Anyone here make Smash Burgers?
I'm making 1 for supper tonight.
Heat grill. Place 10 inch cast iron on and get smoking hot.
1 Tbs margarine
Roll burger in a ball. Season
Turn over burger and smash with an 8 in cast iron. Bottom coated with tinfoil
Season top side
Time 3 minutes
Turn over
2 more minutes
Place on bun or bread
Top with cheese, onion and other condiments.
We'll see how it goes.

So it sounds great Ken. I love a good burger. I like the cook in cast iron thing too. BUT why do you need a pan to flatten the meat into a burger? Just a fun cool thing to do? And I can see that.

It was OK.....basically tasted like a pan fried burger. I still like a good burger on the grill better. I might not have had the pan hot enough to get a real good char.
Anyone made these this way themselves?

You want it really flat. Like an 1/8 in thick, yet hold it's shape.
