"

With the drama and :bs: he was involved in, regardless of his stats, he should of never even been considered. :pouty:
-
When you run off the field like a little girl after losing to the niners and not congratulate the winning team, he has no business earning the award..
-
I don't understand it. SO Burrows takes his team to the Super Bowl in his second year, and Stafford gets his new team there in his first year with them. I see them both as more deserving of MVP than K-aaron. So what did he do? Win the weakest division in the league. Big deal.
-
Yea what a pinces
-
Votes likely were tabulated prior to the play-offs where Erin peed himself again.
With all the things wrong today in the NFL I don't really care who gets a worthless award.

Ditto

Superbowl halftime show... I was not entertained. :puke:

Yeah, but mainstream media feels obliged to suck-up and praise it.

I used to love watching the Super Bowl and Orange Bowl halftime shows. I watch the first minute or so and turn the channel. Turn back when they are over.
Rapp is nothing but POOR poetry with background music. And you can't understand a word they are saying.

I gotta admin, though, it was pretty funny when they showed that the Bengal's kicker stayed on the field to watch the halftime show instead of going in to prepare for the second half with the team. :rotflmao: :happy1:

So the Pats/Belichick lost the greatest quarterback of all times two years ago and this year he lost a guy from the front office and his right-hand-man Offensive Coordinator to the Raiders.
Belichick will be 70 soon. I wonder how long he will keep at this.
-
I've wondered that too. Is there life other than football and being the boss to someone like him?

He will never get married. It's all a front cuz he's Gay! :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I hate to go back to the halftime show but makes you wonder if we'll see another performance directed at our age group, with the NFL all on board with black lives matter..
-
Yep. They seem to think the woke crowd is their future.
-
I wondered that too.
-
i see where the steelers hired the coach who filed a lawsuit against the NFL!!!!!!!!
-
Kinda like when the 49ers fired Mike Singletary... The next year the Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier picked his ol' Chicago Bears buddy as the linebackers coach/assistant to the head coach.
-
I read a pc yday where Troy Aikman's contract is up at Fox & is in serious negotiations with ESPN to do MNF. Yday it mentioned Al Michaels as a possible partner in the booth but what I read today said he could bring Joe Buck with him. Estimates were for Romo type money of $200 mil/10 yrs, allegedly Amazon was looking to sign Aikman too.
-
You can't be considered a legit NFL TV option without first rate announcers. Thats what ESPN found out with their MNF crew, which costs them about 75 cents per game total. It's been a long time since i've watched a Monday night game with decent announcers. What the sport is finding is there aren't enough quality announcing teams around to cover all the various outlets and all the days they want games on.
-
Yeah, it was way more fun to watch the Manning brothers.
-
Thought I seen something where the NFL just got rid of ALL COVID :bs:. Anyone else see this???
-
seen this; https://sports.yahoo.com/two-years-into-the-pandemic-the-nfl-is-eliminating-covid-testing-171133311.html
-
Yeah, the whole county seems over Covid - everyone 'cept the Biden's Administration of course. ;)
It was never follow the science. It was always follow the money and try to figure out which way the political wind was blowing.
Now that a 'UGE chunk of money has been made by Big Pharma and Biden finally realizes most Americans are sick of Draconian mandates, he says, "Get kids back in school." Thanks for the leadership, chief.
But as far as the NFL was concerned, keeping all those testing regimes and isolation protocols in place was costing them money. To them, testing players for weed and Covid is bad for business. :rotflmao:
-
 Seen it coming when they were forced to get rid of the bubble at the combine & did so with no backlash whatsoever.

Packers and Rodgers have agreed to terms on a four-year, $200 million deal. It makes him the highest paid player in league history. He’ll get $153 million guaranteed, and it will reduce his cap number of $46.66 million.
-
Seahawks agree to trade Russell Wilson to Broncos.

Seahawks agree to trade Russell Wilson to Broncos.
There is no way I would give up this much for Russell Wilson...
The Broncos have agreed to trade
- quarterback Drew Lock,
- tight end Noah Fant,
- defensive lineman Shelby Harris,
- two first-round picks,
- two second-round picks and
- a fifth-round pick
to the Seahawks for Wilson and a fourth-round pick, sources said.
The Broncos don't strike me as a team that is only one good quarterback away from a Superbowl title.
And if they aren't ready, they have mortgaged their ability to get better immediately by sending away so many high draft choices. By the time they can improve the squad, Wilson will be that much older and likely will have diminished skills. :doah:
I definitely like the Seahawks side of this deal. :happy1:
-

So Aaron :queen: Rodgers gets to have his day. He is the highest paid player in NFL league history. :kingscourt:
That is until the next big time free agent QB signing knocks him off his thrown. (They'll both be :rotflmao: :rotflmao: all the way to the bank.)
I can't wait to hear Rodgers whine when the Packa's can't afford to keep Devante Adams. Or maybe they pay Adams big bucks and A-Rog whines about them not being able to afford top notch offensive linemen. Or b!tc#es when the defense can't stop anyone.

i've heard with the signing of Erin....adams is going to get the franchise tag........... but i thought i read earlier he wouldnt play under the tag??/ :doofus: :doofus:
yea Erin is all about him.so much for being a team guy!!!!!!!
an injury to him and the pack are burnt toast!!!!!
-
So he is sucking the life out of the Pack like Cousins is doing here. How much money is enough? So maybe you like getting nailed by big linemen and linebackers since you have taken up all of the money that would have provided protection. AND k-aaron getting the player of they year is a joke too. Just cuz they won one of the weakest divisions in football??? I don't get it. I would have loved to have Wilson here but at a reduced cost definitely not a spend the farm to get him deal. I would be surprised if they even win their division now or the next few years too since they gave away those big draft picks. Well good luck to them.
-

I definitely like the Seahawks side of this deal. :happy1:
Spot on. Shades of Herschel Walker.
Bad deal ESPECIALLY since Wilson was sick of playing for the 'Hawks. Ya think that might have caused the price to be lower. (Or maybe it did lower the price.)
-
Packers officially use franchise tag on Davante Adams. Adams will play 2022 for $18.419 million if he plays on the tag. The sides have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal.
-
Adams doesn't have a choice if tagged. He plays or retires. Nobody walks away from $18 million.
Erin has his day in the sun and sticks the Packers. It's a good day to be the queen of the dance in Packerland.
-
On first blush, the players thought the Franchise Tag was a good deal for them, so they agreed to it in collective bargaining.
But now seeing the long term effects, none of those guys want to play on the Franchise Tag. Yeah, they get "Top-5" money for one year, but if they get hurt, they might never get another contract - or at least another big contract.
They like as much money guaranteed up front as possible, and then it doesn't matter so much if they get hurt, or cut; if they win or if they lose. They got paid. And I'm not blaming them because that is how the system works.
-
Commanders offered high picks in the 2022, 2023, and 2024 for Wilson. But he had a no trade clause and didn't want to go to Washington. Plus the Seahawks wanted him to go to the AFC. AFC West is now loaded with QB's. Wilson, Mahommes, Carr, and Justin Herbert.
-
Seahawks agree to trade Russell Wilson to Broncos.

Spot on. Shades of Herschel Walker.
Here's to rubbing more salt in the old wound...
Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings: The Best Trade in NFL History (https://bleacherreport.com/articles/140116-the-best-trade-in-nfl-history)
In 1989, at the peak of Walker's NFL career, the Cowboys sent Herschel Walker to the Vikings for five players and six draft picks.
The players were LB Jesse Solomon, DB Isiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, and DE Alex Stewart.
The picks turned into players such as Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson.
Walker played (only) two years for the Vikings and NEVER surpassed 1,000 rushing yards.
To think we could have had Emmitt Smith AND everyone else. :doah: :censored: :mad1:  :angry2: :puke:
-
The most important name Dallas had was Jimmy Johnson.
-
I saw maybe 5 minutes of the combine and Pete Carrol was smiling. Now I know why. He took Denver to the cleaners. I bet he is just giddy with all of that trade material.
-
Not a Pete fan ever since his USC days & they need a lot of help especially on defense. That's 1 reason Wilson wanted out IMO, he felt he had to carry the team. Many thought that Denver was only a player or 2 away last year too, so we'll see. Awfully tough division though.
-
The Billion dollar TV / Streaming deals the NFL is signing is just another blow to the fans. Yes there will be more exposure for those willing to pay for it. But winning will mean less and less as we go forward. They keep adding play-off teams so you don't really need to be that good to make the play-offs. Won't be long and the NFL will be like the college bowl scene, 5-6 record gets you a bowl.
TV bank accounts are full, stadiums are full, gambling is legal, people don't care about the moral compass on players. Congress closes their eyes. How can life be better as a NFL owner?
-
So Florio who is pretty knowledgeable but not always right predicts that Brady will go to the 49ers. I would take Garrapolo over Cousins any day. He got his team to the Championship game twice and the SB once. Cousins has won one playoff game in his whole career. I have heard Cousins to the Colts or Seattle.... :sleazy:
-

He got his team to the Championship game twice and the SB once. Cousins has won one playoff game in his whole career. I have heard Cousins to the Colts or Seattle.... :sleazy:
I see Garoppolo and Cousins as being interchangeable in general, but here are some differences that could be relevant here.
- Garoppolo had Kyle Shanahan as a coach, Kapt. Kirk had Zimmer.
- Cousins is the Devil-We-Know. More importantly, Cousins is the Devil-Kevin O'Connell-Knows from their days in Washington.
- Justin Jefferson had more receiving yards in his first two seasons than any other receiver in the league. Think about that. Cousins was throwing him those balls, so something was working despite Zim's vision for offensive conservatism.
- I couldn't tell you if Garoppolo is more of an intangible, inspirational leader than Cousins.
BUT, the Vikes could get out of that 2022 cap hit with Cousins' contract and sign an equivalent, middle-of-the-road QB with a more team-friendly deal, it would be tempting.
-
I don't know if he is any better but he has twice as many wins as losses. I am ready for a change. Kirk is 50-50 in wins and losses in his career and is a dud in the locker room. I actually think being a dud in the locker room is a huge issue. He is the exact opposite as Favre who threw 2 or 3 interceptions a game but had the great attitude in the locker room and the whole team was behind him. Kirk motivates noone.
-
Just watching Jimmy G you can tell he's got more fire in his belly. Weather he is a better QB than cousins, not sure.
Don't really care what they do, but if they get rid of cousins they need someone proven, a backup or rookie ain't gonna cut it. I actually believe cousins could be better now that they got new coaches
Yea Dutchy.... I said it!!🤭🤭😂

I agree Glenn.

I see where ex viking Jeff Gladney was found not quilty down in Texas. He still may half to deal with the NFL

I just read that Chicago is in the midst of a deal to trade Kalil Mack to the Chargers for a 2nd and 6th round pick. Surprised me that they would part with him but he is expensive.

Makes sense. Chicago ain't goin' no where next year. (Sorry, Lee. :embarrassed:) Best trade Mack while he still has some value an get something for him.

They may be unloading Hicks too. He would fit well here.

Deshawn Watson not indicted. So will he now be traded ?

I have been wondering how the whole 22 women case was going.

 Seen something about Hicks possibly ending up with Mack & the Chargers. Their new HC, Staley, was a LB coach with the Bears at 1 time.

Brady announces on Twitter.....unretiring, going back to Tampa.

Brady announces on Twitter.....unretiring, going back to Tampa.
How is this possible at his age?
The 44-year-old Brady led the NFL in yards passing (5,316), touchdowns (43), completions (485) and attempts (719) in 2021, but the Buccaneers lost at home to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs.
-
Took him 2 months to figure out..........
A) With the price of gas he needed to get back to work.
B) Hanging around all day with momma wasn't that much fun.
C) With Erin still in the NFC another trip to the Super Bowl was attainable.

Hope he didn't buy it from Brady.

I was hoping the queens would get rid of Cousins. Guess the new regime is all about mediocrity too. Hope I’m wrong.
-
I don't think there was a better option out there, unless you want to take a chance on Deshaun Watson.
The Panther's wanted a QB bad, and they might have been willing to give up a lot to get Cousins, but the Vikes still would have needed to find a QB.
If they plug in a washed-up journeyman or start from scratch with an unproven rookie, I gotta believe Jefferson, Cook, and some other good offensive players nearing free agency are gone. Then they would be completely starting from scratch.
I think this was their best move. Cousins is good. Maybe the new coaching staff can make him better.
And if Cousins turns out to be great, it will be really sad that the Vikes wasted 3 or 4 years of Cousins' career with a head coach who didn't trust him and wouldn't enable him.
-
Finding the key to unlock Cousins talent has been job 1 at Michigan State, Washington & now the Vikings. Could very well be what you see is what you get.

Cousins is fine for me. The Vikings aren't winning anything anyway so Cousins, Mond, Keenum doesn't matter to me. Maybe Zimmer was the problem, maybe not. We will be a lot smarter after this newest boy wonder has a year under his belt. Maybe he does carry the key................

All teams must be under the cap as of 13 minutes ago.

Oh Oh should be some news out there then.

Packers trade Adams to the Raiders for a first and second round choice this year. He will be the highest paid receiver. At $141 million over 5 years. Word is Pack offered the same, but he wanted out of GB.
Now who will Rogers throw to. Good for the NFC North.
:happy1: :happy1: :happy1:

I don't know but the Viks better grease Jefferson to make sure he sticks around awhile. :happy1:

I'm beginning to think that 24 hours after the Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup all the players should be released and be free agents. Re-shuffle the deck every year.
As much as I hated the baseball lock-out I will admit it's been fun watching these guys signing every day trying to hook a new team.

Watson going to the Browns. 3 number 1's and 2 number 2's. Baker Mayfield wants to go to the Colts. Now what will the NFL do about Watson?......Suspend him for some games?
-
Won't matter what he gets for a suspension. He got a guaranteed deal worth $230 million for 5 years for being a scumbag. Lets see those new "Cleveland Proud" shirts.
-
Watson going to the Browns. 3 number 1's and 2 number 2's. Baker Mayfield wants to go to the Colts. Now what will the NFL do about Watson?......Suspend him for some games?
I reckon so. Couldn't they keep Mayfield until they find out how long the suspension will be? But I suppose Mayfield's trade value is worth the most before the draft than after next season starts.
The NFL league office is in a tight spot now with Watson. No criminal charges, only civil. But those complaints are for sexual assault, which is a sore spot for the league.
And given the high price at least one team was willing to pay for his play, it clearly demonstrates that team owners and league officials are NOT on the same page when it comes to these things.
The Chiefs set a bad example when they sold the farm to move up and get Mahomes, but it paid off for them. Now, in a copycat league, other teams are trying to catch that same lightening in a bottle. Time will tell for the Browns.
-
No delete button????
-
Roethlisberger was accused of sexually assaulting a Georgia college student following a night of drinking in a Milledgeville, Ga., bar.
He was not charged by Georgia authorities. Nfl suspended him anyway. I would guess Watson will get at least that much.
-
Interesting in that yesterday Watson supposedly had eliminated the Browns as a possible trade.
-
Ya I remember that Rothlisberger thing. I think he had to sit out 4-6 games. He did a girl in the bathroom of a party and had a couple of guys outside the door not letting anyone in until he was done with the deed.
-
Originally 6 games. Commissioner reduced it to 4.
I could see the NFL saying that he has already sat out a whole season.....so no more suspension.
-
That must be what the Browns are thinking too. SO now Mayfield is looking for a landing spot. I actually like the guy. I hope his throwing arm has healed and he has a good year wherever he goes.
-
Originally 6 games. Commissioner reduced it to 4.
I could see the NFL saying that he has already sat out a whole season.....so no more suspension.
Problem with this is he was paid last season not to play. If the NFL isn't willing to suspend him they should award him the "NFL man of the year" award and a new Corvette.
-
Watson going to the Browns. 3 number 1's and 2 number 2's. Baker Mayfield wants to go to the Colts. Now what will the NFL do about Watson?......Suspend him for some games?
So here is the kick in the :mooning: ...
Watson signs fully guaranteed five year $230 Millon contract that starts in 2023. If (when) he gets suspended in 2022, his annual salary will be divided by 17 games per season, and he will lose that money for each game he is suspended.
But in 2022, he "only" makes $1,000,000. Most guys would want to start earning that big money right away. But now for each suspension game, he will only lose $58,000. If he would have wanted to start making the big money right away, he stood to lose $2.7Million per game. :undecided:
-
Don't think you will see any "Cleveland Proud" tee shirts on the fans. The kid is a pig and now he is a Brown.
-
I see another therapist just came forward with a civil suit against Watson. I saw some sports guys talking about massages and said most guys find one that works well with them and they keep that therapist. So why does Watson keep getting different ones?
-
The people of Cleveland should be soooo proud of their ownership for bringing this pig to town. :coffee:
-
I had the utmost of respect for Stefanski until this fiasco. Now I don't know what to think.
-
Not sure Stefanski had the final say in this; probably not.

Deshaun Watson subject of lawsuit from 23rd woman alleging sexual misconduct (https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jun/01/deshaun-watson-subject-of-lawsuit-from-23rd-woman-alleging-sexual-misconduct)
Watson has not spoken to the media since his introductory news conference on March 25. At that time, Watson said he has “never assaulted or disrespected or harassed any woman in my life.”
P.S. The lawyer for the women says there will be a 24th case filed soon. :doah:

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III was found dead in his home by Frisco Police, the Cowboys announced Wednesday. Barber's cause of death is unknown. He was 38 years old.
"We are heartbroken by the tragic death of Marion Barber III. Marion was an old-school, hard-nosed football player who ran with the will to win every down," The Cowboys said in a statement. "He had a passion for the game and love for his coaches and teammates. Our hearts go out to Marion's family and friends during this time."
Barber was drafted by Dallas in 2005, spending six of his seven seasons in the NFL with the Cowboys before retiring with the Chicago Bears. During the 2007 season, Barber earned a Pro-Bowl appearance.
The former Minnesota Golden Gopher rushed for 35 touchdowns during his standout collegiate career, and ranks fifth all-time in program history with 3,276 rushing yards. He also earned an All-Big Ten nod in 2003 as a redshirt sophomore.
-
Seen that on the 6 pm news. Sad thing.
-

Still no word on cause of death. The family had decided to NOT donate his brain to the CTE study.

NOW......all you wallyfart fans can be Denver Bronco fans. :rotflmao: wallyworld owners sounds like they bought the broncos....... :pouty: :pouty:
-
I was already a Broncos fan. Always liked watching Elway!
-
I liked watching him too JB!! Unless they played the Vikings!! :rotflmao:
I don't mind the Broncos, just not a Walmart fan!
-
One of the fun things about the NFL is you get to love the teams you love and hate the teams you hate - for any reason you want.
Some teams like the Cowboys and Seahawks and the Saints (minus Drew Brees) have a seemingly unending list of reasons to hate them.
But over the years, the Broncos never really did anything to evoke those kinds of negative feelings.
-
The Browns did a 180. From everyone finally noticing and liking them to despising them with the Watson pig on board. I hope Mayfield does get to go to Carolina after the Browns mishandled this whole situation.
-
I hope the Browns have to come crawling back to Mayfield to ask him to be the starter next season while Watson is suspended.
However, I don't know if it would do any good for Mayfield to hold out for a trade in that scenario.
But I can obviously see why he would say, "I'm not risking my health anymore by playing for the Browns."
-
Baker is out with the Browns, they already signed a back-up for Watson when he is suspended.
Denver is now a Walmart town as the slimeball Kroenke (sp) owns the Avs & Nuggets already.
-
This...
Baker Mayfield excused from Browns mandatory minicamp next week (https://www.nfl.com/news/baker-mayfield-excused-from-browns-mandatory-minicamp-next-week)
Baker Mayfield will be excused from the offseason workout sessions, a mutual decision between him and the team, coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed to reporters Wednesday.
"We felt like that was the best decision for both sides," Stefanski said, declining to discuss further his communication with Mayfield.
All players are subject to more than $90,000 in team fines if they are not present during all three days of mandatory minicamp, but Mayfield's excused absence means Cleveland will not penalize the quarterback.
Still, Mayfield remains on Cleveland's roster, as the team has so far failed to locate a trade partner for the quarterback. Carolina and Seattle remain potential landing spots for Mayfield, as their QB situations remain unresolved, but no move is imminent.
-
There are only 2 teams I really really.....
Puckers and the Cowpies.
-
I see where 20 out of the 24 who sued Watson have reached a settlement & signed a NDA. Now we know why they gave him so much money. I'm thinkin King Roger might have a different idea on how this should go, however. :tut:
-
And the settlements have no effect on the NFLs handling of the issue. It doesn't negate anything.
-
Right... And since Watson is "only" going to make $2 Million next year, even if Goodell suspends him for 8 games to start the season, he'll "only" lose $1 Million bucks.
BUT... The plaintiff laywer's knows Watson is getting $230 Million guaranteed in the years following.
So... I reckon those ladies that settled their suits got just "a wee bit more" than what the NFL could fine him for. :sleazy:
-
He had to make some kind of offensive move for himself. Anything for him to do now is better than nothing. He needs all of our forgiveness too. SO he better be working at it. I can't think of him ever having my respect. OR: Could he be such a dumbazz that these women know they can play him because there was sexual harassment going on. Even if they sort of enjoyed it, and I am sure some did. But what a way to put yourself out there when you are a pervert. It bit him in the ass and I'm glad it did. One of us would be in jail.
-
I feel sorry for the fans of Cleveland to have this clown be the face of the franchise.
Ownership & Watson deserve to get all the ridicule that will come their way today and forever. This isn't something that will go away overnight.
Justice would be a 40 game suspension not including preseason or play-off games.

Remember a few years ago how the Saints were said to be real tight with the New Orleans Catholic Church? Well now there is evidence that the Saints helped the church keep things quiet. The church had been raping kids for years and taking them across state lines. Nothing new to them. SO why do you think Peyton the NFL cheater all of a sudden quit coaching??? Is he involved?? Probably. Stay tuned.

So, so disappointed in FOX. They didn't show a great sport like rasslin just so they could show the putrid Packer game. Thats ok since I have no interest in the Love fest I watched Shark Tank and then read a book for a while.

This just in... :Photography: Deshaun Watson's punishment increased from a 6 game suspension with $0 fine to 11 games with a $5M fine (the largest ever levied against an NFL player).
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson suspended 11 games, fined $5 million after settlement between NFL, NFLPA (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34412381/source-cleveland-browns-qb-deshaun-watson-suspended-11-games-fined-5m-settlement-nfl-nflpa)
The NFL and the NFL Players Association on Thursday reached a settlement in the Deshaun Watson disciplinary matter, agreeing that the Cleveland Browns quarterback will serve an 11-game suspension without pay after he was accused by more than two dozen women of sexual misconduct during massage sessions.
Watson will also pay a fine of $5 million and undergo mandatory evaluation by behavioral experts and follow their suggested treatment program.
Yet because Cleveland structured his contract to include a 2022 base salary of only $1.035 million, Watson was going to lose only $57,500 per game suspended, without the $5 million fine imposed in the settlement. Watson's total lost pay this season will be $632,500.
Then again... we don't know how much he had to spend to settle all those cases out of court. :doah:
-

-

Suspension + fine + his apology = he's still a pig.
But the biggest pig in this whole thing is the Browns owner who ok'd that contract and bringing him to Cleveland. Shame on them.

...AND Oh, by the way...
Why, you ask, is the suspension 11 games and not 12 or any other bigger number?
Because the Browns play Deshaun's old team, the Texans, the week he returns from suspension.

yea and they'll probably broadcast that as the game of the week!!!!!!! :puke: :banghead: training-087

Carson Wentz cut by Commies. Had no guaranteed moneys neither.
-
Just saw this, I hope it pastes ok. Kirk is getting more affordable it seems. Five NFL quarterbacks -- Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers ($50.2 million), Russell Wilson of the Denver Broncos ($49 million), Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals ($46.1 million), Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns ($46 million), and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs ($45 million) -- are currently being paid more than $45 million annually, while Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen averages $43 million per year, but can make up to $48 million annually with incentives. Several other young quarterbacks -- including Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens -- could all potentially get deals exceeding $45 million.
-
If he's the 9th best QB in the league, pay him like the 9th best QB in the league.
The Vikes overpaid for Cousins to get him to come. I see no reason to overpay him now. Best case scenario is it will take two years to rebuild the defense to be middle-of-the-pack. And they can't do that if they overpay Kirk. It ain't like the proverbial "Superbowl Window" is open for them in the foreseeable future.
If Kirk thinks he's goona get a better deal elsewhere, God bless him. He might make more money, but his best chance for success ...
Wait. Scratch that. I was about to say his best chance for success is with the Vikings. I can't go there. :doah:
Lets face it, until a better QB falls in the Vike's lap or Kirk's performance drops off the chart, he is the devil they know - and I think they gotta ride it out. But it cuts both ways and something tells me Kirk knows that too. :coffee:
We saw what happened to Denver when they were desperate for Wilson. We'll see what happens to Oakland Vegas after they cut Carr.
-
Ya it is a tough situation. He is good. That's about it. We are in need of a D and he can help or hinder that situation.
-
The discussion shouldn't be about Kirk. If should be about what does Jefferson do if Cousins signs or doesn't sign. No matter what the result Cousins is short term. Whereas Jefferson is a long term concern.
-
Cousins doesn't pass until someone is wide open till he started just tossing it to JJ even when not open. Worked for most of the year but the last two or three games Kirk went back to not passing to JJ since he wasn't wide open.
-
 If JJ has no one that can get him the ball, he won't stay either IMO, no matter what his new deal says. He'll force a trade & I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him end up playing with his buddy, Diggs, as he knows Allen throws into double & triple coverage a lot.
-
Or the Jets who I think have a lot of money. They Jets are flying to talk to Karen Rodgers today or tomorrow. I'm thinking it is a done deal. He probably feels unwanted at GB since noone is groveling over him. One year at the Jets before he burns out his welcome and then he is going to come kissing up to us. He may not like Brett but he sure is following in his footsteps.
-
Got this goin on too. https://sports.yahoo.com/baltimore-ravens-send-a-definitive-message-to-lamar-jackson-with-non-exclusive-franchise-tag-200525944.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall Some insiders believe this is more about Roger's buddies refusing to do more fully guaranteed deals than anything else. Afterall, he has missed 10 games the last 2 years.
-
its getting pretty crazy lately..........the amount of high caliber players being cut loose from teams keeps getting bigger......
-
I suppose they are too expensive and getting older. Like Kendricks. I wonder what he will do. I would think a team would pick him up.
-
He should have a lot of teams interested, it was more about his cap hit than anything else IMO. That & the young LB from OK, Asamoah, showed a lot of promise & will most likely get some of that PT.
-
I suppose they are too expensive and getting older. Like Kendricks. I wonder what he will do. I would think a team would pick him up.
There are like 4 options for all these guys, right?
- Retirement.
- He goes back to his original team on a team friendly deal.
- He accepts less money to play for a different team.
- He finds a team in dire need of his position skills and gets them to overpay.
I think Kendricks will end up taking less money elsewhere.
-
Looks like Garapallo is going to the Raiders.
-
Sam Darnold signs with 49er's.

Patrick Peterson signed with Steelers today. Vikes looking for trade partners with Cook and Za Daryius Smith that wants out of here. I wonder why? Maybe he doesn't like our new DC? The Vikes as well as others showed up at a OBJ convention the other day. Don't know how it went down. I was all against him but I am warming to the idea. He would be a great attention grabber to help JJ. And vice versa

i seen where David Montgomery formerly the Bears running back signed with the Lions. that guy gave the Vikings the fits running all over them.
think Detroit is the team to beat this year in the NFC!!!!!
-
The Bears may be tougher too this year.
-
The Bears may be tougher too this year.
That's what I was thinking. They have their franchise QB under a rookie deal. They just got a haul from trading the #1 draft pick. They are set if they make the right moves. They could be dominant and scary for the next 5 years - while the Vikes are basically starting over from scratch with just one stand-out wide receiver.

Like I said... Da Bears still gotta make the right moves. :blues brothers: But they have a hellova lot more to work with than the Vikes. Heck, they STILL get the Panthers #9 pick in this year's draft plus a lot more: starting WR D.J. Moore, a 2nd round 2023 pick (#61 overall), ANOTHER 1st round pick in 2024, and a 2nd round pick in 2025! Plus all their other regular draft picks. I'd say that was a good move to start with. :happy1:
The Vikes and the Cheeseheads will be -ing when Da Bears win 3 of the next 4 NFC North titles. :surrender:
-
[/quote]yea but there the bears!!!!!! :rotflmao:

That’s exactly what we all said about the Lions for the last few years.
-
The best pick the Bears got was the #1 next year. They then can draft the franchise quarterback because I don't think Fields is it. But hell, Lions, Vikings & Peckers don't have one either so maybe it's a toss-up. I do agree though, the Bears fleeced Carolina who also didn't have a franchise quarterback.

Don't even want to think about it.

I will never under stand people like Favre, Rogers or Brady who won super bowls and were franchise hero's not just walking away with the life time fame? They would make millions in commercial and endorsements in Wisconsin. Then to only be remembered as the sellouts! :coffee:

Yeah, but it took quite a few years for 'doze Cheeseheads to forgive him. Remember, as a Vike, Favre spanked 'der :moon:'s pretty hard a couple of times. They eventually got over it, but it took some time. And I'll bet some diehard Packers "stockholders" still aren't over it.
(Heck, I'm still a little ruffled when I remember that Allen Page finished his career in Chicago.) :pouty:

Don't even want to think about it.
X2!!!

I don't care about his personal life. That can be kept quiet if thats what he wants. It's his public diva / drama football where he is getting what he deserves. Looks like Adam Thelen found a new home with the Carolina Panthers!
-
good for him!!
-
:happy1: According to WCCO, it's a $25 million/3 yr deal.
-
Some more details.
Adam Thielen’s new contract with Panthers puts Vikings request for pay cut to shame (https://vikingswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/19/adam-thielens-new-contract-with-panthers-puts-vikings-request-for-pay-cut-to-shame/)
When the Minnesota Vikings asked wide receiver Adam Thielen to take a pay cut earlier in the offseason, he made the best possible decision for himself by politely declining to lower his $11.8 million base salary. After less than a week on the free agency market, Thielen signed a massive three-year $25 million contract with the Carolina Panthers
I absolutely disagree with the article headline. I don't know how much of a pay cut the Vikings were asking him to take, but the Carolina contract is ALSO less than his $11.8 million base salary with the Vikings. He took a pretty team-friendly deal with the Panthers.
Spotrac.com: Adam Thielen Contract History (https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/adam-thielen-13071/)
3 years, $25M, $14M GUARTENTEED. Annual base salary average = $8.3M. There is an 'out' after two years for the team, which only has to take a $5M dead cap hit.
I don't know if the Vikings could have offered him as much as the Panthers given their financial constraints, but the way I look at it, Thielen definitely accepted a reduced contract and gave the Panthers team-friendly terms.
The good news is... It looks like Thielen still has two good years left in him. :happy1:
-
I agree. Hope Adam is happy there.

last gossip is Lamar Jackson is a wildcard to sign with the purple. yea right.........the Vikings aint gonna have the money to pay him this year!!!
-
I think they are just throwing stuff up on the wall hoping something will stick...
2023 NFL free agency matchmaker: Lamar Jackson to the Lions, Odell Beckham Jr. to the Vikings, other scenarios (https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2023-nfl-free-agency-matchmaker-lamar-jackson-to-the-lions-odell-beckham-jr-to-the-vikings-other-scenarios/)
Aaron Rodgers might want Odell in New York once he officially lands with the Jets, but a bigger opportunity could await OBJ back in Rodgers' longtime division. After parting with Adam Thielen, Minnesota is still in need of a running mate for Justin Jefferson, whose celebrity dynamism is similar to that of a younger Beckham. On a one- or two-year flyer, he makes a lot of sense as a proven route-runner opposite Jefferson's speed, especially with Kirk Cousins entering a make-or-break year.
No thanks. :coffee: Some team will get 6 or 7 good games from Beckham and he'll be hurt or pouting for the rest of the time.
Besides, don't need OBJ pi$$ing in JJ's ear.
-
last gossip is Lamar Jackson is a wildcard to sign with the purple. yea right.........the Vikings aint gonna have the money to pay him this year!!!
:doah: I'll believe that when I see it, he turned down a $250 mil/5-year deal at the beginning of last season because there wasn't enough guaranteed money. Rumor has it that the guaranteed $ was ~ 120-130 mil then. He has come out & said since that he wants a fully guaranteed contract.
-
Good luck, Lemar. :coffee:
-
Yesterday one of the talking heads on CBS Radio was trying to get the Jackson to the Jets rumor going. He felt the Packers were trying to get the better end of the Jets for Erin and they should pursue Jackson on a 5 year deal. He might not have been wrong.

 https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/Details-of-Ravens-contract-offer-to-Lamar-Jackson-revealed/ar-AA18BVii
“Lamar Jackson was offered a deal — that he turned down — that included, at the time it was offered, $133 million due at signing — $133 million guaranteed. The contract also had injury guarantees that brought the total guarantees up to $175 million,” Schefter said. “And it then had a springing guarantee that could have brought the value of the contract, the guaranteed money in the contract, [up] to $200 million guaranteed. Those guarantees were way more than Kyler Murray got from Arizona and way more than Russell Wilson got from the Denver Broncos. Yes, those were the actual numbers and that was the situation.”
What can you say... Man's gotta feed his family. :coffee:

 Yeah, maybe he has as many kids as Herschel. :bonk:

Interesting in that Lamar Jackson doesn't have an agent. He is negotiating himself.

Isn't that unreal. The rich getting richer!

Sad isn't it. Too bad the player's union wouldn't treat the salaries like the rest of us, in a tier, X amount of years you get this much etc etc etc. Nope, all greed.

but it's sure fun watching him play. except against the Vikings!!!!!!
personally think he's worth it more than some of the other top paid players at QB!!!!!!!!

50 million dollars a year for 5 years. !!!!!

 He'll make more per year but he's still > $50 million short of Watson's deal in the guaranteed $ department.

"The most talked-about move of the 2023 offseason has finally been completed, just days before the 2023 NFL draft: The Packers have traded Rodgers to the Jets." :happy1: :happy1: :happy1: :happy1:
The compensation, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, is the two teams swapping their first-round picks on Thursday night (the 13th pick to the Packers for the 15th pick to the Jets), the Packers getting a conditional 2024 pick that will be a first-rounder if Rodgers plays 65 percent of snaps and will otherwise be a second rounder, the Packers getting the 42nd and 207th pick in the 2023 draft, and the Jets getting the 170th pick in the 2023 draft.
Won't see him again except in the Super Bowl. Don't play the Jets for 4 more years. By then he should be toast.
-
That's great. Finally done.
-
 :doofus: that diva should just go away. :pouty:
-
So glad he is in the AFC. What a notch down in my book.
-
Maybe in 2024 a Viking like Farve his predecessor.
He can't wear number 12. That's retired for Joe Namath. Will wear his old college number 8
-
I was wrong about facing him again. There is a possibility. In 2024 the NFC North will host 1 team From the AFC East.....the 17th game. Depends on where each team finishes in their division in 2023. He could be playing that game in GB.
-
The Lions are still the Lions. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :bonk:
Lions' stunning pick of Alabama's Jahmyr Gibbs sends social media into frenzy (https://www.foxnews.com/sports/lions-stunning-pick-alabamas-jahmyr-gibbs-sends-social-media-frenzy) :doah:
In recent seasons, teams have not been inclined to select running backs in the first round because of the upside other players have shown going later in the draft. But with the selection of Gibbs, two running backs went in the Top 12 with Bijan Robinson going to the Atlanta Falcons at No. 8 overall.
But that really wasn’t the reason why confusion was found on social media.
The Lions already have two veteran running backs on their roster in D’Andre Swift and free-agent signee David Montgomery
They have 5 picks in the first 60 or 70 overall draft selections and they burn their first one on a running back? When they already have two veteran RBs

Season opener tonight at 7 on NBC. Detroit @ KC.
-
I will be watching.
-
Me too. :happy1:
-
The last I saw it looks like Kelce won't be playing with a bad knee. That will affect Mahones passing attack.
-
Chris Jones, their stud DT, isn't in camp either. He's holding out as he wants a new deal. Last I heard it was still KC & -6.5 though.
-
Mahomes would probably have to be out of the game before they favored Detroit.
-
I think there will be an added dimension watching Mahomes, Kapt. Kirk, and Mariota (if he plays) after the Netflix Quarterbacks special.
-
The game will be close. The gamblers, NFL, and the networks have a vested interest in Detroit not getting blown out. Lots of prime time games for Detroit this year.
For all of you who think baseball games are to long pay attention to how long this one lasts tonight.
-
WOW... Lions looked pretty good. Trading Stafford for Goff worked out for both teams - Rams in the short term (Superbowl win), Lions in the long term (return to relevancy).
And the Queens, as always, have to play the Kitties twice.
-
One point game with the chiefs missing their best receiver and pass rusher. Don't bet the house on the kitty's, 9-8 will be a good season for them.
Goff is Goff.
-
I'm not ready to say the Vikes are mortal locks to win the NFC North.
-
Anybody who claims to know what the Vikings will do right now is just fooling themselves. They haven't played a game yet. Starters haven't played. Whoever named Flores as a great coach hasn't been proven right.
The distance from being a top team in the NFC and a bottom dweller for the Vikings is a injury to Cousins or Jefferson.
-
Sure curious to see how they play tomorrow.
-
 did i read that right?????? detroit beat the chiefs thursday night??????? WOW!!!!!

Would rather have him than Mattison.
-
been watching the JETS on and off the last 2 weeks......sure havent seen much from Dalvin Cook??????
Only 4 carries for 7 yds yday, plus he had a fumble that they didn't get back. It's 13 for 33 yds for the season, he does have 3 catches for 26 yds. Breece Hall, their #1 RB, did have 127 yds on 10 carries on week 1 though.
-
I didn't realize that he has been so bad.
-
I figure you need three things for a good run game.
#1 - Dominating offensive line.
#2 - A skilled running back.
#3 - A legitimate passing attack that defenses have to respect.
Sometimes an explosive running back can make up for what's lacking in the O line, turning small holes into huge gains. Dalvin did that for a few seasons for the Vikes when he was healthy, but his explosiveness might be behind him. So far Mattison hasn't demonstrated that ability either.
Those running plays must look great on paper, where any ol' back should be able to hit the holes, but if the line don't execute the blocks, ain't nothing goona happen.
-
Mattison hasn't gotten much of a chance yet this season either. So far this season he's only carried the ball 19 times for 62 yds along with 6 catches for 21 yds. He had a lost fumble in the Eagles game too, but they didn't get any points off it. Check the Fantasy Home section near the bottom of the page. https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4048244/alexander-mattison
-
I didn't realize that he has been so bad.
there Oline is makeshift at best. Barry Sanders wouldnt get much yardage either!!!!!!!! :doah: :doofus:
-
The NYJ avg 99.2 yds/gm which was good for 25th, it was 97.7 & 27th for the Vikes.
-
That's bad.
-
Some others had the same bet, but their odds were no-where near what FanDuel's were. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2023/sep/19/fanduel-sportsbook-takes-20-million-wash-prop-bet-/
-
Sucks to be fanduel and lose on a bet like that, but just think about all the folks that are going to see that article and look to start on-line gambling. Somethin' tell me it will all work out for them in the end.
If they paid out $20M, they took in $100K on the bet. If they took in $100K on a silly prop bet about field goals, just think what the cashflow is for everything else. The amount of money that must be flowing on-line thru those gambling apps must be staggering.
-
DraftKings had the same bet at 30-1, FanDuel's odds were 200-1.
-
I wonder if someone will end up with a pair of cement overshoes for that typo. :undecided:
-
 Not so sure it was actually a typo, but they might want to change how all their bets are reviewed before they're published. :doah:

Chicago Bears’ defensive coordinator Alan Williams is stepping down.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Williams announced his resignation as the Bears’ DC “effective and immediately”, earlier this morning. In a statement that Rapoport shared, Williams said that he was stepping away to focus on his health and family.
In a stunning development on Wednesday, it was reported that FBI agents had raided Williams’ home and Halas Hall, though other reports indicated that the latter location was not raided.
Details about the reason behind the raiding of Williams’ home haven’t been revealed yet, but we’ll be sure to share more details as they become available.

Nathan Peterman is no longer a member of the organization after Chicago decided to cut ties with the third-string quarterback on Wednesday, September 20. Peterman is now the second reserve quarterback with whom the Bears have parted ways in as many months.
Later, starting quarterback Justin Fields blamed the offensive coaching staff for his “robotic” and unsuccessful play to start the season before ultimately walking those comments back.

The Chicago Bears are trying to track down equipment that was stolen earlier this week at Soldier Field. A Soldier Field manager said someone stole equipment, including gators and lawn mowers, from a parking structure at the NFL stadium. The estimated loss is over $100,000. It happened sometime overnight on Wednesday. Staff said the thieves tore down a security fence to drive the equipment out of the garage.

Following the game, Mahomes was asked by Erin Andrews about Swift's appearance. "I heard that she was in the house," Mahomes said. "I felt a little bit of pressure, I knew I had to get it to (Travis)...I think he wanted to get in the end zone just as much as all of the Swifties wanted him to."
NFL fans love the honesty.
"Andddd we're all in high school again," one fan wrote. "I’m literally sitting here crying laughing what is going on I love it," one fan added. "Idk if he’s the greatest QB of all time yet but he’s definitely the greatest bro of all-time," one fan added.

leech, that would make sense....... :tut: :rotflmao:

I don't think you could get local tribe leaders to agree either. Just look at what the article says. The claims made by the crack-pot Indian "leader" don't make sense. He's just trying to get publicity and make a buck.
The Native American Guardians Association (NAGA) accuses the NFL franchise and new owner Josh Harris of defamation, civil conspiracy and civil rights violations for their role in suppressing Native American history, in a complaint filed in the United States District Court of North Dakota.
NAGA led a viral petition this summer demanding that the organization reclaim its traditional Redskins identity.
"Commanders is a fitting name for oppressors," the suit stated.
The group seeks $1.6 million in damages and "a seat at the table to share Native American history."
The new owner didn't oppress ANYONE. He kowtowed to the woke mob, which wasn't the right thing to do according to this guy, and so now he is stirring the pot some more and trying to cash in. :doah:

I personally liked the old name. So just read that the Jets are signing Trevor Seiman. Ex Vikes backup.
-
Lambeau got very quiet early last night when Detroit scored a TD to go up 24-3 with not even 2 minutes gone in the 2nd quarter. GB never got within 10 after that. Love was hit a lot & sacked 5 times.
-
Later on Packers players were raising their hands to get the crowd going. Still was quiet as a church.
-
Lions could be legit. They beat GB and the Vikes and continue to roll.
For years we've been saying "the Lions are the Lions and they always find a way to screw it up," BUT how many seasons do we find that the Vikings still split wins/losses with the Lions. We should be kicking their butts, but always seem to play down to them.
NOW, the Lions do look legit, or certainly better than anyone else in the NFC North.
The Vikes might not be as bad as an 0-3 team this year, but last year they weren't as good as a 13-4 team last year either.
I'm callin' it... The Lions WILL make the playoffs, the Vikings won't. (Yeah, bold prediction now that the Lions are 3-1 and the Vikes are 0-3 :undecided:)

They said that Adrian barely made it due to the crowd not approving of him.

He doesn't quite fall into the same team as Watson and Vick as lowlifes but might end up on a list with PacMan Jones and Ray Lewis in my mind.

just read Dick Butkus dead!!!! :pouty:
-
That's sad. RIP Dick Butkus.
-
:pouty: A great player & not bad in the booth either as he wasn't afraid to say what he was thinking. RIP, DB.
-
a good guy I think...RIP....
-
He was a larger than life character who stood head and shoulders above his peers. He will be remembered among the all time greats.
-
Yes very impressive person. RIP Dick.

looks like Diggs and the Bills have there hands full with jacksonville over in London. Bills ar down 11-7 in the 4th and Allen just got picked!!!!!! :rotflmao:
-
What channel is that on?
-
What channel is that on?
here on 154, or the NFL network. and jacksonville just scored 18-7 jags!!!!!!!

Great final minutes.

NFL needs to end this crap of offensive linemen pushing the ball carrier ahead 5-10 yds. When the runner is stopped.....he is stopped.

-
 There's been a lot of talk about the Rules Committee looking at that & making some changes this off season. :happy1:
-
Or a 300 lb fullback pushing the QB over the goal line.
-
:doah:   i dont know......but there do it all the time. its just more noticeable at the goal line. especially with the Eagles. so how would they determine when they can or cant????
i just watch Darrisaw push Mattison ahead for 3-4 more yards!!!!!
-
Even though it kinda annoys me. I say let em do it. If they can team up to stop are runner, they should be able to team up to move a runner forward.
-
Best game of the day was the last 1 IMO. Watching the Cowboys get thumped makes me . ;)
-
:pouty: :pouty: just looked at the schedule of games on tap for today......a resl barn burner i tell ya......about the only game worth while is the one tonight at 7;20. philly and miami!!!!!
-
Maybe I'll binge on Boston Legal this afternoon between naps.
-
 I think the Lions/Ravens game could be a good 1.
-
That game is on in our area too. Hope to see the Lions lose that one.
-
I'd like to see the Lions win. It would be nice to have one decent team in our division.
-
WOW!!!! Lions are getting roasted Bills are getting beat but Diggs just made a hellofa play to score. but bills still down 22-17.
-
Vegas must be really bad.
Patriots win.
Lions get pounded.
Colts get robbed.
Hopefully Green Bush gets pounded in Denver.
-
Why are we getting the Chiefs game instead of the Packers???? Who cares here in MN if the Chiefs/Chargers win or lose???

I dunno, I like pro football, but I can only make time for one game a week. I spent the day getting things ready for winter. I wish they had more night games during the week. If they did I’d probably have all of my wood split by now.
-
I hear ya FW. I'm kinda old schooled my myself, Sundays are the day of rest and basically that's all the TV time I get, besides news in the evening and some Saturday night hockey. Although it was fun watching the packers lose yoday!

Was some upsets yesterday. Glad I didn't bet on them.

Cut out the news and do something useful with the time, I did. Life's to short to listen everyday to things like city crime and what our mumbling president said today, that you can't do anything about. When I see the mushroom clouds from my deer stand, ill figure it's over, if the good lord hasnt taken me by then :coffee:

anyone see or hear if the NY Giants fired there HC????//
-
:tut: Not that I can find.
-
just seen the Raiders fired the HC and GM!!!!!!
-
Raiders are a dumpster fire. Josh McDaniels is now a two-time loser as HC and the only non-interim coach to be fired TWICE before the end of his SECOND season. Instead of taking a promising playoff team to the next level, those guys figured out how to derail the train - and now they are both gone.
Davante Adams trade rumors were running rampant, but he didn't get traded. I don't have any clue if that is good or bad - just that they don't seem to be getting much out of him this year and he isn't happy.
-
They shipped his college buddy, Derek Carr, off to NO & now they don't have anyone that can get him the ball. Garoppolo is really stinkin it up this year, he was 10/21 on Monday night & got sacked 6 times. Pretty sure he just lost the QB1 job too.

Sacked 6 times you say? Sounds like he had a pretty comfortable pocket to work in, I just don't understand it?
-
Jimmy G has 9 INTs & only 7 TDs & Adams has only 14 catches in his last 4 games. Not good for a guy who signed a 5yr/$140 million deal in 2022.
-
There are some QBs that just transcend... make everyone around them better where ever they go.
But for most QBs, I'm starting to think that perceived success or failure has as much to do with coaching, scheme, game plan, and protection as it does with the QBs individual talent. You put a good guy in a poor spot and his performance will suffer. Football is the ultimate team game.
-
To be fair, he has struggled to stay on the field most of his career.

NFL Injuries: Daniel Jones 20th Player Sidelined Amid Debate Over Turf (https://www.forbes.com/sites/maryroeloffs/2023/11/06/nfl-injuries-daniel-jones-20th-player-sidelined-amid-debate-over-turf/?sh=5ce55f27261d)
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones became the latest NFL player to suffer a leg injury this season — after a likely season-ending Achilles tear for Aaron Rodgers and dramatic injuries to Nick Chubb and Kirk Cousins — as players and the league debate the safety of artificial turf.
I don't think they have a turf problem. They have a shoe problem. The players are going to wear the shoes that give them the maximum grip so they can continue to make their amazing athletic moves. Maybe if they used some shoes that had a little slip in them, they wouldn't be quite as electric, but they might not sustain as many injuries either. The NFL and the players all talk about safety, but the bottom line is, the better the players perform, the more money everyone makes.
It kind of reminds me of today's bigger, stronger golfers overpowering historic courses. The PGA will do anything to "Tiger-proof" courses except regulate the technology of the ball - there is too much money in selling those balls to the public to NOT have the pros playing the same equipment.
-
I agree. The bigger, stronger, faster these guys get the more injuries they may have.
-
It's a torn ACL in his right knee & it was ugly on the replay. Their QB2 just went on IR on Saturday too.
-
Boar.....where's the Vikings and Saints pickem thread????
-
NDSU's Carson Wentz signs with the L A Rams.
-
Good for him. Being a competent backup QB in the NFL might be the best job in football. ;)
-
Wowzer... I see the niners are beating up the eagles.... on eagles turf! :happy1: :rotflmao:
Betting the fans are pretty unruly about now! :rotflmao:

Wonderful isn't it?
-
GB beat KC last night though & Love outplayed Mahomes. :doah: KC had 2-3 of their main guys on their D get hurt bad & probably are out for the rest of the year.
-
I was reading but kept tuning in and it seemed like they were always taking someone off the field when I looked.
-
Mahomes played terrible. He was overshooting receivers all night.
-
GB plays like that & they will be hard to beat. They already split with Detroit & have an easy schedule left. The game on New Year's Eve could easily be to see who makes the playoffs & who stays home.

So I am kind of bummed on football today. Just found out that we are stuck watching the Jaguars and Browns instead of the Lions at the Bears. Who in this part of the country cares about the Jaguars or Browns? Then I have to endure watching Dobbs again. Not looking forward to any of it. May have to watch movies. We shall see.
-
Friend of mine has a 10 year old daughter playing a hockey tournament in Paynesville this afternoon. I'll be there and won't miss a bit of wasting the afternoon watching the NFL. There are far to many games on far to many days for me to get excited about the NFL any more.

But you probably won't have the Vikes and Raiders at 3:30. We obviously won't have both here. Have to have 2 AFC games today. Bills and Chiefs also here at 3:00. CBS has 2 games today. FOX only 1.
-
i kinda like watching that Lawrence kid for the jags....... rather then either the lions or fudge packers!!!!!!
besides all the TV STUFF IS $$$$$$$$$$ driven.
Dutchy you almost gotta cometo cols spring to get to Paynesville!!!! i gotz a really good beer for ya!!! :happy1:

The Lions have 1 of the toughest schedules of anbody left to play. They have Denver at home this week, then they play Dallas in Dallas in between the Vikes 2 games with 'em.

I picked the Vikes with 11 wins in my pool with the brothers. I need to win them all.

Denver, Vikings, Dallas, Vikings is one of the toughest schedules of any left to play?
OK. Technically the Vikings ARE a playoff team, if the season ended right now. But it ain't always who ya play... its when ya play 'em.
-
 I didn't even look at this, I just looked at who they played but this says 3rd hardest of any with a chance at the playoffs. https://www.tankathon.com/nfl/remaining_schedule_strength
-
Seems like only a few week back all the talking heads were saying how the Vikings had such an easy schedule the rest of the way. Now that website says the Vikes have the 2nd hardest remaining schedule!!!
I know things change - which is the fun of the NFL - but the Vikes basically went .500 thru the easy part (losing very winnable games) and now it gets tough again.
-
Nice chart. Man I wish we would have won the last 2 easy ones that we lost.
-
Man, its lucky the Vikings ONLY needed to score 3 points to win that last game. :puke:
Its easy for everyone to jump on the Manion bandwagon - especially those who wanted to dump Dobbs, but I think winning the next 4 games is going to be more complicated than just playing a new quarterback who has something to prove.
It all starts with blocking and a competent rush game, and it seems like guys got hurt last night in 3 of the 4 parts of the offense: line, running back, and JJ hurt again.
 :pouty:

They're already saying JJ & Ingram will probably be able to go. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39091893/vikings-justin-jefferson-good-chance-play-saturday The Raiders aren't good against the run & Mattison already had 6o+ yards when he got hurt. It's a sprained ankle with him & we could really use him Saturday. With the short week their last practice will probably be Wednesday. So, we should know after that.

Packers lose on final play field goal by Giants. :happy1:

That is a good way to look at it, and don't forget their 0-3 start. I remember hearing that teams with bad starts like that only make the playoffs 2.5% of the time (since 1990).

The neighbor & I both like an occasional cold bottle of "The Friendly Beer" up at the lake. So, we both buy a 12 pack every now & then. Neither of us mind their Nordeast every once in a while either. He's usually more of a Manhattan kind of guy though.
-
So he's a pretty good guy if he is a "Manhattan" type of guy. :sleazy:

Kind of figured you'd like that. ;) ;D

Bellichek done at end of season. Hope Flores doesn't go there and just stays here.
-
With the Patriots. Sounds like the Pats could still trade their head coach to a different team.
It will be interesting to see what happens. His best days are past him, but you never know what a man can do with a fresh start.
Football just gets in these guys' blood and some of them can't seem to quit it until no one wants them anymore.
-
I heard that about a trade too. It has been done before. Brady made Bellichek.
-
I heard that about a trade too. It has been done before. Brady made Bellichek.
Brady is a generational player who makes everyone better around him. Bellichek benefited from that - no doubt. And Bellichek was a good coach, but like all coaches, they have a shelf life in the NFL. For whatever reason, their act wears thin and changes get made. Bellichek had a longer run AND more success because of Brady for sure.
Even look at Mike Tomlinson in Pittsburg. Everyone acknowledges his greatness as a coach, but that doesn't quell the grumblings of a losing season. Rumors have him getting sacked, but who else would they get that would be better?
Tony Dungy did it best. He got out while he was still on top. :happy1: Well done.
-
Bellichek done at end of season. Hope Flores doesn't go there and just stays here.
 Flores will have HC offers coming out of his ears, so I don't think there's much of a chance he'll be back. This is the best defense they have had in a real long time too, too bad so many on the other side of the ball have gotten hurt this season. Last year it seemed like it was just the opposite, as everybody in the secondary was on the IL at least a couple times.
-

That won't stop anybody, I would bet he gets an interview with at least 3-4 teams. The 1st line says it all...............................https://zonecoverage.com/2023/minnesota-vikings-news/brian-flores-showed-up-in-minnesota-one-year-too-late/

I was running up and down the radio dial the other night and landed on KFAN. They were doing a Vikings installment of Skol Stories where they were talking to some ex-Vikings defensive line coach, who I didn't recognize. He was coach for Millard, Doleman, Randall et al. He had talented guys AND he did a good job.
He said he was never happier than when he was coaching the defense. When he got his crack at Head Coach (I don't know where) he said it didn't work out so good. He was better at coaching football than managing everyone else's problems. Its too bad more folks don't figure that out sooner.
In football, they take great coordinators and make them into average head coaches.
In industry, I've seen too many cases where they take good engineers and turn them into lousy managers.
Time will tell if Flores is a better coordinator or head coach. But the NFL is a place where egos run high.
-
holy sh!t storm........the raiders scored 63 points against the chargers......from 0 to 63 in a week. glad it wasnt against the vikings!! :rotflmao:
heard the head coach threw his headset down and walked into the crowd and rumblings he may have been fired at half time!! :bonk: :rotflmao:
-
Football is an emotional game played by prideful, Type-A men. One team embarrasses you, another team is goona pay.
-
I was looking forward to some good matchups in the NFL games today :happy1: ...........................until I looked at the schedule online & realized they're all on the NFL Network today. :pouty:  :doah:
-
Ya. No NFL Network here. Guess I won't get to watch the vikes.
-
It used to be if the home team (Vikes) played on a cable network, like ESPN, the rules said the would make an exception do an alt broadcast on one of the regular TV channels.
That may have changed, but maybe check around. I dont have NFL network either. This is prolly their way of selling subscriptions.
-
I see CBS here and NFL network.

Hopefully it isn't just the Twin Cities.

i have it  :sleazy: :sleazy: :sleazy: :smoking:

Men's college BB on CBS at noon here. Pretty sure I can watch it from my favorite barstool though. :toast: ;)

watching Baltimore and Miami. That Baltimore team is going to be a ream to reckon with in the playoffs. Also have some Minnesota connections playing. Ezra Cleveland, 2 gophers Bateman at receiver and Faajegi am OL. GUY. big dude.
-
My bad not Ezra.
-
He went to Jacksonville & is now starting at LG.
-
 I see where the officiating crew that did the Detroit/Dallas game are really catching some heat for blowing the 2 pt conversion call that could've gave Detroit the W. I read where they won't be doing any playoff games this season now. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/bell/2023/12/31/nfl-refs-detroit-lions-penalty-brad-allen/72071819007/ They didn't do a very good job last night either IMO, not like that would've changed anything.
-
All over the media how the refs blew it.
-
just read the jets released Dalvin Cook!!!!!
-
I don't think he ever did get rolling over there.
-
It was by mutual agreement, in fact he waived some of his contract so it was easier & cheaper for the Jets to let him go is what I read. He's hoping 1 of the playoff teams will pick him up on waivers. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/dalvin-cook-jets-part-ways-top-five-landing-spots-as-four-time-pro-bowl-rb-could-join-playoff-contender/
-
I do hope someone picks him up. Seems like a good guy.
-
Agreed about Cook. Sometimes they fit and things work out - like for Flacco - and sometimes, for whatever reason - like for Cook, they don't.
-
I bet he was excited to play for the "new" Jets with Rodgers etc. Bummer for him that it didn't play out like that.
-
 I read where Rodgers even suggested to the Jets that they think about signing him after we let him go.
-
Looks like Dalvin is signing with the Ravens. At least he will get a SB ring.
-
:tut: I know they're probably eveybodies SB favorite but I wouldn't bet the house on Ravens winning it all. They have playing really good & have won 6 in a row but they still have 4 more to play. So, that would be 10 in a row, which doesn't happen very often in today's NFL. Jackson runs 9 times a game too but it only takes 1 of those to go bad to ruin their season. :doah:
-
Jackson won't play on Sunday. They have the No. 1 seed locked up. So they may not win.
-
I agree Ken, but they're playing the Steelers & they hate the Steelers. Plus they have already lost to Tomlin once this year & they can end any hope the Steelers have of making the playoffs. If the Ravens can stop the run & score a few points it'll probably a long day for Pittsburgh IMO.
-
So it may be more fun than I thought even though it is the lowly NFC. :sleazy:
-
So it may be more fun than I thought even though it is the lowly NFC. :sleazy:
:tut: We are in the NFC North & they are in the AFC North. The Steelers have won 6 of the last 7 from the Ravens & 3 in a row in Baltimore. So, I think the Ravens will want to put an end to that & make sure there's no chance of 'em having to play the Steelers again in the playoffs.

I just read that Atlanta Falcons fired their coach and want to hire Belicheck

Careful what you wish for... :coffee:

Ya that's for sure. We don't need him here. Chargers are a top spot for him too. Commanders and another one too.

Was it official then, I didn't hear??

Not a done deal with Belicheck yet but he talks about it in public so of course he is in the loop.

Exactly. What is up with all of this Dallas hype. They always blow it. Dak is good but that's it. Now let's see if I know xhit. LOL I did pick them in this first one.
-
CeeDee Lamb is a game breaker if Dak has the time to throw to him.
-
They're favored by 7.5 & it is in Dallas, they haven't been nearly as good on the road. GB has won 6 out their last 7 games too.
-
Gonna be some good games.
-
Belicheck is gone from the Patriots.
-
I wouldn't mind it if that game ended in a tie!! ;) :rotflmao:
-
Pete Carroll out in Seattle.
-
I hope they get Harbaugh. That team and that guy deserve each other.
-
Belicheck is gone from the Patriots.
 It looks like 2 of our coaches could be talking with the Patriots about a job. https://vikingsterritory.com/2024/news/analysis/not-brian-flores
-
Flores isn't getting that job.
Mayo is the frontrunner and most likely to get it.
On a related note on Mad Dog Radio theres speculation Belichicks best spot would be Atlanta with the Falcons emptying the bank for Cousins.
-
 It looks like they've been talking to Mayo for a while but McCardell might still get a shot at the OC job. Vrabel & Flores were still mentioned in the pc I read. They passed a new rule that says no interviews until after the divisional round of the playoffs but that wouldn't matter if they want Mayo. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/01/11/jerod-mayo-patriots-head-coach-succession/

Jerod Mayo hired to replace Bill Belichick as Patriots coach

Total BS.......Tomorrow night's game between between Chiefs and Miami have to pay extra for on Peacock Network. I would be really PO'd if I was a big fan of one those two.
-
:happy1: A lot of :angry2: fans over that. Only in KC & Miami areas will NBC have it, they're sayin it's gonna be -30 in KC tomorrow night too.
-
Until people quit watching they will keep taking it to pay venues.
-
Yup. It pizzes me off they keep doing more of that. I'm not paying for extra service just to watch. Not that important to me. The more they keep doing that the less I will watch.
-
 “Considering cord-cutting and the soft TV ad-sales market, I think they have no choice but to pursue streaming because that’s where the growth is gonna be," John Kosner, the president of digital media and sports consultancy Kosner Media, told USA TODAY Sports. "That’s where media companies are investing.”
NBC Sports president Rick Cordella said the window was presented as a streaming-only game as part of the new media rights deal that went into effect prior to this season. NBCUniversal put together a pitch for the Saturday night game to air on Peacock. That, plus a reported $110 million, was all it took for Peacock to score rights to a matchup that resulted in the No. 3 Kansas City Chiefs — "Swifties," meet "The Office" — and No. 6 Dolphins. :pouty:
-
nuttin more then a :bs: money grab!!!!!! :angry2:
-
Pisses me off too.
-
I'm not paying Xtra just to get that 1 game. Just like I won't pay for ESPN+ just to watch Xtra college games.

I hope it is a record low watching number for it. Too bad I wanted to watch it.
-
I hope it is a record low watching number for it. Too bad I wanted to watch it.
yea it woulda been fun to watch with the weather there expecting. that and the buffalo game.
think its kinda :bs: :surrender: the NFL didnt
move those games. like even have the Chiefs game earlier in the day when its the warmest. humans shouldnt have to deal with those extreme weather conditions.....like bud grant did!!!!!
-
Much like dumping Biden / Walz with our votes the only way to protest these types of games is to avoid getting extorted to watch them.
Much like the war on drugs....just say NO!! However the results of saying no will be similar. The NFL cartel will win like the drug cartels won.
-
Well I'm just saying no. ;)
-
this hole streaming thing is going to hit the older crowd hard. The twins might be going to amazon and for example my parents are in a nursing home you go visit in the evening almost tv is tuned into the twins. How are they going to watch? I'm 60 we do some streaming with sharing subscriptions with our kids. but there is no way I would do it full time. To big of a pain in the ass.
-
Will really be a bummer if my 92 year old Dad can't watch the Twins anymore. I may quit watching just cuz he can't.
-
New York Governor moved tomorrows Bills game to Monday afternoon sighting safety concerns. Wonder what she knows that the folks in KC don't know? Steelers should be pissed. their best chance lies in the worst weather they can get.
-
The game isn't as important as people's safety.
-
If you can afford to buy crazy priced tickets you can afford clothing to keep you warm.

She is a friggin dimwit! It is only a little below zero. But they are soft out there. Just need to dress a bit warmer.
-
Very true JB, just wait til the game at Arrowhead, will be several fans showing bare chest, always is. She goes on about travel, all the white knuckle driving for hockey tournaments we did with nothing canceled due to weather, soft like you said..
-
Colder in GB that time in the game with Dallas.....Ice Bowl
-
Snow and wind are the problem getting there'
-
Joe Flacco comes down to earth.
-
I saw shots of roads underwater from that last deluge they just got. ???? Ya darn I was hoping Flacco would have a great game.
-
Colder in GB that time in the game with Dallas.....Ice Bowl
Right. And the game the Vikes played at TCF when Seattle came to town. I believe that is still the coldest on record yet. Ya, I just happened to see the score of the first game. Wow. Well, I am already one in the hole in the picks.
-
The game isn't as important as people's safety.
 Wonder who gets sued 1st if there's a big pile up & a lot of people get hurt or even die? Not to mention the added load it puts on the 1st responders when they're already really busy. Their forecast.....................WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST MONDAY...
WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations of 10 to 20 inches in the most persistent lake snows, with storm totals 1 to 2 feet. Local amounts of 2 to 3 feet possible across the Buffalo southtowns, where bands will persist the longest. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph, with near blizzard conditions at times today.
WHERE...Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming counties.
-
That does sound pretty awful. It would have been 1 fun game to watch though. I love watching those games in the snow.
-
Yes it would have been a blast to watch. I remember when they used brooms etc to keep the 5 yard lines cleaned up some.
-
They were advertising for help shoveling snow from the seats in the stadium this morning, $20/hr for 4 hr shifts. Food & frequent breaks included. There's been a travel ban for empty trucks & all tandem trucks in Eerie county since 9 am yday & a full travel ban in place overnight just so they could move the snow easier. They activated 100 of the NY National Guard to help too.
-
Wow that is quite an operation.
-
And by tomorrow afternoon, there won't be a flake left on the field. They probably had it covered.
-
Kind of standard MO for those people.
-
WOW.........cowboys are getting friggin smoked!!!!!!!!!
-
I can't stand either team.
-
I can't stand either team.
Amen. I’d like them both to lose.
-
I can't stand either team.
me either but......i am kinda enjoying the cowboys getting beat up!!!!!!!! :sleazy:
-
I smell Cowpies...... :archery: :archery: :archery:
That's 2 crappy games out of 3 so far. Hopefully the next one is better.
-
Go Pack!

this is a tuff one I didn't know which team I dislike more. It's the cowboys. Just so the packers get there ass's kicked next week.

Much better game to watch if you don't care who wins.
And Detroit will play either the Eagles or Rays at home next weekend.
-
WOW.........cowboys are getting friggin smoked!!!!!!!!!
 Something told me to take the Packers............................................... but I just couldn't bring myself to do it :puke: Have to admit, it was kind of fun watching Jerry Jones have a REALLY BAD day though. :happybounce: ;)
-
I dislike the pacers the most. That and I picked the cowboys.
-
Even though I bet against the Pack and Lions it was fun to see them win. Always fun to see Jerry stressed. LOL

:scratch:Saturday night's Wild Card Round matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs, which streamed exclusively on Peacock, garnered historic viewing numbers.
The game was the most streamed event in U.S. history, drawing an audience of 23 million viewers.According to The Athletic's Mark Puleo and Richard Deitsch, last November's matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks on Prime Video held the previous record for the most streamed NFL game at 15.26 million viewers.
Unfortunately for viewers, the game didn't offer much excitement after the first half. The Chiefs held a 16-7 lead heading into the half and piled on in the second half to win the game 26-7.Sunday Night Football, which is typically on NBC, also streamed on Peacock this season, but Saturday's game marked the first playoff game exclusively on a streaming network.
Seeing how well the game did for Peacock, it may not be the last streaming-exclusive playoff game. :pouty:
-
I believe you but find it hard to believe that that many people cared enough to watch that game.
-
 Even with all the "Swifties"? ;)
-
Who would have thought.....Final 8 has.....2 teams from the NFC North and ZERO from the NFC East.
Packers the youngest team in NFL and Lions close to the youngest. Bears looked much better second half of the season. Could be a real tough road ahead for our Vikings. Especially with the QB situation. The most important player on the field. :pouty: :pouty:
-
 Even with all the "Swifties"? ;)
Hadn't thought about those Chiefs fans. LOL
-
Seen that the Falcons annouced on Monday that they'd already talked to Belichick.
-
That may work.
-
I believe you but find it hard to believe that that many people cared enough to watch that game.
 Read a pc that said the most watched NFL games last weekend had 40 & 36 million viewers & even #3 was ~ 30. So they figure that the streamed game cost the NFL at least 6 to 10, maybe even 12, million fans. But yet, the NFL & all the media are still hyping it as a huge success.
-
Thanks for the explanation. It just doesn't seem possible that was such a success because it wasn't.
-
Sure it was a success... for the NFL. They got important data. They might have not had the maximum number of viewers, but now they know how many they lost. And if they do it again next year, they'll know if that number is trending up or down.
The other thing is, it isn't just the NFL. Its also NBC/Peacock - as a network they are also trying to maximize the monetization of their broadcast channel plus streaming service. And since they are partnered with the NFL, they're all motivated to make as much money as possible - even if it means impinging on 'free' access to viewers.
I don't think they'll ever stop tinkering to make more money: streaming service access, over seas games, yadda, yadda, yadda.
-
 :pouty: well...this is one feller that aint gonna ever pay for a streaming service to watch anything.....not that important to me. :bs: :surrender:

The last game that was only available by streaming only had roughly 15.2 million viewers, which was then a record. So NBC/Peacock can look at it say, look the # of viewers is up. What they won't tell you is that the earlier game wasn't a playoff game. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10105095-dolphins-chiefs-nfl-playoff-game-draws-23m-viewers-most-streamed-event-in-us-history

The problem is... Right now the NFL is seemingly bullet proof as a money printing machine.
No matter what they do to it, they just seem to get more out of it. And the more money they get out of it, the more they want to tweak it to get more.
Remember when prize fight boxing was one of the most popular sports; when all the biggest fights were free on network TV? They F-ed it up when they switched to pay per view. Now, mostly no one cares about boxing (even before MMA came along).
However, NFL has so much momentum (and times and technology have changed) that flirting with steaming services isn't going to amount to more than a dent in sports popularity or their revenue streams.
And in the end... they WILL be making more money.
-
 Straight from a recent MSN article:While it's impossible to know what the NFL eventually will do, at some point the NFL will jeopardize its broadcast antitrust exemption if it puts too many playoff games on pay-only platforms.
Already, New York congressman Pat Ryan has suggested that House of Representatives explore the law that allows the league's teams to sell their TV rights collectively, based on the decision to stream a playoff game.
The NFL's push to streaming began in 2022, when the NFL moved Thursday Night Football from free on Fox to prime on Amazon. There wasn't much of an outcry over that. But this is a playoff game; for many, it represents the first step in something that could expand to more postseason contests.
That's up to the league. But the league should tread lightly. Without the broadcast antitrust exemption, the NFL would face significant liability if it forces networks that would prefer to purchase the right to televise only Cowboys home games to also take home games from all teams. Eventually, every team would do its own deal. And it would become very hard to hold the league together if one team is making $1 billion per year and another team is making $50 million per yea
-
And it would become very hard to hold the league together if one team is making $1 billion per year and another team is making $50 million per yea
Sounds like MLB doesn't it?
-

Sounds like MLB doesn't it?
I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like something Jerry Jones and his buddies would be pushing for.
Maybe the NFL isn't bullet proof after all - is someone gets too greedy.
-
We all know there is no greed in the NFL.
-
So basically Amazon bailed out Diamond so they can crawl out of bankruptcy so now Amazon will become a huge sports network as well as their other things. I sure wish I would have bought stock in Amazon back when Glenn did. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

 It's an old case (2015) but there's been a recent ruling in another lawsuit on the NFL's broadcast rights. Jan 12 (Reuters) - The National Football League must face a multibillion-dollar trial in February over the distribution of its exclusive “Sunday Ticket” telecast package of games, after a U.S. judge on Thursday declined to throw out the class-action case.
Los Angeles-based U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez ruled, opens new tab that a nationwide class of residential and commercial Sunday Ticket subscribers can move ahead with claims that the NFL long has curbed competition for the sale of game telecasts.Sunday Ticket, previously available on DirecTV but now carried by Google’s YouTube TV, provides out-of-market games that are not otherwise available for free in local markets on CBS or Fox networks. Google and DirecTV are not defendants.
The plaintiffs contend that the NFL's business deal for distributing the package has artificially inflated its price, in violation of U.S. antitrust law.
Gutierrez’s ruling rejecting the NFL's bid for summary judgment paves the way for a Feb. 22 trial, where alleged damages have been estimated at $6 billion. The commercial plaintiffs include bars, hotels and restaurants.

Love threw 2 interceptions in the 4th quarter. The 1st INT was tipped & led to a SF FG but the last 1 that ended the game was pretty ugly. GB missed a FG with ~ 6:00 left too.
-
Yup GB hung in there and looked pretty darn good for most of the game. I was surprised how good they looked for the most part.
-
Im definitely not a Packer fan, but I’m kind of glad they had a good showing in the last few weeks. Considering the stink that Karen Rodgers made when they drafted Love, it makes him look like an even bigger ass.
-
Yeah, Purdy struggled throwing the ball all game until the last drive when he was 6/7. Guess he's never liked throwing a wet ball, even in college.
-
Lots of chirping by the Packer fans again after not being able to find them prior to week 15 with a search team of St. Bernards. They closed the season well but despite that weren't they like 10-9 for the whole year? Last year the Vikings had a good record and the wheels fell off this year for them. If Cousins stays with the Vikings the Packers are no closer to the Belichick Super Bowl Trophy than the Vikings.
As a final thought on this post... weren't the Green Bush fans calling for the head coach & d-coordinator to be fired DURING the season?

 Knew there'd be at least 1 upset plus it's usually pretty hard for me to bet against Mahomes & Company, so I took KC. Seems like they kind of have the Bill's # too.
-
It was certainly a back and forth game.
-
I kicked my own ass for betting against Mahomes but I do like Allen too. Big tough guy. Would love to have him here.
-
It's hard not to like how he plays but he his new deal was right there with Mahomes' when he signed it back in August of 2021. Not sure he could've got that here. Josh Allen and the Bills have agreed to a six-year contract extension through 2028, the team announced Friday.
The total value of the deal is $258 million, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who reported on Inside Training Camp Live that it will average $43 million per year, with more than 50% of the money guaranteed. Allen receives $150 million in total guarantees and $100 million fully guaranteed upon signing, which are each the highest in NFL history. With all the incentives it could be worth $288 mil.
-
Man that is a lot of money.

Have we mentioned yet that this is Mahome's 6th season in the NFL and it is his 6th time in the AFC Championship game?!? Isn't that unreal? Just heard it and didn't realize that.
-
That's cool. That's also why I am struggling with who to pick yet.
-
And the Chefs keep winning despite paying Mahomes record breaking money.
Kapt. Kirk says all the right things, but it doesn't bode well when the Vikes hope to get the home town discount when agents are involved.
-
Are the Wilfs clamoring for a hometown discount or the fans?
-
Wilf's hometown is in New Jersey. Why should they give a home town here?
-
Are the Wilfs clamoring for a hometown discount or the fans?
Call it what you will... Teams are always looking for the most-team friendly deal they can make.
As a fan, I like to see the GM have as much flexibility with contracts and salary cap as possible to be able to make the team better.
-
No agent involved in Lamar Jackson's new $260 mil/5 yr deal as he's never had 1 & the Ravens are most people's pick to win it all. They have been very good in the draft though as 1/2 their starters have came since the 2020 draft.
-
Falcons have hired former Ram's DC, Raheem Morris, as their new HC.
-
And you all have heard that Harbaugh will be the new Chargers coach.
-
My point was I haven't read anything from the Vikings or Wilfs that they expect a hometown discount. As far as I can tell it's just the fans that think Cousins should take a hometown discount. Again, I don't expect him to give one nor do I think he should. I think he should be paid whatever the market will bare.
-
 I believe the whole hometown discount thing originated in Foxboro & it wasn't the team's idea either. TB12 went to them with the contract restructuring idea as he wanted another ring more that he wanted more $.
-
I think Tommy wanted them to afford good players around him too with the discount money.
-
And I believe it worked for him too.
-
 I think it cost Brady some money but it was really more about how much cap space they had that season IMO. With the new deal they were able to sign a couple key guys that had a really good years for them.
-
Redoing his deal in '14 with NE did cost him more than I thought, ~ $21 million. But he got another ring in '15 & '17 too.

Russell Wilson is going to sign with the Steeler's as he met with them for 6 hours yday. Pitt will pay him the veteran minimum of $1.2 million & the Broncos will pay the rest of his $37.8 million salary. Baker Mayfield signed a $100 mil/3yr deal with TB too.

I'm glad the Vikings didn't do that deal. Think how tempting it might have been...
And Spielman and Zimmer would have been all over that. A washed up, superbowl-winning QB, on a short deal, for only $1.2M... More money to spend on the defense... Sign 'em up.

Been hearing he is not the best guy to have in the locker room.

Been hearing he is not the best guy to have in the locker room.
Heard the same, Tomlin might be the guy to straighten him out. Especially after the last season or two, it's not like he is good enough to carry a chip on his shoulder lately.

Vikings signed edge rusher Greenard. Don't what team he comes from but they played us last year I believe. He is 6'3 and about 265.

This guy? Don't think we played the Texans last year though. Only 26 too. :happy1:  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-free-agency-2024-vikings-agree-to-terms-with-edge-rusher-jonathan-greenard/

He gone. Kirko to the dirty birds. A four year contract.

That must be him.
-
I am looking forward to our new era.
-
He was never going to get that kind of money or a 4-year deal here. :tut:
-
 Seen this guy mentioned a few times & by different people too. https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/news/vikings-signing-olb-andrew-van-ginkel-two-year-deal
-
He was never going to get that kind of money or a 4-year deal here. :tut:
It looks like he got $140M of that $180M guaranteed in the first two years. That is a big chunk of change.
I'm trying to figure all that out, how they must be converting salary into signing bonus.
-so he averages $45M/season = $180M
-first two seasons fully guaranteed $45M + $45M = $90M
-$50M signing bonus
-90 + 50 = $140M
-$180M - $140M = $40M
So does that mean Kapt. Kirk will "only" be making $20M per season in the last two years of the deal? He still gets paid a pile and won't lose much if his performance falls of and they cut him in year 3 or 4.
Not that it matters a hill of beans to anyone except Cousins and the Falcons and now their fans. :coffee:
-
He won't last the season.
-
Kirk might not have won a superbowl, but he keeps on betting on himself and winning.
If you look at the highest career earnings for a QB, only Aaron Rodgers tops Kapt. Kirk.
Rodgers = $342.5M
Cousins = $331.5M
Stafford = $328M
Wilson = $256.4M
-
A fool and their money soon part company.
-
The only fools are the players who don't invest their salaries wisely.
Everyone else is making life-changing money hand-over-fist and smiling all they way to the bank - especially the owners.
-
So, in your opinion, there is no reasonable limit to what they pay a player?
-
My point is, the reasonable limit, agreed to by the owners and players association, is the salary cap. And it is up to teams and player's agent to figure out how much of the pie each player gets.
So what if a GM overpays a guy who underperforms. It happens all the time. Bad contracts eventually expire. Dead cap space money eventually comes off the books. Owner makes money every year. Players get all the money they were able to negotiate for. 18 teams don't make the playoffs. 31 teams don't win the Superbowl. A few players, coaches or team managers retire on their own terms, but most of them eventually get cut or fired.
All I see is billionaire owners and millionaire players all enjoying the "American Way", earning live-changing Monopoly money paid for by the fans, advertising contracts, most recently - gambling partnerships, and government subsidized stadiums.
So, who are the fools and their money?
-
They can't release the details of Kirk's new deal until he actually signs it & that can't happen until the new season has officially started, that's @ 3:00 pm CDT tomorrow.
-
Sam Darnold on a 1 year deal. That confirms they are going after a quarterback with their first pick in the draft.
-
Yeah, I sure hope that they don't think he's going to be anything other than a replacement for Mullens. But $10 million is a lot for a backup in today's NFL too. Seen this yday & it kind of made sense to me. https://heavy.com/sports/minnesota-vikings/justin-fields-trade-bears-cousins-falcons/
-
I have read that Darnold is very smart and a great athlete but it just didn't pan out with him and the Jets while he was there. I see he played in 10 games for the 49ers last year.
-
Darnold car broke down again.

Aaron Rodgers wants to be a Vice President candidate.

:rotflmao:
... AND he wants to Jeopardy host.

... AND he wants to be a New Age guru.
Arron Rodgers just wants attention. :coffee:
-
Even Funnier.....Jesse "The Body" Ventura wants to be Vice president.
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed Tuesday that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and ex-pro wrestler and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura are among his preferred running mates.
:laughroll: :laughroll: :laughroll: :laughroll:
-
So much for taking RFK Jr. seriously. :coffee:
-
Has he even talked to Ventura or Rodgers or is he just blowing more hot air that he is good at?
-
 Many states require independent candidates to name a running mate before they can seek access to the ballot, a factor driving the early push for Kennedy to make a pick. Major party candidates generally don't pick vice presidential nominees until closer to their summer conventions.
-
I'm sure those laws were put in place by the Dems and Repubs to favor the two party system not being up-ended by independents.
Just like now how the Dems are passing laws to make it easier to commit voter fraud and allow non-US citizens to vote in the name of "fairness to all" to favor the one party system they desire.
:oops1: :offtopic: :sorry: Based on LPS and Gunner's previous post, I didn't realize we weren't in the Political forum.
And back to our regularly scheduled NFL levity.

Justin Fields is headed to Pittsburgh. https://sports.yahoo.com/bears-successfully-trade-justin-fields-225552913.html
-
Little protection for the Steelers in case Wilson turns out to be a turd.
-
A lot of new combinations going on this year.
-
 All they got was a conditional 6th Rd pick in return which could turn into a 4th Rd pick, if he takes 51% of the snaps this season. However, he is in the final year of his rookie deal & his 5th year option is for $25.6 million. But now they are free to go get the USC guy with their #1 pick in April. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/03/16/chicago-bears-trade-justin-fields/
-
I'm just glad the Vikes didn't chase Fields as their bridge QB.
And I can't say I'm any more pleased about the Darnold signing, but at the same time, they've been ignoring the QB2 position for years. Maybe Darnold turns into that if they can draft a new hotshot who is ready to play.
-
Couldn't agree more on both counts. I just didn't have any interest in Fields. I also am curious to see what KOC can do with Darnold. I may have already have said this but some sports guys were talking about Darnold and said that the worst thing that could have happened was to go to the Jets. Said the trainers and coaches did nothing to help his QB education. He came into the league young too. SO he is only 26 and has a few years of being around. That may work in his favor too.
-
 It sounds like #18 was hopin otherwise https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/vikings_wr_justin_jefferson_pitches_his_preferred_kirk_cousins_replacement/s1_1313
-
I am sure. Look what Cousins passing did for him. Made him a star.
-
My personal opinion is there no quarterbacks including Williams in this years draft that will be ready to start this year. Teams that are drafting high all are losing teams who have many holes to fill. Why have your quarterback get gun shy and learn bad habits trying not to get killed the first year? Let them sit, get use to the speed of the game, watch & learn. Losing the year for contract reasons doesn't matter......Fields is proof of that. If the kid isn't ready after 5 years trade him or cut him loose.
-
Yup
-
Thats why, for all of those reasons and more, finding your starting QB in the first round of the draft has always been a 50-50 proposition.
-
And 50 -50 is pretty good odds actually. Remember Stafford his first few years with Detroit? He got the ever living snot beat out of him. Every game with us he just got destroyed. I actually felt bad for him and didn't think he would make it 5 years. Well he hung in there and deserved to win a Super Bowl. Not many people will put up with a beating like that but he did. NOT the way to bring a kid into the NFL. WE need to be vastly improving our Oline too. Watched a comparison of McCarthy to Mayes. McCarthy was much better under pressure. They graded both and Mayes was a little better when not under pressure. My vote is for McCarthy cuz there will be pressure. LOL
-
I agree, db, it is almost always best if the rookie QB can sit for the 1st year. But look what C. J. Stroud did this year & not many thought he would jump right in & start, either. To be fair to Fields, having 2 different head coaches & 2 different offensive coordinators in his 3 seasons with the Bears did little to help him improve as well. The change of scenery may be all he needs, we shall see.
-

I agree with Fields. Backing up Wilson will be the best thing to happen to him if he buys in. However, it won't change my opinion of him as a quarterback. I just don't think he is that good. I think he was just surrounded by so much talent at Ohio State. We will see what happens.
-
 Pretty sure it's a 1-year deal for Fields with Tomlin too, as I find it very hard to believe they'll sign him for that $25.6 million option next season. Unless, they both like what they see & he agrees to restructure his deal.
-
I read that 4 other teams showed interest in Fields but he declined to be traded to them. Haven't disclosed those teams yet.
-
That might be true, but it sounds more like a rumor leak from an agent trying to make his client appear more valued.
-
 I did find this: Prior to getting traded to the Steelers, a number of teams were reported to have made inquiries about Fields, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
However, Fields did not want to go to any of those teams, and he was only interested in being traded to the Steelers.
There are no official reports at this time about the specific teams that asked about Fields, but there are several teams that are not thrilled with their quarterback situations. Those teams include the New England Patriots, New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders. Additionally, the Eagles traded for Kenny Pickett shortly after the Steelers signed Russell Wilson, so Philadelphia could have been interested in Fields prior to making that deal.
-
I did hear later that Philly was one that he didn't want to go to. Was on KFAN.
-
I didn't realize that underwhelming QBs still on their rookie deal could call their own shots.
But putting my inherent cynicism aside... I'm just glad Fields will get another opportunity. In the end you just want to see people succeed - in all the various ways that is measured. So often a player perceived productivity is a function of his circumstances. Football is - after all - the ultimate team game.

NFL owners mulling over new Kick off rules today.....
The kicker would continue to kick from the 35-yard line, but the other 10 players would line up at the receiving team's 40-yard line. At least nine members of the return team would line up in a "setup zone" between the 35- and 30-yard line. Up to two returners can line up in a "landing zone" between the goal line and the 20-yard line. No one other than the kicker and returner(s) can move until the ball hits the ground or a player inside the landing zone. Touchbacks would be marked at the 35-yard line, and no fair catches would be allowed.
In the event a team wants to attempt an onside kick, it would have to inform officials of its intent and would then be allowed to use the NFL's traditional formation. No surprise onside kicks would be allowed.
-
Also could be new this coming season.....
Meanwhile, the committee's attempt to eliminate the hip-drop tackles -- a dangerous technique that often results in lower body injuries -- requires officials to note two actions: If a defender "grabs the runner with both hands or wraps the runner with both arms," according to the wording of the proposal and also "unweights himself by swiveling and dropping his hips and/or lower body, landing on and trapping the runner's leg(s) at or below the knee."
-
The kickoffs have been flat out boring, what some 95% are usually touchbacks? As far as tackling look at the hit Hock took, was more of a head first chop at the knees.

Look I'm all for a safer sport, but at what point are we just going to be playing touch football for christs sake! :mad1:
-
I have always watched when guys are running and not expecting it and someone does that. Man that could do a lot of damage. All of that weight pulling straight down on hips, knees, ankles. Seems to happen on screens before the runner gets momentum.
-

Kickoff rates were a league-record low of 21.7% in 2023.
-
The kickoff proposal would be the most significant on-field rule change for the NFL in years and is designed to reverse more than a decade of declining return rates while also lowering concussion rates. In essence, the committee's proposal would move the majority of the kicking and return teams downfield to minimize high-speed collisions.
Sounds like a very good idea. Basically just moving the blocking and tackling players closer together. :happy1:
-
Get rid of the kick-offs altogether. Let the offense start at the 20 yard line. Lets give the game some semblance of defense. Also mover the goal post closer together. Make extra points and field goals a bit tougher.
-
Interesting idea of moving the goal posts closer together to make kicks more difficult. Would probably have coaches going for it on 4th down more often instead of trying a 50+ yd field goal. :happy1:
-
NFL likes offense, but offense means points.
Metrics are already telling coaches to go on 4th more often, I don't think you need to move the posts to achieve that. Moving posts would take points off the board, and I don't think they want to do that.
-
Football is a physical sport. Let's keep it that way. Unfortunately sometimes in a physical sport players get injured. Just the way it is. The more the NFL pussifies the game the less I want to watch it. Might have to start watching rugby where the actually hit each other. Maybe the new kick off rule will create more returns. But I liked the way it was before it currently is. Made it more exciting.
-
And more deadly.

Are the Washington Commanders going to pull of the biggest surprise of the entire draft?
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero sent the draft world into a frenzy Monday during a discussion about what Washington could do with the second overall pick.
"When I've had conversations here with executives from other teams who know [Commanders GM] Adam Peters well, know the situation well, the most popular answer for what they do at No. 2 is J.J. McCarthy,
-
I'm not up to speed on what all the hub-bub might be about. Alst I know is the consensus opinion is that the top 3 QBs will go in the first three picks.
I guess the question is, is JJ McCarthy's stock rising fast enough to be considered in that top group? Or is this all subterfuge to cause angst amongst the other teams that draft high in the first round and raise the trade value of said draft picks?
Time will tell.

New NFL Rules Require Opposing Teams To Just Hug It Out TheBee (https://babylonbee.com/news/new-nfl-rules-require-opposing-teams-to-just-hug-it-out) ;)
NEW YORK, NY — Football fans were left confused and frustrated after news broke that new NFL rules will require opposing teams to just hug it out rather than engage in hitting, tackling, or playing football.
The new rules, officially approved and adopted by the league this week, will limit physical contact between opposing players to gentle, caring hugs in an effort to eliminate any risk of injury.
"This is the future of the game," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. "It has been our mission for many years now to reduce the chances of our players suffering physical injuries. That long journey has now led us to this historic moment. Loving, compassionate hugs will now be the cornerstone of the National Football League."
Early reactions from players were mixed. "I don't know," said Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones. "I got into football for the physicality, not for hugs. We'll see how much it changes the game, I guess." Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, however, expressed support for the changes. "I'm all for it," he said. "Now, whenever I get sacked, it'll be nice to be gently laid down in someone's warm embrace instead of being violently slammed to the ground by a 300-pound man. Maybe now I can make it through a season without getting hurt."
At publishing time, despite disappointment expressed by fans nationwide, analysts predicted that every NFL player would now get to experience the same type of football Tom Brady enjoyed for so long, with minimal physical contact allowed.

Hey stay off TB12 man :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Right now looks like Williams will go number 1 to Da Bears.
Next three are McCarthy, Maye, and Daniels. No one knows in what order.
Bears, Commanders, and Patriots all need QB"s.
Next are the Cardinals and then the Chargers. They don't need QB's so will one of them trade down to let another move up to get the 1 that is still left???That's where the Vikings will most likely trade up to. But other teams like Denver want a QB also.
Not much info is leaking out as to what will happen. Talking heads are just guessing.

Hey stay off TB12 man :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

There are so many scenarios the talking heads are working now. They must love it. NOW they are talking that Warshington may take McCarthy. :angry2: BUT it is all posturing for another 29 days. The talk today also was of the Vikes taking Murray from the Cardinals. No frigging way. Just coming off injury. Would get us right back in money trouble like with Kirk. A young guy so we can pay the rest of the team is what I would like to see.

The annual Owner's meeting is going on in Orlando this week, so there's a boat load of reporters down there too. They have to write something every day, so ~ 90% of them will just throw something :bs: against the wall & see if it sticks.

Simplest explanation of the new kickoff rule that I could find. https://www.usatoday.com/story/graphics/2024/03/26/nfl-changes-kickoff-rule-see-change/73096191007/ Think I'll like it.

I have no idea what to think. Having broken necks isn't a good deal so I understand what they are trying to do as far as safety. We have had some real exciting run backs from Patterson, Harvin, Scherells. Maybe we just don't do run backs.
-
The kick return has all but disappeared the last couple seasons with the current rules & I think this will help bring it back. It should make for better field position & hopefully fewer injuries too.
