I hate mice. Jam packed with with seeds for the winter. No wonder my snowblower wouldnt stay running or run at all. I hate mice
-
I never thought of that. I wonder how many snow blowers get sold or hit the scrap pile because of rodent damage.
-
I find it amazing where them little suckers can fit in to... hate them too!! and Steve it does make ya wonder!!

...Ever watch the TV show Alone? You sound like one of those guys. ;)

It is a constant battle keeping them out of campers. I am going to spray ammonia or something by the wheels and levelers this summer to see if that works. Stop them at the beginning of their perverse smelly journey.
-
I used to make sacks out of cut-up nylons and fill them with moth balls. I'd put the sacks around the wheels, axels, etc. I can't say it was always 100% effective, it was better than having the moth balls everywhere inside of the camper.
You are right, though. Once those hated buggers get that nest smell in a camper, future generations keep coming back to look for a place to live.
-
besides moth balls, I use bounce laundry dryer sheets.. seemed to work anyways...
-
I hate them also. Ever try Fresh Cab?? Smells way better than moth balls. Works too. I have also used dryer sheets.
-
that's a new one to me JB.. looks like good stuff....

We have tried Irish Spring soap in slices on a paper plate in spots. Have done the dryer sheets. We have bought those bags of peppermint and or cinnamon and different mouse not liking things and none of these things seem to impress us. The mice are still gonna get there. I set traps at key spots and the mice cross over these bags to get the peanut butter. I got a 6 pack of those plug in things for only $30 or so at Menards so plugged them in all over in the camper. Will see this summer how they work. We have them in the house just cuz we bought them years ago. Seems traps are the best thing to do. May try some Decon. That stuff is great. Dries up the mice. Anyways you hit me when mice were on my mind. I think the program is to apply the deterent on the ladders they use to get into the camper or whatever place. Not to make them decide to leave whilst they are already there. My two cents worth and looking for any other good ideas.

My dad used dryer sheets in his RV once and he though it was the way to go til he opened a drawer and the mice had brought all the sheets to this drawer and made a bed with pillows and blankets to stay nice and warm there was 4 mice all cuddled up I’ll never forget his face when he saw that. So I bought him a gray bomber hat for Christmas that year which he didn’t find to funny?

We've tried lots of the mentioned methods at the cabin also. Lately I've been putting a bucket trap out with rv antifreeze in it. They want in it and don't stink come spring. Seems to knock down the #'s anyhow.
-
I trap them every fall. Least I know when i get um.
-
Mice, voles, jumping mice, deer mice, got them all at my place, never ending challenge to rid my garage, pole barn,house....gotta keep on them, they are relentless, dryer sheets,as stated above they made nests with them in my fish shack....this fall my decon bait stations were hit pretty good,no sign of fresh mice or mice tracks in our fresh snow so far...knock on wood,I load up several decon bait stations around the preimeter of my pole barn, garage, two corners of my house,to get em before the breech and gain entery in my dwellings, seems to work well, just in case a few stcky traps in hidden places,so far so good.

Snow blower is blowing! I win mice, i win!!

My wife has about 6 cats that roam the farm. I don't like cats. They seem to keep the rodent problem in check.
I usually get the small engine equipment ready a couple weeks before it might be need. Usually.
-
Same here tt. Cats are only one notch above buck lambs on my least favorite domestic animal list. Cats help here keep the rodents down along with harassing the sparrows in the pole barn. This group hunts well otherwise they'd be outta here. I also aggressively poison the ever living crap out of rodents in the barn using bait boxes along with bait box poison & traps in the house. Whatever it takes.

Do your cats get them wrens too?

Many years ago I saw a pretty clean low miles Yamaha 340 snowmobile for really cheap I wanted to pick up for my kids. I notice the exhaust pipe off the front of the motor. I asked the guy whats up with that? He said it will start and run with the pipe off but will not with the pipe on? I tried it and sure enough it ran great with the pipe off.
I've had about 12 snowmobiles of 5 different brands over the years. I had a hunch so I bought it for a few 100 bucks.
I brought it home, took off the exhaust pipe and muffler. And shook out a full coffee can of dog food! The mice had totally packed the muffler with dog food! :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Thing ran like a top after that for many years! :happy1:

No, it was a kitten. It was trying to get the mice. True story.
